2 spaces, 37. I follow APA style for grad school, which is 2. But would do 2 regardless for anything professional. I'm so checking out everyone's spacing now.
1 space, 32. Typewriters used mono space fonts, so each character used an equal amount of space and it was sometimes awkward to read since it looked uneven. To make it easier to read, people started using 2 spaces. Today's fonts are proportional and therefore the character spacing is smoother, eliminating the need for 2 spaces. The only common exception? Courier.
2 spaces; 26. That is what we were taught in elementary school keyboarding and it has stuck with me. We were also taught to put a comma after the third item in a list, but apparently that's changed as well.
I use two commas when I am typing on a keyboard. When I am on my phone there ends up just being one because hitting space twice adds a period. I am 27 and I learned this in both AZ ans CA.
2 spaces as I was taught in 8th grade keyboarding and 9th grade BCIS as well as in college. I'm 26. However, when I was in law school it was 1 space. I did one space on those papers, but I had to work hard to remember because I have already become used to having two spaces.
1 space, I'm 25. I finished my English degree three years ago and I literally do not remember ever using two spaces for one single paper. I remember doing it back in gradeschool, though. I may have just messed it up after a while because I hate typing and always write everything out first. Never bothered much with formatting (pain in the a$$, I'm computer-challenged) or anything, just typed assignments out quickly before turning them in.
I was taught 2 spaces and did that up until recently when I learned it was supposed to be 1 now. I still sometimes do 2 if I'm not paying attention out of habit. Oh and I'm 32.
