Who has two thumbs, is still 1cm dilated, but now 50% effaced and might be induced on June 21st? *points to self* THIS girl.
O--M--G. I was already spazzing about being due in 5 weeks, but now it might be 3w3d til I get to meet this little wiggler. Totally conflicted but so very excited to see this baby and smooch her up!!
Staaaahhhp! I'm still trying to convince myself I have all the time in the world to get shit done before this kid gets here. I can't believe some of you ladies are so close to your due/induction dates!!
Ditto! That's so exciting! I can't believe I still have NINE WEEKS until my due date! I know it will go fast, but it seems like an eternity compared to some of you ladies
Hmm, this is good to know! We are giving our baby 2 middle names, but we figured she wouldn't really use them in day to day life (her first name will be Claire, which is simple and easy). I kind of just naively assumed that she'd have to write them on a form a few times a month and that would be the extent of her frustrations with the name.
What's the big pain, if you don't mind me asking?
I know that DH's last name is two words (Van Lastname), so he's always had a problem with people thinking that Van is his middle name and thinking the second word is his actual last name. It screws things up a lot with hotel and airline reservations, but we didn't think that a middle name would cause her any problems. This poor kid will have enough problems with Van Lastname!
I don't really know! Whenever I brought it up, people with four names would say it was such a hassle.. but it doesn't really seem like that big of a deal to me either! (Although I only have 3 names so I have no personal experience). I didn't really have my heart set on two middle names, and DH didn't want two middle names, so with so many people telling me it was a pain I just decided to give up on the idea.
I don't think it's that you have to fill out paperwork all the time so much as that when you do fill out paperwork for various forms, the forms tend to be very inconsistent, which results in your name ending up inconsistent across various things.
On a related note, I have various certificates hanging on the wall in my office at work, all in my maiden name. I didn't thoroughly consider the option of making my maiden name a second middle name because I didn't want the alleged hassle of two middle names.. But now when I look at the certificates on the wall I kind of wish I had went for Firstname Middlename Maidenname Lastname so I still had some connection to the prior professional me. I could always switch it.. But I still have credit cards and bank accounts with my old name and I've been married for nearly 2 years now... Clearly I'm not the type to stay on top of paperwork ;-)
Well....sorta. We are planning now to move Rowdy to his middle name, combined with the other middle name we had, which is an even crazier name! Let's say the other middle name is "Kick" (it's not).
We have two "normal" names picked out for the first name, one I like and one DH likes, and we are going to hold a coin flipping ceremony soon to decide which one it will be. No backsies!
The issue now is how to do the middle names. Should it be FN "Rowdy Kick" LN, FN "RowdyKick" LN, or FN "Rowdy-Kick" LN.
There's some confusion over how these various incarnations would show on his Social Security card, etc. Thoughts ladies?

************ This is part of the reason I didn't change my last name when we got married! Too many choices and I couldn't decide what to do with my middle/maiden, and tbh I am not a fan of the two word last name. Mine is much easier
@TallMomma29 they told me when I got married that in California you can only get one middle name. Of course this was in Hawaii, so who knows.
Also in creepy stalkerness, I'm convinced I saw you at South Coast Plaza.
Now that you mention it, I remember someone telling me that too which was another factor (I didn't bother to look it up myself, I just took a fellow Californian's word for it. Basically I am lazy and avoid all unnecessary hassles whenever possible ;-)).
I don't think I've been at South Coast Plaza recently but I do work in Orange County and go there sometimes! Also, was the woman you saw pregnant? I am pretty sure there is a women in so cal who looks just like me and is also pregnant because I've been mistaken for someone else several times recently! I want to find my doppleganger!
Yes! How funny you have a pregnant doppelgänger. My @TallMomma29 /wannabe TallMomma sighting was a ways back (Easter time?). Shopping with a two and a half year old is just as fun as you could imagine.

I have two names as my first name, but they aren't connected. Ex: Anna Marie Middle Last
This has been super annoying to me because technically Marie isn't my middle name, but my mom always used 'M' as my middle initial and middle name on documents. When I got to college, I put "Anna Marie" as my first name and 'Middle' as my middle name. The college, for some reason, dropped 'Marie' and on my diploma and student ID, my name reads "Anna Middle Last".
I think that if you stick to one way (Marie as the middle name or Middle) then it won't be an issue. Keep in mind that on paperwork and what not, there is only a spot for your middle initial.

I hear ya! Today I had a dentist appointment and had to make a follow-up appt in 6 weeks, and I nearly had a panic attack in the dentist's office when I realized that the next time I come in I will have an outside baby. You mean I actually have to give birth soon and then take care of a tiny human on the outside?! :-o
I'm impressed you made a follow up appointment for when you'll basically be 2 weeks PP. Not sure I could do that.
You guys are making me re-think Alice's double middle name. Maybe June-Louise instead of two separate names? I never thought of all the future explaining/writing she would have to do!

I have died every day waiting for you. Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years. And all along I believed I would find you, time has brought your heart to me. I have loved you for a thousand years. I'll love you a thousand more.

Ah! I have no idea if it could have been me then! If you see me/wannabeme again, ask her if her name is Michelle. I think that would be a little less offensive to non-me than "are you tall momma?!" ;-)
@jnnfrrose6, I have invisalign so it's just a quick appointment to check my progress and give me more aligners. Otherwise I wouldn't do it either!
I know a few cats who love these esp if it's on a particularly sunny window. Not sure how easy they are to put up. Mine always liked a cat condo by a window too.

~went natural - very intense. whew!~

Um, whoever told you that you can only have one middle name in CA was a fool. When I got married I took my DHs last name and moved mine to the second middle name position.
I haven't really had to deal with a ton of paperwork so I can't attest to how much of a pain in the ass it is.
He falls asleep and I feel I could die of love when I watch him,
and I think to myself that he is what angels look like. Then I doze off,
too, and it’s like heaven, but sometimes only twenty minutes later he
wakes up and begins to make his gritchy rodent noises, scanning the room
wildly. I look over at him in the bassinet, and think, with great
hostility, Oh, God, he’s raising his loathsome reptilian head again.
When I go over to the bassinet to pick him up, though, he
looks up at me like I’m Coco the clown—he beams, and makes raspberries,
and does frantic bicycle kicks like he’s doing his baby aerobics. Then I
feel I can go on.

I freaking hate my married name. I was Miquela Middle Maiden, then on my marriage license I decided to move Maiden to second Middle but then at social security somehow ended up being Miquela Middle Maiden Married with two last names and no hyphen. I wish I would have just dropped the damn Middle name. That being said, it's got to be easier to have two middle names than two last names. On most forms, middle name is optional.
Eta: you know when you say a word too many times and it becomes really weird sounding? I can't stop saying "middle maiden middle maiden." My dog is looking at me like I'm nuts.
My farts stink awful today. Like I can't handle them myself ... but the dogs clear out too.
Glad I'm not the only one! Ran my hubs out of the car tonight after our Mother/Infant Assessment class! Guess it's a good thing we were in a parking lot? ">
DH is traveling or he'd have the flight response too let's hope this is just a one night thing!
First World Problem Thursday: I have a Keurig, and in the minute it takes to brew a cup of coffee I almost always manage to forget I was making a cup of coffee, and by the time I remember the coffee is already lukewarm (
When i was on the fetal monitor a few days ago at the hospital, they kept talking about how much movement there was from the baby on the graph and how weird it was that i dont really feel much of it at all. At one point my husband said 'Seriously, I think the baby is jazzercising' and Im still laughing 3 days later.
Ok, I've been wondering for a little bit now because she's been referenced, but what exactly happened with funnibunni? I was out for a bit and apparently missed something. There were signs she might be BSC, but did something actually happen to prove it?
Thanks @jessa8907 and @tundrabunny. Thought I missed some big GBCB thread or something. Guess not
Did you see the post about her husband's dog that she keeps locked in the garage? That really pushed everyone over the edge.

That sounds familiar. Maybe I didn't see it to the end, though. Obviously no big deal, just thought I might have missed some big fireworks or something. Guess I'm just fishing for some drama to entertain me for a bit...looks like I'll head over to TTGP to lurk for a bit and see how many "Did this happen to you when you were pregnant, but I'm not actually asking if I might be pregnant" posts they've got today.
SO's mom just told me I couldn't eat the turkey and cheese sandwich I just made for myself and tried to physically take it away from me as I went to take a bite.
I am SOOOOOOOOO glad we'll be back in our own house by tomorrow.
Whaaaat?? WTF was she thinking? You're not 5. I want to throat punch her for u!

WTAF? Why?
lunch meat is the devil... apparently.
There's an annoying guy in our office who regularly asks what I'm having for lunch and then if he can "hold my (insert whatever I'm having for lunch)." He's implying he wants to eat it or whatever and thinks it's funny/cute/who the hell knows what he's thinking. WTAF? Stay away from my food. Pregnant or not, you don't even imply that you're going anywhere near the food that's about to go in my mouth. Pretty much lost it on him today after he equated me telling him no (again) to a dog when you try to take their food bowl away.
since all the newbies like to drop the sex bomb right away, I should have done an intro post and just said "hey there. I'm uws22, and I'm sleeping with KleMcK."

Its official. Dr took me off of work til I deliver. Modified bedrest. Unless baby comes early, Ill have to to back to work before the 6 weeks is up because ill be out of FMLA. For the first time, I hope baby comes as soon as he/she hits full term :-/

I hate hearing these stories, I am sorry your dealing with this. I am sure you've looked in to your options, but is there a way you could be covered for disability during your leave now rather than use up FMLA time?
In my state FMLA covers care for a loved one and disability covers time off for an individuals own illness.
It sucks that you have to dip in to bonding time with baby for your own health care.
Yeah the benefits provider said i could discuss additional time. My short term disability benefit actually covers 180 days, which is awesome, but I lose the 'job protection' of FMLA after 12 weeks. Im hoping everything is a little clearer when I get my packet in the mail in a week. Fingers crossed!
