Ftr, I don't think you need to spend a lot on your wedding. We didnt, because we paid for it mostly ourselves. One of my favorite wedding receptions was in a church with a soup and sandwich lunch afterwards. It was a cold January day and just absolutely perfect for the couple.
But if you are going to spend $65,000 on the wedding, don't run out of food at cocktail hour or tell your bridesmaids they can't bring guests because you can't afford it.
My point is that even though the wedding is for you, it is a party, where you are inviting guests, so be considerate.
I had a dry wedding, in Wisconsin. It was a short ceremony outdoors at a botanical garden, followed by lunch for 40-50 people in a room overlooking the gardens. We had excellent food, and drinks included a flavored lemonaide bar, iced tea, sparkling cider, coffee, etc. DH wanted to avoid alcohol entirely to prevent certain alcoholic family members from getting drunk and fighting.
Was it Olbrich Gardens?? We want to do our wedding there!

All of this is making me want to have a wedding again.
Same. But then I remember I'm not pretty and skinny anymore. Oh well!
Omg! Shut yo mouth girl. You are both.
When I get skinny again. Hopefully by 5 year anniversary we will re-new vows and I will wear another wedding dress I bought but didn't wear. Same location

Ditto!!! We have so many upcoming weddings it makes me nostalgic. Here are my wedding flowers ( had to match the shoes). My bridesmaids each carried a dozen matching roses and the flower girls had 6.
We didn't spend a ton on flowers. We had small vases (like bud vases) with 1 or 2 flowers a piece with lots of candles as the center pieces. I had a small bouquet, and my bridesmaids matched. We had a couple vases at the ceremony, but that was about it. We spent way more on the food, which was delicious, and alcohol because we're lushes! Lol!!
I'm really happy I don't need to plan a wedding ever, again.
Seriously. I barely did it the first time. (We got married in St. Martin, and it was suuuuper-casual. There might have been post-reception drunken skinny-dipping.)
Oh, also, my sister made the cake, and we dismembered my bouquet to decorate it! Calla lilies in pretty sunset colors.
Our wedding was very different but very us. We rented a 10 bedroom extremely luxurious chalet and invited our closest family and friends to stay. We had our ceremony there as well as a private chef. We paid for it ourselves and decided to have it small and intimate. It ended up costing us way less than a traditional wedding. I wouldn't change a thing about it.
I loved my fake flowers I told the florist I loved glitter and sparkle. She lined each lily in all the bouquets (7) with glitter. We didnt save much, for our area, going with fake either. We provided beer and soda. I wanted to avoid the hard liquor drunks...and then a friend of DH decided to clear out his liquor cabinet and brought it all to the reception. Between bar hopping (WI tradition) and the stocked limo bus most of the wedding party was toast before dinner.
Considering I live in WI...I only like a few kinds of cheese.
Bottle propping...use your common sense. If you need/want to do so...be smart about it, dont leave baby alone or in a situation you cant help immediately.
First 2 are pictures or pictures...my bouquet and the unity candle holder which we used on the head table after. Then the 3rd is the best thing about fake ones...I just took that pic. They still look pretty 10 yrs later.
All these fake flowers look so real... You all might be changing my mind...
I agree but I'm still a fan of real flowers. Even though I wanted green hydrangeas I compromised because I had a certain budget for flowers. I'm very happy with how the flowers came out. Even without my green hydrangeas.

I wanted the blue ones! They were too $$$ though. I love your flowers & hair.

If I had all the money in the world, I would've done peonies and hydrangeas EVERYWHERE. Sigh.

My SO is a landscaper and his parents own a nursery. His mom also does weddings. So, I foresee lots of flowers in my future.

We had flowers on our cake. (Real flowers)
My flowers. (Real) Cascading stargazer lilies with some roses and calla lilies.
The girls' flowers (Real). My sister was my MOH. She had roses with the stargazer lilies. The rest were just stargazer lilies.
