I think someone needs to develop some updated etiquette rules. I know we all don't have time for hostess gifts and handwritten thank you cards every time we visit someone, but we still need to know how to be polite to people. It's rude to interrupt an in-person interaction whenever your random technology beeps in your pocket. Why don't people know that?
It should be perfectly legal and appropriate for me to take a dump in someone's yard if they let their dog do it in mine. Wait, that's not good etiquette, is it Stoney?
Flip flops and cutoffs and cleavage are NOT acceptable for a job interview or work meeting. And if you're the interviewer and judge the interviewee on these bad choices, you need to STFU

This depends entirely on the job for which you're interviewing

It kind of bothers me to use the WTF acronym, simple b/c it's not something I would say in real life (neither the acronym nor the full version) except in very extreme circumstances which shall remain unidentified.
Damn it Stoney, I thought they were already good today, but it's just you blabbering to yourself.
Just bc you are a teacher and get summer off doesn't mean you get to quit paying the nanny and just expect the other family to pick up your slack. Life doesn't work that way. (If it's not stated that way in the contract obv.)
TTC with PCOS since November 2009
IUI#1 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 3-7) = BFP, m/c IUI#2 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 5-9) = BFN IUI#3 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 3-7) = BFP! beta #1 11/23 = 270, P4 = 75 beta #2 11/28 = 2055 Our daughter E was born 7/29/2012! Surprise, our 2nd daughter P was born 5/22/14!

Haha, I tricked you! That's a sticky situation, TJ.
I love all of the breastfeeding information and articles I come across on Facebook. I share them all on my wall with no shame. To make it an UO: more people should read and share them
Yeah I'm thinking Emily Post would vote no on both defecating in someone's yard and on referring to it as as "taking a dump" for the updated version.
Have you listened to the podcast Dinner Party Download? (Awesome and hilarious btw) the have a couple of the Post children on their show giving etiquette advice once a month and they are totally up to date and reasonable (and also funny). Also, the Post Institute is in Vermont and I once gave an in-home cooking class for a bridal shower in a Post family home. I didn't realize it until part way through the class and all of a sudden I was terrified of breaching some unknown etiquette rule. But I survived!
What would you rather refer to them as? Just type out the whole word husband/child, etc or by their actual names?
Once I got used to all the acronyms, I actually like them. Sometimes I have to catch myself when I'm writing stuff somewhere else (like Facebook) because maybe not everyone know what DH means.
It annoys me when people have joint social media accounts, like FB, email, even on here. Its most likely just the girl that uses the account. I just don't get it. Have your own damn identity.

Jane, you're too proper. I use all of the words in all of the situations, unless it's completely gratuitious and I'm right by LO. I swear like a sailor.

I swear regularly IRL, but I make a point of not doing it front of people who would be made uncomfortable by it (a lesson I hope to impart on my children), which makes swearing on the internet weird. I feel like the internet is made for swearing, but there are lots of people who might read it and feel offended. As a non-swearer, how do you feel about internet swearing?
I do this, too. I occasionally swear on here, though. I suppose because I don't get the sense that any of the regulars on this board are terribly offended by it.
I do think it'd get confusing if we all used initials for our children as well as our significant others (see, now I'm avoiding acronyms!). Then we'd really have to know and remember more about all our families
Those are used most often and annoy me. Darling Daughter? Really? Who uses the word darling?
Some other ones are just practical like TTC. I agree AF is pretty dumb too. Who came up with these?
When I was first learning the meanings of dd/ds/dh etc....someone told me the d meant any adjective that started with a d that you wanted it to.....so dh could mean damn husband if you wanted it to, not just dear or darling.

I use all of the DH/DD/D-whatever acronyms, but it just is easier sometimes. I often use E when talking about DD since she's in my signature, but if I started posting things about M, rather than DH, I think people would get confused. I could use his real name, but I'm not sure that would always be clear either.

Totally OT, but when DH (his initial is N) went shopping last night he picked up some Cajun sesame sticks, but didn't finish them. So now I'm hanging out in the hotel bed eating them and I'm trying to decide if I should eat few enough for him to not notice or eat them all and go to the store and buy more so that he doesn't notice. WWCDBD?
You just baked him a HUMAN, Maple! Eat all the damned sesame sticks you please.

This. To me it just makes it clear who you're talking about. Not that you actually call them that IRL.
Is anyone on the Little Butt customs waiting list? I'm getting super annoyed that she's doing other diapers before customs. I've been on the list since January. She promised to do all the customs quickly before she opened up the shop again. She's already done a July 4th diaper and now a Superman group buy. I'm getting frustrated. I didn't mind waiting but now I'm just thinking of taking my name off the list since its taking so long.
@welly01 I've been on the list since November, I think. I keep checking to see how far down I am. It has moved a bit over the last month. I'm up at least 10 spots since early May. At least she has a limit of 2 diapers per spot so it should move pretty quickly. I already have a few of her diapers so I'm not bothered by it. There are some WAHMs who don't limit the amount per spot so the list is crazy. Then they post daily diapers and auctions all.the.time. That bothers me.
