My mom just asked if I would show off "our" baby to her friend that is stopping by. 1. MY baby. 2. You are asking me this as I am nursing him, which I will not stop doing for someone I don't even know :P
My mom does this and it drives me crazy. "How's my baby?" I want to be like, "well MY baby is fine". But I don't want to be a bitch.
The creepiest thing my mom says is how's my boyfriend? I've replied several times that he's her grandson and that's weird.
Isabel had a follow-up appointment with her pediatrician today because they noted after her birth that she had some facial markers of downs syndrome. Now, with all her post-delivery swelling gone down, the pediatrician checked her out again and confirmed that the facial markers are within normal variation. Such a relief!
He did find a click in her hip that he's sending us for an ultrasound to check out, but it seems minor in comparison.
I often scan baby hips, they're almost always normal! Just a tip, usually they tell you to have the scan done between 4 to 6 weeks... try to wait as long as possible!!! We get so irritated when a 4 week old baby comes in, because their hips are still shallow at that point. You then get dragged back for another U/S at 6+ weeks, which nearly always ends up being normal.
@KrystaJ B sweats SO much! his back and the back of his head and neck are always wet, especially after being in the car seat. it's hot outside and maybe LO is just hot natured on top of it. I wouldn't worry too much about it
At what age do you need to stop cursing around your baby? This is a serious question.
Prob 1 1/2- 2 1/2. Ds started repeating things clearly about two.
DD1 was an early talker and parroter, I'd say 1.
Yep. I'd start practicing now if I were you. I am a curser and still have lots of slips around my 3yo. The only words she's repeated that I really dislike are "oh my god" and "hate". Not bad words but I almost cried when she said she hated something. I have to really watch myself.
She also said Ellie (LO) eats boobs, but that's just funny
@ElTrain5 C has only just started repeating things on her own (as in, I didn't ask her to) at 26 months. I have a really hard time watching my mouth, so I intend to teach her that they are adult words only. We'll see how well that works in practice.
Last night I fed DD around 11:30, then pumped so both boobs were super empty and then DH slept in living room with DD again so I could sleep in the bedroom. 6 and a half hours of straight sleep...I feel life super woman!
When I sent DH off to bed after I got up, I asked if he slept okay and he said not really. So I asked if she was fussy and he said "not too bad, I just had to get up with her twice and it took like 45 min each time to change her, feed her, then burp her... It sucked." I laughed and was like "yeah, that's actually a good night if it only took 45 min each time... Welcome to my world"
What do you consider to be a month for monthly photos? Every 4 weeks? Or are you going by dates (born on the 18th so the 18th of every month?) He will.be 4 weeks tomorrow and I was going to take his 1 mo photo but realized counting that way might confuse me later.

The date. The only month that is four weeks long anyway is February

I consider it the actual date, but I don't want to worry about taking his picture on a Wednesday night after a long day of work. We're going to take his picture either the weekend before or after, which ever is closer to the actual date.
Dh worked from home today so he could watch C while I had a dentist appt. He came down to check on us because he could hear two crying kids and I was yelling at C because she scratched charlie pretty good...so he took C upstairs so I could get a break. Love.

Hmmm... Thanks for the info! My doctor wants to get me in this week, and Isabel is only 3 weeks today. He made it sounds like the earlier the better? But, the ultrasound clinic has yet to call me for an appointment, so maybe they're putting it off.

@sempre_staccato that's interesting, well every place is different! I still hate scanning them before 6 weeks though lol.
@nelleebelle I'm sorry to hear what you'll have to do! I take insulin before every meal, and while I'm fine with it now, I did use to worry about what other people thought. My health is more important than other people's opinions though. You both will do great, good luck!
My random awesome...my 9 y.o. step son showing his sister so much love. He and my (3) step daughters have done such a 180 to the jealousy they were having pre baby and things like this just melt my heart. @babygabe614 how are things going with the fam? I know you had a smilar situation working...
My AW is that DS moved from the 1st percentile to the 7th in weight. I realize that it still means he is smaller than 93 percent of babies his age but I think the progress is awesome

@ktcort13 DD is just over 3 weeks old and last night DH and I were getting her ready for bed, and were both standing next to the changing table. She looked up at us and smiled a huge smile and let out a very content sound. It was the cutest thing ever and I don't care if she knew what she was doing or not
DD had a weight check this morning. She gained 10 ounces in 13 days. The nurse was happy, but is double checking with the doctor. I'm so happy to see her weight going up, even if its a little slower than others!
I love seeing all my fellow slow gaining babies making such awesome progress! B had a weight check this morning and had his biggest growth spurt yet! gained 1 lb in the past week and grew 1 inch in the past two weeks. so proud of him and all the other babies! keep growing!
@JulieSmiles That sounds like a great gain to me. My book says normal is anywhere from 2/3 to 1 ounce a day
@stephross88 That is awesome, hopefully you can finish weight checks soon. I always found them so stressful
Thanks for the well wishes. I keep reminding myself that DS#1 was also a late pre-termer and slowly but surely climbed his way up to 38th in weight and 65th in height at his 3 year visit but it is nice to see the improvement sooner rather than later this time around.
