Oh for fuck's sake! We need a friggin common sense screening process before people are allowed in this bmb. This is totally unbelievable. Can we at least get avatars posted on the news for people who openly admit to child neglect and endangerment and use their actual effing photo?
Oh man.. There are so many things that we as parents can not protect our children from these days as hard as we may try. I can not imagine willingly putting my child's life in danger just because I was too lazy to buckle them up. No freaking way. I am a pretty laid as a mom but seriously it's just not worth the risk.

Question (Mods and other Bump administrators?) - if a poster admits to willful neglect and child endangerment that could result in the death of their child, what is the protocol? Do you have their personal info? Could you notify authorities?
Usually FFFCs are for somewhat flame worthy but harmless confessions, but this is someone blatantly admitting to endangering their child.
No, we can't even see IP addresses. There is nothing I or Beej can do.
Andplusalso sometimes people exaggerate or make things up for a rise. So pressing charges on an Internet confession may prove fruitless without physical proof.
I disagree in this case.
Is it against TOS to ask her BMB for her son if any of them have her info to please contact CPS and include a link or screenshot of her post?
A look through her post history has a lot of identifying personal information.
I'm sorry, I should have clarified on the heat related item, not all of the cases were because the person responsible was lazy. In some cases the person got side tracked and forgot that the child was still in the car.
I can't fucking believe that someone on here admitted to being too lazy to spend 30 seconds buckling their kid in as casually as I admit to rocking yoga pants to work and pretending they're black dress pants. @kiranata - the issue isn't where you buy your shoes - or, really, about front- vs. rear-facing car seats. You're post was light and jokey. Like, "I totes can't be bothered to take simple steps to protect my kid from one of the leading causes of PREVENTABLE child death! LOLZ!" Not okay. I hope you remember this thread each time you put that child in the car and are shamed into buckling him in every damn time.
Wow... I step away for a doctor's appointment and a night off with DH. But loving all the car seat recommendations.
Any chance all these ladies might be the same person (or couple if people)? When we get a newbie can we start them off with a questionnaire? Thoughts on car seats? Frosting? Cheese curds?
I'm actually glad I took the time to read all of this because I now have a lot of info on car seats that I didn't know before and that was something that was pretty overwhelming to think about.
I seriously can't get over not buckling a kid in...I remember being 4 years old and knowing that my brother and I needed to be buckled. One crazy day with my parents, one parent had asked the other to buckle my brother in and they had a miscommunication or something and we ended up driving for .5 seconds, long enough to move from park to drive until me, the 4 year old, told mom and dad that my brother wasn't buckled in (he was about 1). I still to this day can't understand people who don't buckle kids in, don't buckle themselves in. My DH doesn't wear a seatbelt and I yell at him everyday (he's one of those, 'I want to be able to get out of the car if something happens' people). When I'm in the car, I ask him to use his seatbelt and once LO is born, if you are in a vehicle with us, you buckle up. A projectile human could kill another human, not to mention a kid. A projectile kid? Life over.
Sorry for the mild rant, I just hate when people don't wear their seatbelt...not to mention crazies who don't buckle their kid in and do it not out of forgetfulness or the stress of parenting as an accident, but to do it willingly. Crazy mofo's.
*sighs* car seats.... I hope she doesn't have any more close together. I despise people who move their LO up to a booster or a no back booster as soon as they can (3-4 years of age) because "I don't have room in my car!" or they are just lazy....
I have FIVE in 5 point harnesses still.... I had to buy thinner seats (we have the Harmony Defenders) because I drive a minivan that is not as wide as some of the other ones are (fail on my part). Yep, it took a certified tech and I an hour and a half to put the 3 seats into the 3rd row.
No, I am not psycho mom with my 7 year old in a 5 point. He is... 34lbs? maybe 33lbs. #4 is the same weight. #3 is 55lbs though. Due to either size or age, it was determined to be safer to keep them all in a 5 point for safety. So I don't feel bad when someone is complaining about what a pain it is to put their 1-3 kids into a 5 point harness.... try putting 5 in. And no one can undo the crotch clip. *sighs*. Come December, I will have 6 in some form of car seats.
My DH doesn't wear a seatbelt and I yell at him everyday (he's one of those, 'I want to be able to get out of the car if something happens' people).
Tell him to get a seat belt cutter and to store it where you can still reach it even if you're pinned in. Then you can still wear your seat belt and have a way to get out if the mechanism jams if you're in a wreck.
They sell them on amazon, I think they were like, $10. We have one in each of our cars.
I was about to say the exact same thing. I keep a rescue knife that FI retired from his turn out gear in my center console, doubles as protection and I can get out of a jam if I have to
Also, on the subject of the window punches, if you use one you can't hit just anywhere on the glass, they work best and most efficiently if you hit the top or bottom corner of the glass. This triggers the spider effect which allows you to push the entire window out with very little sharding. (Advanced vehicle extrication techniques)
FFFC: I ALWAYS buckle my kid into his car seat regardless of how far I'm going. And I schooled DH before DS was born on proper car seat safety. Also DS will probably RF til damn near 4 bc a) he's a squirt and b) I did my own research and got a good car seat. I don't like to name call but @kiranata you're kind of a twat waffle for putting your kid in so much danger and being so nonchalant about it.
Sorry, preachy bishes make me not care. Or I'm sorry, is the interwebs serious business?
Yeah well as fun as this has been nap time is over. Have fun.
Dare I ask what the sleeping accommodations are? Hot car? Locked closet?
Exactly half of what I was thinking. Read a horrible article on hot car deaths today, attempted to tell DH about the article and ended up sobbing. It only takes one accident/too hot day/uncomfortable sleep position and that is it.
The other half of my thinking is that at the very LEAST I would be concerned about child protective services. Someone sees this happening or your kid tells someone about it, your kid could get taken away, for the short term at least while they investigate. Better than them dying but they're still not with you.
Lurker from D13 but this entire thread made me sad and happy. I wanted to mention what a relief it is here to hear how many of you momma's are so well educated on proper use of carseats. You can tell how you've all done your research and are learning from one another. Very awesome. Carseats can be so overwhelming and there is always something new to learn about the proper usage. As moms we do best when we can admit that we don't know it all and continue to learn from one another. =D>
Off topic: your kid is just so darn cute!
Also off topic: but your kid is also super adorables. I love all these adorable baby pics going on in the sigs.
