This isn't exactly unpopular, but the new format on TB sucks!! And I can't for the life of me figure out how to put a new ticker up for P. I just get the URL every time. But at least I'm not 44 weeks pregnant anymore! (Right?)
TTC with PCOS since November 2009

Ben and Jerry's... If you like Nutella (and really it should be an unpopular opinion to not like Nutella!) the new Hazed and Confused is nirvana. Its Nutella ice cream. Yum.
The first time I had Nutella was in 1979/1980 and I hated it.....I still do. That's probably because I HATE hazelnuts.

I believe you can copy and paste the actual picture into your signature settings. You click on the little person icon on the top right to get to it on my laptop. Not sure about mobile.
I am looking for an etiquette class in my area. And if I find one S is taking it. And I hope it's totally cliche, I don't even care, I'll send her in a dress and tights even.
And also, half the time people only use initials I get confused. Unless it's like 5 regs.
My area has a cotillion group. I didn't even know things like that still existed. It makes me wonder what kind of demographic the parents are (rich and snobby? middle class?). Not judging, I'm just curious and surprised.

I worked for a family that did cotillion-son and daughter around age 10. it was North Carolina, though, so I don't know if that makes a difference?
the practices are ridiculously outdated, but it does teach those basics like courtesy and table manners
they were not rich and snobby. they were a family of working parents-middle class?
I wish I had grown up in a town like in vampire diaries with parties where teens wore fancy gowns and crap. Except without the vampires.
I don't know anything about vampire diaries but deep down I'm fancy and wish that I had those kinds of parties to go to.
DH's work does an annual semi-formal/formal Christmas party. I secretly love being able to basically go to adult prom every year! Don't tell DH, though. I like to complain about dress shopping and make it seem like I'm really going out of my way to schmooze for him
I am ridiculous excited to make it to my 20th anniversary at work (in like 7 years). Then you get inducted in this special "club"where basically you get to attend a fancy dinner once a year where you eat, drink free liquor and dance/socialize with the other old timers. You get to go every year until you die, even if you leave the company. DH is not excited.

So many reasons for me to get a job...
Or you could just wear a prom dress to dinner
But what about the free liquor, mandmeesh?! C'mon!!
Oh yeah. Maybe yh is out in the barn making moonshine? That's why he spends so much time out there

You don't make that in a barn, you make it in a tub.
I would be considered a fairly "religious" person irl (even though the word religious makes me itchy), and I still think it's annoying when people use door to door tactics and billboards to think they're going to sell a complete stranger on something that is very personal. it's why i also generally hate religious (and political) discussions on TB. no one is going to be converted because you're yelling your point of view the loudest.
i do think it's unfair, however, that I'm expected to be apologetic for having religious beliefs or that simply having beliefs that stem from a religious point of view automatically make me close minded. For the sake of example, if you ask me why I don't watch a certain popular tv and I tell you that it's not consistent with the values i embrace in my life, then that usually gets a side eye, but shrugged off. But if i say that i don't watch it because it's not consistent with the religious values i embrace in my life, then immediately i'm being condescending or closeminded. Nope. You're the one that asked me why I don't watch it. I didn't tell you what to do. I'm not protesting to get it taken off the air. I didn't push you to respond in the same way as I do whatsoever. I shouldn't have to be sorry that I believe something differently than what you believe.
Also, I hate nutella, but rest assured it is simply because it's disgusting and not because of any personal religious beliefs.
Another UO: I think we should combine UO/FFC on this board because they always seem to become one and the same.
Mind reader - I agree with all of this....except I get to say I don't watch a tv show because I don't have a tv hooked up to view tv/cable.

I lived in a rich and snobby town. Everyone did ballroom dance classes in fifth grade, and there was a cotillion in 11th grade. I never did the ballroom dance classes, but I was the only one who didn't. It was so weird. The cotillion was just a dance though. Still full of teenagers grinding up on one another. Not classy and no etiquette in sight. Edit: we moved there right before the ballroom classes and I thought it sounded nutso. I probably would have felt differently if I grew up there.
Grinding during ballroom dancing? Lol. According to our local group's website, they can start as young as kindergarten (what??!). They say that its manners, etiquette plus the dancing.
I would slightly consider putting DS in a group like this, just because no one really knows what real manners are anymore. But I wouldn't want him associating with super rich kids. We are definitely middle class and live in an area that has a significant number of lower income people. I want him to judge people by their character, not wealth or skin color. Also, I worked with a guy whose mother put him in calligraphy classes. To me that is so inappropriate for a boy but somehow so classy, you know?

That's good to know that middle class people would do something like that and it wouldn't just be all elitist kids.

but by saying you wouldn't want him associating with super rich kids aren't you judging people by their wealth and not their character? it works both ways, ya know.
Yeah, I guess it does go both ways. I have no idea what kind of kids go to the cotillion in my area. He will be exposed to all income levels at public places like school. I wouldn't want to put him in any type of club where all the members were from a different income level than us (high or low) where he gets a skewed view of how things are.
I'm not explaining myself very clearly. I guess I need to just shut up instead of digging a deeper hole.
