@collinsbri-- you posted exactly what I've been debating posting ALL DAY. +1 interwebz.
I keep up on all the latest feminism products and love this one. My boobs are wayyyy too big to wear a bikini top like that but I would if they made it into a halter with extra support haha.
Ok, I couldn't resist posting THIS "feminist" product... The images in this link are NSFW.
EDIT because I suck at getting links to actually show up. I always forget to hit like an enter or space after it to make it stay...
lol, i have a pattern for that.

@calindi Talking as though I'm not here just makes it weird because it's like I'm listening in on you (and others earlier in the thread, AND apparently on another board,) psychoanalyze me based on how I look in my pic, but y'all aren't actually talking TO me, just about me. Whatever, you guys wanted to give your 'take' on how I 'come off' , and I guess I'll just pretend like I'm not here until you stop. That's how groups bond. Not my first message board.
@stargirlb I have plenty of crunchy friends and your pic and ideas remind me of them. It's not my style the difference between you and my friends that have similar opinions is that you are condescending of others and can't seem to accept that not everyone may agree with you. Also, while I can respect your stance on many issues (none of your thoughts or ideas seem extreme just crunchy) what really rubs me the wrong way are the comments you made in the initial announcement thread, the bondage comment, the Abe Lincoln comment, and the fresh baked home birth comment. The announcement comment and Abe Lincoln comment are enough to make me not take anything you say seriously again. I just roll my eyes when I see your name come up. I was raised conservative so I don't take the breastfeeding photos but I have absolutely no issue with those who do I think it's odd to use it so publicly but to each his own. Again, it's your comments that get me. Oh and the fb post that you talked of, I mean really??
I am one of those prudes. I can't bring myself to pull my boobs out in front of people to feed my baby. I even have to cover up when I'm alone at home. It weirds me out.
Now that I've said that. I TRY like hell to breastfeed. My production has sucked with both DD's, but I kept trying. My SIL still BF's my 4 year old niece. She's always been one of those types of women who would pull her boob out and chase her kid around the playground. Did it make me uncomfortable at first? Yes. I am a major prude and insanely modest, but I am also a biologist. I know that breasts exist primarily to feed children. I never thought my SIL was a horrid, wretched woman for exposing her breasts in public, or while sitting right next to her father and brother. It just isn't something that I feel comfortable doing.
DD1 has asked questions about breast feeding and I'm not afraid to answer them. She's asked me why I don't do it and I've explained that my boobs just didn't work the way they were supposed to, but it's okay. The important thing was that I loved her and her sister and I fed them the best way I was able to.
I think it's horrible that a law needed to be made to ensure a woman's right to breast feed in public. It shouldn't have been needed. No one needed to make a law that said a woman could give her child a bottle in public, or change a diaper in public. I think it's sad that just because Aggie is modest and prudish, that her children may grow up feeling ashamed and confused about their bodies and what they're used for. I hope my daughters are braver and more secure than I am about breast feeding. I don't want my daughters to think their breasts are only a sexual means to attract a mate.
Pretty much this entire thing, except for the fact that I don't have kids yet.
I have friends who have breastfed in front of me, and it makes me kind of uncomfortable, but only because I'm not used to it. I also recognize that it's not their problem, it's my issue.
I breast fed both of my children, but I wasn't not going to use my child to promote another stupid feminist view! Yes I do keep my children from staring at babies who are bottle feeding, though I do think that should also be done away from others. It is much harder for any child to eat if they are distracted. Even when they are older, eating time is not for socializing. It is for nourishing our bodies. You can talk when you are done.
I'm also surprised that so many of you are against someone with an actual opinion and not just jumping on the bandwagon because that's what society thinks they should do. Wouldn't the be a bit hypocritical?
) good one. I had a good laugh at the bolded, @AggieMom0809.
On a different note... Guys, I'm really running out of room on my post it, which has basically turned into a post it wall lately!!
I've taken to making a post-it of my absolute faves instead
The announcement comment? You mean when I said some people knew right away because I was asking about the morning after pill, that wasn't a good enough reply for you? Would you have preferred I made up a story about how I baked my family cupcakes with tiny baby figurines hidden inside?
And on that note, I very much support the idea of child-free planes and restaurants. Let the folks who are bothered by children have their child-free zones. (Plus, it's a nice break for parents who want an adult night out.)
There are plenty of child-free places to eat, they're called bars. In my neighborhood there's a number of nice establishments I would like to eat at where they say nope, 21+ only.
Where I live minors are allowed in the bars until ten p.m.

Lol, my dh's aunt and uncle wanted to get fish tacos at this bar and we were turned away and kept cracking jokes about how my son was getting kicked out of bars already at the tender age of one

OP... Please, pretty please mark your calendar and come back to let us know how you feel about this in 3 years.
In the meantime, I'll just keep my kids at home, ordering takeout for the rest of my life for your sake. I wish I would have thought of that sooner! 8-}
Thank you all for proving my point. If it was just about feeding the babies then there wouldn't be the hats that are only there to offend people. You would be considerate of others if you wanted the same respect. I do shield my kids from men with boobs also. If they are over weight enough to have boobs, they should cover up too. That's a whole different issue. I will continue fighting for what I believe in as I'm sure you will too.

So now you shield your children from women who breastfeed in public, women who bottlefeed in public, and overweight men who don't earn your approval as skinny enough to go shirtless?
Aren't you a gem. I will try to shield my children from bigotry and narrow minded views. To each their own.

I want to know how often she is coming into contact with shirtless overweight men with boobs. I must live in some strange place where this phenomenon does not exist.

@AggieMom0809 - Why do you shield your kid's eyes only from overweight men with what you consider to be "man boobs?" All men have nipples, right? Is your beef with nipples, or with the (for lack of the technical word) bouncy part of the breast tissue? (ETA: I almost typed tittue, no kidding.:) )
I did breastfeed my son in public, unashamedly. He was hungry and didn't want to have his meal under a blanket. I can understand that. It was summer. I wouldn't want to eat my meal in the summer heat under a blanket either. I tried to be modest, and I certainly didn't try to make a show of feeding him (because why would I?), but I'm sure that the occasional passer-by probably saw a bit of my nipple/breast. But they didn't learn anything new, did they? I mean, I'm a mammal. Therefore I have nipples. Seeing that part of a mammal's anatomy shouldn't be shocking to anyone, I don't think.

Funny story about nipples and breasts. My 4 year old son likes to forgo wearing a shirt on hot days and assuming we are not really going anywhere out, I have no problem with this. So yesterday he says to me, "these are my nipples. no one wants to see girls boobies!"
This is so funny and awkward but still I tried to explain to him that women's boobies are not a bad thing to see, they are used for feeding babies just like cows do. I'm not sure he got my point but anyway... #freethenipple
My skinny husband runs shirtless every day I guess I should ask him to put on pasties in case someone like @AggieMom0809 happens to have their children in the car while he's running. Or is he ok since he doesnt have "man boobs"?
I do not want to go to a public place and have to shield my children's eyes because someone is pulling out their breast in public to feed their child instead of finding a remote quiet space or at least cover up..
Oy. Well the law protects my right to feed my child in public. I respect your personal feelings of modesty, but puhlease.
And I am pissed that they have actually put a law into place that would protect women who chose to subject other children to such inappropriate behavior.
for realz? i mean, you can't possibly be seriously calling feeding a hungry baby "inappropriate behavior". that would be completely absurd.
I'm not calling feeding a baby inappropriate behavior, but I do consider pulling out ones breast in a public place inappropriate. If you really feel the need to feed them right then and there COVER UP!!! Be a little considerate for others! Not USE your baby to prove your opinion!
Lots of other breast feeding moms mentioned this, and I had the same experience: my LO wouldn't eat with a cover up.
It's not a feminist opinion, it's a humanist opinion. All babies are humans and all babies deserve to eat.

For what it's worth, I always showed way more boobage when I covered up than if I didn't cover up because my son would rip the cover right off of me and his flailing arm would eventually pull up or down more of my shirt.

Sorry, I like to think while we are mammals, humans a a bit more developed than cows. Yes for the first 6m to a year babies should be fed breast milk, but then we use cows to provide the milk for us. Be my guest and you can go start feeding the cows with your breasts too since you want to be like them.
That is absolutely disgusting and they should be ashamed of themselves for acting like it's okay to be morbidly obese!
Wait.... didn't you post in another thread about gaining 50lbs after your youngest was finished BFing? How can you justify judging others for carrying a little extra weight if you admit to gaining 50lbs at one point in your life? I mean, I could be wrong about this, but it seems like any any height, assuming you start out at a healthy weight, surely gaining 50lbs would put you at least in the "overweight" range of the BMI chart (not that it's the best measure of health, but it's one measure anyway).

At least cows don't care how their babies get fed, as long as they get fed... And yes, we're developed beyond cows. Which means we should understand MORE about biology, not less.
