My kid is turning into such a hoarder lately. Every time I want to take her upstairs or downstairs, I have to wait for her to grab 3 sippy cups, a doll, a lovie, 2 cars, a purse, 4 board books and 3 balls. Or something similar. I used to be able to carry both the baby and the toddler upstairs at the same time, but now my toddler just has too. much. stuff.
DD came home from daycare recently with an arm to Mr. Potato head down her shirt. Ultimate hoarder.
Wedding question: DH and I are both part of my brothers wedding party. On the dress and tux alone we have already shelled out close to $400. Last night I got a text from one of the bridesmaids showing us the shoes we need to buy. Although they are only $40, they have a 4" stiletto heel! I never wear heels because I can't walk in them. The tallest I have ever worn in 2.5" and they weren't stiletto.
Question is, do I suck it up and wear them so I don't ruffle any feathers or propose a similar style to the bride?
Her style is in the pic below and I already own a pair of peep toe black heels (with a much shorter heel and no platform), so they are fairly similar.
ETA: heels I own are below.
I would just wear the shoes for pictures and ceremony and switch to the other pair for the reception. I always end up in flip flops at the end of the night because I hate wearing heels.

These San Diego wildfires are crazy and scary right now. A lot of my friends have been evacuated from their homes. And SIL's college graduation was canceled because one of the fires is right behind the campus.

Sometimes I think I must really be a snob and that I've brought DH over to my dark, snobby ways. The whole thing with the crappy JC Penney pictures yesterday made me realize this, as both my SILs just thought that the main picture for their dad was "adorable" and "so cute."
DH, my Mom, 2 of my co-workers and my BFF all thought that it was horrible and the fact that my SIL paid for them was ridiculous.

Where um with Dr Scolls to walk down the isle and bring flats for after/the reception.

@jenndub I was thinking about you guys last night. It is crazy scary. I hope you're staying safe.
We had to temporarily evacuate Tuesday afternoon but lucky were able to come back that night.
I have a wedding next weekend. I will probably just go to the reception. DH doesn't want to go so he is going to stay home with G. I'm going to wear my new black dress but I'm not sure what shoes to wear with the dress. I can't wear too high of a heel. Comfort and I'm too tall. I have a sandal wedge that has cork and scrolling on the bottom. That's like the only thing I can think to wear. Not sure. It's kinda fancy.
I'm excited for you! A break from G and a chance to socialize @redneckmomma25 ! You gotta selfie, cause you'll be gorgeous.
Wow I sound like a Creepy McCreeperson.
I'm so excited. It's my good friend's brother getting married. I am only going to see her and dance! My dad and step mom will be there....awkward haha. It's ok though I haven't seen my friend since G's birthday party!

And/or suggest to the other girls they pick up a pair of these to wear after pictures and such.
I have my first case of poison ivy for the season. On my face. Fun.

I don't see any harm asking the bride to consider lower heels since you will be wobbling down the aisle in these. Do they still sell your shoes in store so you can send her a picture of them new and the other girls can get the same if she is going for matchy matchy?

None of the kids here are in school. You'd think they won the lottery they are so thrilled. Ha.

Depending on how good of a friend a nice bottle of wine, since your crafty you could add some etched wine glasses as well.

I highly doubt it. I got them at Marshalls back in 2010. Regardless of which pair I wear they will be coming off after the ceremony and pictures. I can't be the only woman who can't walk in heels.

That's a wonderful idea. Why didn't I think of that?!
She did her Ph.D in Neuroscience and was studying the effects of THC on the brain in breast cancer patients...maybe I should get her some Sweet Survivor wine, which is from a local winery here... :-) That with a gift card to a nice restaurant so they can go on a date now that she's not at work/school 80 hours a week anymore....
Fucking fuck. Daycare just called. C is throwing up. I'm really glad I drove my 1 hr. 10 mins. to work for 1 hr. 20 mins. to drive back 1 hr. 10 mins. X(
Maybe they'll let me do some work from home. Fingers are crossed.
Oh no! I hope she feels better. I'd definitely just tell them you'll log in from home rather than pose it as a question.
Thanks! Seeing as I am on week... 6? of being at this place, I'm surprised they're allowing me to work from home at all.
I've been garage saling all morning. New Sony DVD player ($10), an awesome new computer chair ($15), a snow blower, a set of Calphalon frying pans ($10), and miscellaneous other items for the kid of course are all on list of awesomeness. And the best part, it's only Thursday.
No one gives two shits, but I had to tell someone.
Can someone come remind my kid what a nap is...and that it's not "poop several different times time?" I'm so tired of her not sleeping during nap time and then being a cranky face the rest of the day.
I try to tell her that she doesn't get to be fussy if she chooses not to sleep! If only she understood logic and reasoning.

We have never done gifts for friends graduating. If they are hosting a party, I would bring a host gift like a bottle of wine but I think the gift card is kind of overboard. But your group might be different and more gift giving than ours.

I so wish we could see these pics. But I can imagine them based on other photographic crap I've seen.
There is a woman on my team whose son is 11.5 months old. He didn't gain weight since his last checkup, so the doctor was a bit concerned. The doctor apparently told her that her son should be having 30-36 ounces of milk a day.
*************
Holy shiitake mushrooms! My kids get about 16 oz of milk a day, they eat other things....this kid should be too. Also, we were told by the pedi that too much milk actually depletes the calcium children get BECAUSE they end up getting full on milk and refuse to eat anything else. So much for a balanced diet. Your boss is a coxsackie sucker.
My cousin's child was diagnosed with anemia a few months ago. They contributed it to a milk and calcium overload. I've not done the research, but that is what the doctors said.

Are the dresses long? If so I'd definitely ask if wearing something you already own is ok. If it's short I'd still ask.
Yeah, can't hurt to ask, but be prepared that she may say no if she's really set on matching. FWIW, I think it's stupid for bridesmaids to have to all wear the same shoes.
I think it's asinine to demand matching shoes without something else going on (like I was in one wedding that we all wore our own black dresses but matching (inexpensive) brightly colored shoes).
Since the height of the heel is an issue for you (another reason it's stupid to demand matching shoes--what physically works for one person doesn't for another), I would contact the bride directly (bridesmaids shouldn't be dictating this stuff, IMO), and tell her "Cute shoes! But there's no way I'll make it down the aisle in them. I have a really similar pair with a lower heel--hope that's ok!" I wouldn't bring up money at all. "Hope it's ok!" wording says "I'm really not interested in debating this, but I'm leaving the door open if it's truly an issue."
My cousin is 32. Two years ago, he got a divorce and became depressed. He started drinking a lot. He has diabetes and high blood pressure. This weekend he was admitted to the hospital with pancreatitis. There's been a lot of complications and now he's headed to the ICU on a ventilator. We are getting really worried about the outcome. My family is a mess. He has a 4 yo son.
History cannot repeat itself again. I'm a nervous wreck. We say the men in my family are cursed. My mom's dad died in his late 30's of cancer. Her younger brother died at 16 drinking and driving. Her older brother (cousin's dad) died at 30 drinking and driving. Her husband (my dad) died at 39 from a heart attack. All of this history is just haunting us right now and making the situation even worse.

Maya has always been this way. We had to start telling her that she can only bring one thing and make her choose.
I'm part of a community group that awards scholarships for women in college. Pre-reqs are that they are good students, going for social services careers and have great financial need. Our top winner this year might now have to forfeit the scholarship because she has an outstanding bill with the college, and the school says they're going to take any incoming funds to pay off her balance. The purpose of the scholarship is for future studies, not to pay a debt. This just seems to highlight the fact that this woman really needs the help.

Maybe I'm not understanding all of the implications, but what's the big deal if the school takes the scholarship for debt or for future studies? It's still going toward her education...

So I'm working from home now, and got C down for a nap. I went to go rinse my plate from lunch, and the spigot fell off my kitchen sink!
The guy got out here in literally 10 minutes, and it's fixed now. But seriously! haha
