I showed the pic of you tandem nursing that you posted on FB to MH. He thought it was really neat. He had a question I couldn't answer.
We all know that a mothers breast milk changes over time to meet the nutritional needs of her growing baby. But what happens when you are already nursing DD1 and you give birth to DD2? Does you milk reset to meet the needs of the newborn? So then DD1 is getting milk that is more suited to a younger baby?
Obviously DD1 is getting her nutritional needs met in other ways. Totally just curious.
Guise. I'm about to wax my legs myself while eating birthday cake Oreos (btw HOLY SHIT THESE OREOS) and watching tv. Gettin loose on a Wednesday night.
Probably over share... I think I'm part cow. Wtf is this?!?! Here's my 25 minute pump session from this morning.... Over 17oz.
woah. nice. dumb question but how do you get a new bottle to fill while you're pumping? Like when one fills up but the other isn't full yet, and you still have a ways to go?
Yeah. When my boobs feel like they did today (last pump was at 10pm and it was 7:30) I'll grab three bottles. Pump till 1 is about to overflow and then stop...cap that one and split what's in the second bottle into that one and the fresh one and then keep going (hope that makes sense?!)
Edit: FWIW I'll probably only pump 6-8pz the rest of the day (with 4-5 pump session).
I always pump 3-4 bottles in the morning and this is what I do: when one bottle is about to get full (he eats on one side in the morning usually, I will remove the tube from the side that's filled up (usually hold it in my knee-pit so it keeps a vacuum seal for other boob). I remove the connector off, unscrew the bottle and cap it, and screw a new bottle on. Then reconnect to the breast shield and put the tube back in. If for some reason my breasts are filling the bottles evenly I will pause the pump while I do that on each side and then restart it.
@mrsdahamm I pump about 10-30 min, huge range. Sometimes I'll get an unexpected second letdown but I usually just go until I've stopped and then a few more minutes.
I'm seriously in awe of those of you who find time to pump during the day while at home with their LO, esp those of you with more than one. By the time she finishes eating and I get her down for a nap and set myself up, she's awake again or maybe I am just doing too much during the day with her. I find about an hour at the end of the day and that's what I set aside for night feedings. I'm not finding the time to pump day milk. Hopefully I'll actually be able to pump something when I go to work on Monday.
I pump after he eats when he's playing on his activity mat. I have a hands free bra & I play with his toys, talk to him, etc while I pump at home. Pumping at work is way less fun than pumping during play time at home...
We live next door to my parents and my mom comes over a lot of mornings and plays with Henry while I pump. I hate mornings when she has to go to work early. I just love hearing/seeing them interact and he's happiest then.
@LakeCountryGal - I'm sorry your husband is being such a jerk. I can't imagine that screaming at you is helping to calm DS down at all. Does he usually have more patience or is that typical? I hope you can talk to him and get somewhere productive. I also hope you get some sleep.

I can't decide if this is a really good night or an example of torture.
I ignored this morning when she was fussy with DH. I had just nursed her for 45 mins and I wanted to stay in bed. I figured he's her dad, he'll figure something out. It only bought me an hour and a half but whatever. I can't always be there to rescue him.
I did this last weekend when I needed a nap. My DH stepped up really well, actually. He got her up, changed her diaper and was getting her dressed.
Which was where his super helpful plan fell apart. He didn't know the neck of the onesie had a button and got it stuck on her head and needed my help.
@babycaps it's on Nov14 board. The thread is called: "Educate yourself before you vaccinate". I'm mobile so I can't link but that will send you in the right direction.
@Jennibeanjld sorry I'm on mobile and have been super busy at work. I meant before my plane landed at home. So I went all the way up, had my interview, and before I got home they told me they gave it to someone else. After they sat there stroking my ego saying my presentation was wonderful but...I'm just upset I couldn't have done the phone interview like he originally suggested and that I put in a year there as a TA hoping to get hired on as a teacher (my friend did 3 years as a TA) and they didn't hire either of us. They went with complete outside people.
@Lakecountrygal Sorry your DH is being a jerk! I hope he realizes how lucky he is and maybe it was just a bad night. Zane does the music thing too, whereas I would much rather fix the problem than listen to her cry the whole way home. That's why I often sit in the back seat with Piper, but I bottle feed so I can feed her while we are driving.
@LakeCountryGal, my heart hurts for you. If my DH screamed at me at all, let alone in front of our son, he'd be finding another place to sleep. His behavior is unacceptable. You are essentially super woman and to have your husband tell you to shut your baby up is so far from okay, I can't even. He needs to wake up and realize the example he is setting. Many creepy stranger internet hugs to you.
Sorry for my rant! Husbands disrespecting the mother of their children just infuriates me.
Im so sorry for your loss @bennieangel. That's great that she got to meet T. @LakeCountryGal that is so upsetting that your husband spoke like that! I would be livid. I hope that never happens again. So I was right in the I barely slept last night from this cold. LO ironically was up every 1-2 hours too. Not sure of if I was keeping her up or something else is going on. But one of the times I woke up to her kicking her so hard but otherwise silent. When I picked her up she was choking/spitting. She's choked/spit many times but not like that. I'm so scared and so tired.
My first day back to work today and LO who has been STTN was all party in my crib at 3am this morning. Coincidence? I think not.
I'm incredibly sad about working and so conflicted like many women. I'm jealous that DH just knows his place in the world and I'm still trying to figure out if working is what's best for us.
I have a nanny and know I have it easier than most but I start traveling again next week and the thought of being away from him is almost too much.
@Sanibel21 I would be so freaking scared too! I have a love/hate relationship with this newborn/infant stage. They are so cute but so helpless it's scary.
I agree! I don't want to wish away all this cuteness but my anxiety is through the roof!
LO is super fussy and I have resorted to just letting her chew on my boob because it makes her happy. The funny thing is when DH suggested I do this a month ago I flipped my shit.
@bennieangel sorry for your loss @LakeCountryGal hugs @ProudMommy030614 idk but they really are. Mine has a man cold and is being a giant fuckhead. I was explaining to him last night how idiotic it is that he's smoking menthols while he's sick because it "soothes his throat," yet it makes it harder for him to breathe. Dumb. So he starts calling me names (not even good ones) and I laugh at him because he just keeps getting dumber. So that made him more mad so when I went to bed without saying anything to him he was all "I'm sorry. I'm sick" like I give a fuck or it excuses him being an ass.
I think I will join in the day drinking. We have a bottle of Captain Morgans I've been saving since pre pregnancy. Baby should be in bed in half an hour, so I'll join then
DH is doing bedtime routine right now. His methods are a bit...ummm...interesting.
I just found out that my 70 year old grandma passed last night, so sad. I am so glad we made the long & inconvenient trip to see her on her 70th birthday at the hospital last weekend, and that she got to meet T. She saw all of her family over the last week & she wasn't alone, which is a blessing. Working today is going to be hard.
I'm so sorry for your loss. My dad (82) and his GF (75) just met LO yesterday. I know what it's like to want parents/grandparents to meet our LOs before something happens.
Re: The Randomest Thread
I guess I'll have to look that up

@LakeCountryGal he's being an ass. We have your back. I second (third?) counseling.....

(It's just noon now, but still, both happy little kiddos today)
How did this happen?!??
My dad (82) and his GF (75) just met LO yesterday.

I'm glad your grandma was able to meet your LO.
@babycaps i was nauseated yesterday and my H was like.... Do i need to buy you a pregnancy test? God no.
My H took mia to the store with him around nine and still not back. I just had a wonderful 2.5 hour nap. Can he do this every off day?
