@Kristy774 - Thanks, I love to read the boards, but I'm relatively new to this. I'm bad at noticing nicknames and when the previous post was. I didn't realize this was 5 pages long already when I started reading it. So I don't know who's active, inactive, etc. ">
DH wants to keep our name choices very close to the chest. We have a boy's name, but not a girl's yet (everyone keeps telling us it's a boy). My family didn't do a great job of keeping the fact that I was pregnant a secret early on (we love to share good news, it was well meant) and DH would have preferred that only immediate family knew until I got to 12 weeks at least. So awhile back he said nobody gets to know the name until the kiddo is here. Which will be hard for me. I love sharing! And I think our boy's name is awesome.
For fun, girls names I love that we probably won't use, just so I can join in

@highbornhunter - Love the name Astrid and it fits so well with my Scandinavian roots (my dad was a Dane) however for some reason DH doesn't like any of the girl options. He's totally into our boy name of Magnus Axel though (Axel after my grandfather)
Girl - Evelyn Marie (my grandmother's name). I hate that Evelyn is super popular, but it is a name that means a lot to me since I lost my grandma 20 years ago this year, and I really miss her.
Boy - That's hard. Maybe Jacques. I just don't want him to be called Jack. It's the French form of James (not Jack or John). DH is French and will want a French name, and my dad is James. I am at a loss when it comes to boy names.
ETA - I don't know why this is in blue font. Must mean I am having a boy
Ugh! I hate that old fashioned names are getting popular too.
When I choose DD name 6 years ago (Elenore) everyone hated it. Then when I names my other DD Rosalie I had never even heard the name before and now I see so many people choosing that name.
Same with the name we have picked out for this baby (Addison) I've loved for 8 years but only now got dh to agree to it and it's super popular.

End rant. Fwiw, I love the name Evelyn!
MEEE TOO!!!!!! My favorite names have always been 'old fashioned names" that people didn't use. For years and years before I had kids. (Ruby, Hazel, Violet, Matilda, Vera etc) Now it seems like old lady names are coming in style and so everyone thinks im on a trend. Annoying.

I actually read an article not too long ago that this happens all the time. People don't normally name their kids that are popular in their parents generation bc it seems old or too close for comfort to them. they will however give names that are popular in their grandparents generation.
@highbornhunter don't hold your breathe waiting for a response from iheartscraps....
No one has said our name yet.... I'm hesitant to put it on here, I think I'm going to wait a little longer
Same here! We're not telling anyone our name choices IRL. So far we can get away with just saying we haven't talked about it yet (not true at all). Soon I'll probably switch to telling people that we waiting to meet them to decide. We're team green, so that makes some sense...
@lizgrace03 it's such a nice name! You don't hear it very often and we like unique names. We decided we are waiting to find out the sex so our baby will be names once we meet him or her!!
Alright guys, here's my issue. The girl name we both like is Ava. Aside from being popular, I'm worried its too rhymey with DD's name, Jayla.
For a boy, DH has agreed his name could be used as middle name instead of first (yay!) But there is still an issue. His name is an adjective, which I'm hoping would be easier in the middle but its still tough.
His name is Golden. I seriously can't think of any boy names I like to go with Golden. And last name ends with "on" which makes it hard to get a full name to flow.....halp

People really stress about name flow, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Once LO is here whatever you name him/her will seem natural anyways so worry more about a name you love rather than how it rolls off the tongue.
I have the same issue because our last name is only one syllable, so a lot of names seem awkward and wonky, but I'm over it now because I'm not throwing out names I love just because it seems a little odd with our last name.

My DD is Ava so I may be a little bias... I wasn't happy that it is such a popular name either, but I grew up with a popular name and it wasn't a big deal to me. we went for it and turns out although it is a popular name as a whole it really isn't that popular where we live. Her best friend's name is Ayla and I thought it would be hard to keep their names straight, but it's been surprisingly easy!

I wouldn't worry about it if you really like the name. It is not a huge deal. If I knew someone who had kids with those names I probably wouldn't even notice they are too similar. It's really just the "ah" sound.

No worries
