Yeah the benefits provider said i could discuss additional time. My short term disability benefit actually covers 180 days, which is awesome, but I lose the 'job protection' of FMLA after 12 weeks. Im hoping everything is a little clearer when I get my packet in the mail in a week. Fingers crossed!
Total throat punch to the TSA woman who just gave me the stink-eye when she asked how long i have to go, and i told her i still had two months left. if i hadn't hurried my way past her and into the scanning machine i think she would have questioned me further. she started to say something to me, but i didn't stick around to hear it.
F-U lady. i was actually wanting to "opt out" of the scanning and take the pat down, but since it would have been you doing it, i decided it was worth just going through. this is my LAST FLIGHT, and i'm on my way home, and no one is going to stop me from getting there you Sh^t-b@g.
Sitting here waiting to get an NST because my little lady is being a PITA and decided she doesn't need to move today....so now I'm all panicky and it's probably nothing :-/
Our family photographer keeps posting pictures of this kid named Corbin which I am finding annoying because the more she does it the more popular I feel like ithe name is (ds2 name). We picked it because it was fairly unpopular. I'm being irrational but I don't care. Arggggg.

If it bothers you just start lying to the,m like I do. You won't see these people again so I don't care if I tell them the wrong due date.

The problem is that I can't tell her I am due any sooner because of the "no fly" rules. She obviously thought I was lying in the first place - she thought I was due sooner because I'm so huge. If I had said mid august, then she really would have been suspicious. lose-lose.
By telling her the truth, two months, I am not even in the 32 week zone, let alone 36. I felt like Maya Rudolph in the movie Away We Go - when the airline people made them take the train because they thought she was too pregnant to fly...wasn't going to let THAT happen! I gotsta get to Philly!
@alwaysnc4me So glad you went in to get checked, now you can rest your mind a bit. Thank God for good results. Your little PITA deserves a big hot fudge sundae or something tonight.
I wish I didn't have as much grey hair as I do. I would really like to go back dark. Unfortunately, that would require 3-4 week dye jobs which...ain't nobody got time fo!
Went for a nst today before getting my steroid shot. Turns out I'm contracting pretty regularly at 2 minute intervals. The doctor checked me and thank goodness he's not coming yet. They just suck. Today was my last day of work (summer vacation yo!), so hopefully that'll help keep him cooking.

That's when you lie and say..."I'm not pregnant, thanks for ruining my day!" I would hope that could make for an awkward situation which would result in her shutting her pie hole and getting you through screening.
Just spent a couple hours in L&D... Not sure what to think? I went in because of pretty bad rib pain on my right side, thought I should get my bp/urine checked just in case and my next appt isn't until next week.
They ended up wheeling me away to L&D, hooking me up to monitors, and checked my Bp and urine (both fine)
While she was testing my urine the monitor showed contractions I couldn't feel, then she turned me to my side and I kept having them, only I could feel them in my back every time. This went on 45 minutes or so? They gave me a shot of terbutaline, monitored some more, checked my cervix (still closed! She said it was a little soft though) and made me an appointment for tomorrow morning to recheck everything. They also pulled me out of work for the weekend.
Not sure what to expect at this point, but at 33w1d I know it's still a bit too early for things to start going, so I'm hoping it's not a big deal.
Also, the rib pain remains a mystery, but now I'm glad I went in for it!
@mamakiss, I'm glad you got checked out & that you're outta work this weekend, hopefully that'll put a stop to the contractions. Keeping fingers crossed your LO stays put!
Glad everything was well enough to be discharged and hope the pain doesn't return.

What would you do (low-risk pregnancy): Deliver at a relatively bare bones military hospital with unfriendly staff for close to free or switch insurance, primary care doctor and OB so you could deliver in a brand new up to date hospital with nice staff who are all lactation consultants for a little more money?
Am I being a dumb princess for not wanting to deliver at the smelly old army hospital?
@symphony4586 DH made me tour the nice hospital because I was being stubborn and said the military one was tolerable and would save us money. Now I feel like a spoiled brat for wanting the Hilton hospital with wood floors, nice decor and advanced technology over the Days Inn hospital that hasn't been updated since the 50s. I agree with you, though. I just feel stupid.

If it were me, I would deliver at the cheaper hospital and use the money I saved to go buy something nice afterwards just because I didn't care about the things you mentioned. However, if you have the money and would rather spend it on the nicer hospital, I would go for it.

For me it depends on how much money we're talking about. If it's in the thousands, I'd probably suck it up...but if it's less and we could afford it, I would want the nicer place too.
@mamakiss, glad you went in. At this point, it's better to trust your gut and head into L&D than to potentially miss something that might be big. 9 times out of 10 it's not, but you just can't know. Rest up and feel better!

I did this! I started at the military hospital but hated it, and I switched somewhere around 26 weeks. I had been having dreams where I decided to just give birth at home with tylenol because I didn't want to deal with the hassle of the military hospital. I LOVE my new OB and the much closer, much nicer hospital!
I was worried about being a princess with the money too, but if you are just switching from the free tricare to the one where you have to pay, I am pretty sure the only thing you have to pay for is some silly fee like $25/day when you're actually in the hospital for the birth. Do it!!
I had some crazy dreams last night. One involved my co-worker's adopted son from Ethiopia, except in my dream he was my son. I also still had DS, so they were brothers, but they were also still their current ages (5 months apart) and he wasn't adopted.
The other had me flying home from somewhere (not sure where) and being told that I was on the stand-by list. I got pretty furious with the gate agent apparently because I had been switched to this flight, but no one had ever mentioned anything about stand-by and I had to get home (for what reason, I don't know, except that it had to do with getting home to my kids). Next thing I know, the plane is being boarded and doors shut and I'm not on it. There were a lot of F bombs being dropped and I woke up angry over the whole thing. I caused quite a scene in the dream.
@TallMomma29 Yeah, I'd have to go from TriCare Prime to TriCare standard to get civilian care which is like $12/month instead of free. The hospital stay is $23/night instead of $13 with prime. I think it's worth it, but I feel so snobby. Haha. Whatever. The military hospital smells like poop all the time. Ughhhhh.

TOTALLY worth it if that's the cost difference. Hell, a 3 night stay is less than a good meal out at a nice restaurant.
Since DH lived on a ship for months, and still has to spend a lot of nights there, I have noticed he has started doing this thing where he snuggles with a pillow while sleeping. He basically snuggles the pillow like he usually snuggles me right before falling asleep (he starts out cuddling me and then at some point ends up with the pillow). I find it pretty adorable to see my big military DH cuddling a pillow. However, he keeps taking one of my pillows from me in the middle of the night. Like in his sleep he will yank the pillow out from under my head! X(
I need to buy him another pillow to hug. You can't be taking pillows from your pregnant wife!
Bitch/rant: I pretty much have names picked out for #2 but could have been swayed if "ex" had a preference. I sent him an email on Tuesday with the list of 3 names that I was contemplating. I thought I would give him the courtesy of putting in his 2 cents or blowing my mind with a name of his own choosing. His response that I got at 10pm last night was "yeah, they all sound like shit". YTF do I even try?
@mamakiss - so glad that you were able to be discharged - GOOD LUCK in the follow up today. i hope it goes well and that LO is staying put!
@MSUDucks - thank you! i couldn't get on a flight until 2:10pm, so i'm just trying to get work done until then. as annoying as last night was, 1) it was totally out of my control, so why worry, 2) it was REALLY amusing to see these two business travelers who got drunk waiting for the plane and then the woman gave me her isle seat so she could sit next to him, and then as we were getting off the plane i heard her say "you wanna sleep with me?" Gross, but TOTALLY amusing. 3) i have to admit that it is nice to get room service and eat breakfast in my underwear while bumping
@Emilyfae - DO IT - if the hospital is not only nicer, but has better care (which i'm not sure you mentioned) then the less than $100 it will be is totally worth it for your peace of mind. i wouldn't want to smell poop while i was in labor either

My DH just spent a year in 3 different training environments and he's picked up the habit of sleeping with his hand over his eyes and elbow pointed directly at my face. I wake up to an elbow in my eye almost every night. I envy you.

Gross! I have no sense of smell so I have no idea about the one I was going to, but that would definitely be a swaying factor as well! ;-)
Its official. Dr took me off of work til I deliver. Modified bedrest. Unless baby comes early, Ill have to to back to work before the 6 weeks is up because ill be out of FMLA. For the first time, I hope baby comes as soon as he/she hits full term :-/
Look into FMLA laws. Is it possible you can go back for one day and then start over? I feel like that might be a thing.

If it's that cheap, I'm not sure why you are even questioning it.

Never mind, it says 12 weeks in a 12 month period. I'm sorry.
@tourqeyes It's mainly me being stubborn. Like "I can do this, it's not that bad". I guess pride plays a role, too. So really, it's my own fault. If a bunch of other women can deliver there, I should be able too as well. I worked at a really nice hospital before moving and I was used to happy, well trained employees and nice equipment, so I would be more comfortable switching.
