  • This has probably been asked but: has/is anyone on the Mirena birth control? If so do you like it? If you chose not to use this, why?
We chose not to last time only because I knew we wanted 2 close together so it didn't make sense financially. I'm guessing that you might not be jumping back on the baby bandwagon quite as quickly :)
  • @KatieGummow‌ I had the mirena and really liked it. I didn't have the emotional side effects I do on the pill and I didn't get periods. I did get cramping every month but I've always had horrible period cramps. I'm getting another one put in on Monday.

  • I've had the worst cramping for the past 2 days and bright red blood started yesterday after 2 weeks of barely spotting. I have a call into my OB's office, but if this is my period starting, I'm seriously going to TP somebody.
  • @Katiegummow i had the mirena, but hated it. I'm one of those few people it bothered. I had several ovarian cysts with it in, and the last time one ruptured I had it out. It screwed up my periods. I was always super regular before I had that. However, it did work well as birth control. I didn't get pg with it. I think there are a lot more positive reviews than negative. I know a lot of women that love it.

Only took 13 days for DS to try and "help", and subsequently drop DD despite my yelling "NO!" Repeatedly as I ran around the couch to stop him. Thankfully she was in her bouncer and didn't fall very fall. Oy.
Oh no! This almost happened this weekend to us. DS went to DD in her rocker and started swinging her high and saying "WEEEEeee" in the moment it took for me to run over there going "nonoonono".

Ugly cried this morning. Aiden is obviously tired and any time he falls asleep it's barely 30 minutes before he wakes up again. He's miserable and exhausted, I'm miserable and exhausted. Sleep is the one thing I thought babies could handle, and my munchkin can't even get that down.

Sorry I'm such a downer lately. I'm so used to being able to solve problems and fix things and this is the first time I haven't been able to find a solution, and it's really making me feel like a bad mom.

Well, the car ride made him barf. But then he was quiet. Not asleep, but not crying. We are home with gripe water. Do you ladies give it before, after, or inbetween feedings?
I gave it before she ate on Sunday and Monday. By Monday night, she was finally feeling back to normal.

  • @Ashleypixie‌ the screaming and clawing at the boob was too much for me, too. His pediatrician gave me permission to just give in to formula feeding and comfort nurse when he wants, what a world of difference that made! Now if I can just figure out drying up what little my boobs were making.. I gave up on the pump and had to pull it back out to curb the leaking! I've gone from 8 regular pumping sessions a day to three (after three days of not pumping at all), and ending up with more milk. I thought it was supply and demand, these tits make no sense!

Watching 16 and Pregnant. It makes me feel like an awesome mom. Even as I sit here drinking, hoping DH gets home soon so I can have a break.
At least I can can do basic math.

One good reason to watch 16 and Pregnant, I always feel like a better Mom after :)

How sad is it that at least 2 that I've seen this season have teen moms who are more responsible than the grandmothers?
  • Ok, I'm done. I hate breast feeding. She can't latch and we both just get pissed off and I'm just tired of the screaming and clawing at my boobs. I couldn't do it with my first two, so it just doesn't even feel natural. And I feel so silly hooked up to a pump! I'm not a bad mom, I did try. She is just so much better with a bottle. Oh well.

I am still trying, pretty successful on the right boob, but trouble for days on the left. And now I have mastitis in the left. Definitely considered a bottle at 230am last night when I was bawling & cursing from pain.

I just did a double take because your baby looks a lot like mine in that picture haha. Love the rainbow chevron!!

  • FF (what day is it?) C - I've done a shit job of organizing DD1's clothes as she grows out of them; they've all been haphazardly tossed into diaper boxes and grocery bags for the past few years. Just tackled them and sorted by size into Ziploc space bags.

Holy fuck, girlfriend had enough size 24 month/2T to outfit a toddler classroom for a couple weeks. Granted, she stayed at that size for a year and needed all the seasons, but even at that it was a disproportionately huge pile; bigger than 3T and 4T put together.

ETA - saving socks was a lost cause.

We seriously have enough NB to 6mo for triplets. I tried to be organized with DS1s stuff, but didn't think about the fact he's always been at least a size bigger in tops than bottoms, so everything is mismatched. Hopefully DS2 will have the same sizing issue so I don't have to sort through everything.
  • I think DS1 might have gotten DS2s yeast infection. I'm exhausted. The babies are winning.

I can't make enough milk to go back to work and have this child survive...
There's nothing more attractive than a woman hooked up to breast pumps sitting cross legged on the floor ugly crying... Motherhood is glamorous B-)

Had yet another argument with DH this morning about him getting more sleep and me just barely hanging on. He wants to give dd a bottle tonight so I can sleep and "hopefully become a little more normal". I'm so torn. At what point does your mental sanity trump what you know is best for your baby?

Eta: It would have to be a formula bottle since I can't seem to pump squat. So I'm worried how that would effect my supply

Right?! The one from Monday night. Good grief, poor girl was so beyond embarrassed because of her Mother, sad that she was much more responsible.

A is wearing his first OS diaper today. The NB still for but are all in the wash. Time to prep the rest if the OS stash... He's growing so fast; slow down kid!
How big is he? Every CD I've tried on E, she's leaked through and one gave her a rash. Blah.

@JessieAlbin‌ Will you still comfort nurse once you milk is gone? I have been pumping but I do nurse once or twice a day when he gets extra fussy. Also, when I do he passes out and sleeps for a good stretch and that makes me happy. One of the biggest reason I haven't given up pumping is so I can still comfort nurse him.

I guess it depends on whether it works for exactly the purpose you mentioned; he hated the boobs when he was starving and couldn't get enough food out of them but as soon as we started supplementing, boob snacks will put him to contented sleep like nothing else. Or at least keep him content for a minute while we get a bottle ready for him. If he still gets any comfort out of nursing once the milk is gone, I will likely still do it for a while.

Eta: if he gets any comfort out of nursing AND it doesn't hurt or cause problems with my boobs.

So we met our BFFs baby that was born yesterday, he was born a week late at 5lbs 5 oz. :-/ poor guy. They are doing tests on placenta to see why... But he is so stinking cute!!! And makes me sad because my baby isn't that small anymore, he is 1 mo 1 day.

?? So today I took DS temp because he felt hot-rectal says no fever 99.3 and scond time is was closer to 97, but his head is very warm and he has been pretty fussy. He's only been in a thin onesie all day. We switched to powder formula Monday, could he just be adjusting or what does RTT think/would RTT do??

    Try armpit temp and compare

  • DS cried a cry I've never heard from him after his AM nap. I have no idea what his issue was but it was a horrific, panicked cry. I got him up as soon as he started waking up (I was in bed and we share a room), and it was during his diaper change that the screaming began. I knew he was hungry, but it had only been 2 1/2 hours. Couldn't find any source of pain. Nursing fine now.
Did your LO suddenly develop a new cry at some phase? Trying to keep up with what all of his sounds mean...

  • @pineconey‌ - DD is 6 1/2 weeks and just started having different cries last week. She has one that seems to be just to get my attention when she wants to snuggle, another one for when she is hungry, and one I think is an over tired cry.
  • I feel like a prisoner the past few days. DD is eating every hour-hour and a half during the day. Because I think she has reflux, I have to hold her upright for 30 mins after feeding which only leaves me 15-20 mins before she wakes up wanting to eat again. DH wants me to start pumping so he can give her a bottle, but I have absolutely zero opportunity to do so right now. And she was up cluster feeding until 3:30am last night while I was just sitting in the dark crying. I really hope her pedi prescribes us something for the reflux to give me longer stretches between feedings or I will never be able to leave the house again. //end whine

  • DS2 fits into some of our OS dipes - BG 4.0 and RaRs, but they are pretty wide in the crotch and bulky. Our NB are supposed to fit up to 16lbs, so I'll probably use those awhile longer. I think he's 10ish lbs now.
