I need to AW this pic and I have a question.

Has anyone used care.com to find childcare? I'm wondering if it's worth it.

My vet (also a mom) was just talking about this yesterday! She used care.com & thought it was great. Only caution was they continue to charge your card like $40 monthly so watch for that.

  • Omg. Was reading birth stories on may 14 and sobbed my way through the stillborn post. I can't even imagine.

I just read it too, how heart breaking.

  • So of course my little stinker woul be WIDE awake all morning and when I finally give in and have my coffee and commit to being up, he falls asleep!

  • @Mrscrcalli I think our LO's went to the same class or something. She's snoozing peacefully for the last two hours and I'm all jacked up on caffeine.

LO has a stuffy nose and a crusty eye... :(. Had her pedi appointment yesterday and cried all the way tgere and cleared herself out. Pedi wasn't concerned.

Poor baby can barely breath through her nose :(

My little guy has the exact same issues!

Saline drops and snot sucker. They hate it but it helps them breathe easier.

That helped. She's definitely not a fan though. But nothing cuddles and nursing couldn't remedy.

Why do they get so congested if they aren't sick? Pediatrician said the passages were small and that its not allergies. ( and she's not sick).

But can I prevent it? And will it go away?
  • Thank you @MrsStanton87‌ and @PoppySeedWindsor‌! I mostly bump when LO is nursing and the RTT has kept me entertained :)
  • Finally got my engagement ring on! I pretty much shoved it on, so it's likely stuck until I lose some weight. Buttt it's on and I'm happy - I missed it!

    I haven't even tried yet
  • I feel really guilty about giving the paci before 4 weeks. I had the best of intentions, but my child is a super-sucker & my nipples were shredded. Cue bad mommy music :( (To be clear, I DO NOT think anyone else is bad for this! It's just my personal mommy guilt because I said I wasn't going to do it and didn't even make it a week without caving during a melt-down)

Me too- for about 5 minutes! He still sucks like a champ and he's soothed in between feedings! No more guilt :) we started on day 7!!!'so thankful I gave in! Don't feel bad at all!

  • I'm trying to tell myself I'm thankful that DH didn't get any time off other than the hospital stay, because it means I don't have to go through the transition of going from help to no help.

    Really though, still jealous.

My husband only had a week off and is now working 50-60 hours a week. Plus has an hour commute each way.,. We hardly see each other :(
  • We are going with DH on a short business trip not too far from here for a three days. The hotel we are staying at doesn't have a pnp. (Which is crazy but whatever). Any thoughts on what I should bring? I'm thinking about bringing our pnp but DH thinks that's too much. We'll be spending at least the morning in the hotel. I'm an over packer to begin with so naturally I want to pack up her whole life and bring it with us...

I could never get the hang of the snot sucker with my DD. Tried the saline and bulb syringe but I think I need to keep trying to perfect my technique. :)

Love the Nosefrida! But I have to suck so hard. I got a giant booger last night it was so satisfying!!

  • We are driving. Unfortunately as first time parents we picked out the travel system without thinking how it would go in the car so the stupid stroller takes up most of my trunk. (His is smaller) but I'm tempted to pack my little Prius to the gills and bring it.

@jellysparkles‌ that would've been perfect! Of course it's not available in stores by me or where we are going. Why didn't i think to ask you ladies earlier!?!?

My mom is only 41 so sometime when we're out if she's carrying DS people think he's hers and it irrationally bums me out.
    :-O   Dang I feel olllllld.
  • It broke my heart to watch B get a shot today. She screamed so much! We are spending the day snuggling on the sofa because I feel so bad.
  • So Andrew had to get blood taken today to test his thyroid. Receptionist said "it's a rare test for infants" ... Thanks- way to make this FTM feel worse. Only to have to hold him down while he was screaming and getting a whole vial taken from his tiny foot. He screamed, I cried. Oh! And I cut his pinkie in attempts of nail trimming. This poor kid. (Pic: Holding my moms hand before the needle).
Also showing a happy pic after breakfast :)

I decided to go downstairs and pump right after my shower, since C was still asleep. I didn't bother to get fully dressed, opting for just a short cotton bathrobe, a towel on my wet head, underwear and slippers. Midway through pumping, I heard him crying so I turned off the pump, ran upstairs and got him, and brought him downstairs to nurse while I finished pumping. I'm now stuck in the recliner half-dressed because C has passed out and is lying on my chest. Boobs are out, no pants on, hair still in a towel... Oh, I am so klassy...

We had a very similar incident over here yesterday...

  • Where is the May 14 story? Wait...maybe I shouldn't read it.

Also, I'm thinking about sending a gift to my 2 favorite OB nurses that helped with Truman while we were there. Other than a Starbucks gift card, can anyone think of something good to send? Just looking for some fresh ideas ;)
  • @rockstarlaw‌ I think an SB card is perfect! They also love snacks... So you can always send with a bag of trail mix, mixed nuts and granola bars! Or a box of donuts ;) cause who doesn't like that!

  • @dani+california‌ I had to go through and find my 22 highest paid weeks from the last year.... I'm a substitute teacher so my weekly income varies so much. I have no idea when I'm going to start to see some EI. We should start to get that 100 bucks a month from the federal gov for having a baby though!

  • Is anyone else finding it nearly impossible to leave the house? I have been trying to get out since Monday and have yet to succeed because I can't get LO off the boob long enough to get us ready. Now I know why they say it gets easier once you hit the six week mark- it's because week 5 is hell!

  • @cgoldian I'm only just now entering week four so I'm not quite sure of the hell you refer to yet but we've been able to go out. It IS hard though. I have to plan like crazy and have about 45 minutes to execute 90 minutes worth of errands...meaning I do a lot of short trips and/or nurse and change in the car (which has been really successful 1/3 times).

Had to do this for Alera the other day, and now we have to see a pediatric endocrinologist next week. =/ You're not alone! *huggle*

Having a big bbq this weekend and need some dead animal ideas! I dont usually serve meat, but people get disgruntled when they travel 45mi. for a Boca burger :/ Plain box burgers? Chicken burgers? Wings? WHAT DO PEOPLE WANT?

  • Just had a big cry on the phone with my mom. Her best friends adult son was killed two nights ago. She got on a plane immediately and went to be at her side and they are just having a really rough week. His little girl walked in the house with a picture of her daddy in heaven and it just broke my moms heart. I'm glad she's so young and doesn't really understand what's going on. It's just a shitty situation....

I am assuming you probably don't love handling meat--- so some easy ideas: chicken kebabs with veggies (season with salt, pepper, curry and garlic powder); or just burgers and hot dogs. I would pass on box burgers and just mix ground beef with salt, pepper, and minced garlic! Just got my food network magazine and am attaching pic of cheese sauce recipe to serve on either boca burgers or beef!
