Re: Breastfeeding. I am planning on giving it a go, but honestly, I won't be heartbroken if it doesn't work out. I work 4 10 hour shifts and get up at the ass crack of dawn as it is. I feel like if I didn't have to worry about pumping and baby was on formula, it would just make life so much easier. I can't imagine having to get up any earlier to feed baby or pump and get to work on time. (DH works from home so he's going to be in charge of getting baby to daycare/mornings, but I imagine I'll still have to pump in the AMs, right?). I have no idea if there is a nursing room at work, although there are some single person bathrooms that have chairs in them. I have no desire to pump where people shit.

If your company is over a certain size, they are legally required to provide an area for pumping. And that area cannot be a bathroom.
Not trying to sway you, just mentioning it for those that may feel like there's no place to pump at work.
I'll be honest, pumping sucks. It really sucks. Now some women can do it great, but for me it was just a pain in the ass. Which is why baby had to basically go everywhere with me. I was also at the time a sahm. Now, I'm either going to need to learn to love pumping or supplement with formula. Because with working and possibly going back to school boob goes with me.
I dread the pump.
I bf my youngest for 2 1/2 yrs and look forward to it again.
As for the breastfeeding, I am going to give it a whirl I think. DH thinks baby will mess up my perfect nipples.....lol. I told him I could look into exclusive pumping. Who knows though...I can see me doing some of each. I will have to pump once I go back to work anyways, so I think it would be a good idea for me to practice before then, and to build up a stash for DH and babysitters to feed baby with. I really don't know if BF'ing messes up your nipples though......I have yet to research that one.
Your nips will be just fine. Sometimes they crack/bleed when you're getting bf'ing established but they will eventually heal and be just as good as before. Also, I hate to break it to your DH, but those boobies aren't his anymore...!!!
this isn't uo related but now we're on the BF/pump topic and i have a question. i plan to breastfeed and i assume i'll pump when i go back to work for a while at least. i work in a regular office setting and i know we have a ''mothers room' which is right on the main hallway so that's not awkward or anything. my question is what do you do with the milk you pump? do you just put it in the communal fridge and hope no one drinks it? do you label it breast milk and freak people out? sorry if it's a stupid question i really am curious.

I may be totally pulling this out of my ass, but I think a lot of pumps come with coolers.
ETA: I will probably get a lunch box and just put it in there and put it in the breakroom fridge.

My Medela pump came with a little soft-sided cooler that can hold 4 bottles. I just stuck the cooler in the fridge.
1. I get that infertility is sad and frustrating but I get mad when some women can't be happy for me and even get mad at me for being pregnant and they act like there is a baby making competition going on. there isn't a limited supply of children waiting to be born and I'm not trying to steal your baby.

3. I like doing crafts with my daughter and by doing Pinterest projects with her I'm not trying to imply that I'm a better mother. My daughter and I just enjoy doing that activity together.
Basically, I don't like it when people take my "happy things" and turn those things around and make them about themselves. I'm sorry if my happy things are reminders of sad things for other people. I don't mean for them to be. I'm not trying to rub salt in anyone's wounds. I'm not happy to make anyone sad. I don't like it when people twist it into that.

Yup, that's the one I had. That ice pack that sits between the four bottles is an AMAZING ice pack. I use it for everything.

I put mine in our regular fridge in the little cooler that Medela supplied. No one had to know that's what was in it or see it.

I think pumping would be worse. You don't want to see what it does to your nipples. At least with nursing you can't see what's happening. Also pumping is annoying and more uncomfortable. (I BF 2 kids and pumped at work for a year with both).
Re: air conditioning. I don't hate air conditioning, it gets so humid here it's a necessity, but PLEASE don't turn it lower than 72. I hate being cold but every office, store, etc has to crank up the a/c way too much. I usually wear jeans/pants during the summer and carry a hoodie around with me unless I know I will be outside all day.
We could never live together. I keep it at 67 allllllll year long. I love the cold. Just call me Elsa.

I pray that I can nurse this LO. I exclusively pumped for 9 months with LO #1. I had a breast reduction when I was younger (they grew right back - I'm a DDD before pregnancy and an F during pregnancy) and they never figured out that LO had a bit of a tongue tie. He never could latch between my lack of sensitivity (no hard nips for the most part) and his tongue. I found a miracle worker who I will go see the moment I get out of the hospital with this one if they can't get this LO to latch. I didn't mind pumping, I just hated that I never got to nurse instead of pumping.

Speaking of Elsa, here's my UO: I don't get why everyone's so obsessed with Frozen. It's just another run of the mill Disney movie. People are like "omg it's the best animated movie ever".... ummmmm hello? Have you seen Despicable Me??? WTF!

I like Frozen because it gives some pretty positive messages about being different and that love doesn't have to be from a prince or a man, and that love can come from family and friends, as well.
My daughter LOVES Frozen. It's a cute movie, but I think I'm ready for the movie (and the soundtrack we listen to in the car every damn day) to accidentally get "lost."
One of the reasons I'm considering trying BF is because I heard it burns more calories. I know that's shallow, but I would be lying if I said that wasn't an attractive side effect.

The problem is that you are starving all the time. I ate so much food while BFing. It's nice to be able to eat as much as you want, but the weight doesn't just fall off.
We have not heard the heartbeat at the dr. office yet. We go on Monday. If we decide that its so awesome we need to have one, we'll order one then.
DH says he thinks its creepy though.....lol. He is an odd one.
My UO. I hate air conditioning. Mind you, this summer I may feel differently.....but I am a cold person and I don't mind sweating or being hot. Give me all the sunshine and all the
hotness !! Summertime, my car windows are down, not up with the AC on.
WHAT?!?? I would bold the air conditioning part but I'm mobile. I always say I would invent air conditioning if it hadn't already been invented!
I'm not fond of AC but I like the cold for sleeping. I would much rather have the window open to cool down the house. That said, I hate the 90+ degreee heat! It makes me melt and feel icky. If the weather could be 70s-80s during the day and 40s-50s at night year round, I would be a happy camper!

It really varies from person to person. I was one where the weight did fall off, too much even. I was eating 4,000+ calories a day (huge meals, lots of snacks, meal replacement shakes in between meals, etc.), and I got down to more than 10 pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm underweight to begin with, so I really didn't want to lose that weight, I was getting to "unhealthy skinny", my BMI got down to 15.7. I had a nice chubby baby, but I was skin & bones.

This. I was overweight before pregnancy, and weight did just fall off, but I watched what I ate and BF. I ate enough calories to cover my supply, but I ate well-lots of fruits, veggies and proteins, some carbs but not a lot. I started this pregnancy 40 lbs lighter than my last, because I BF and I ran after I lost about 25 lbs.
My UO is related to my May Siggy Choice. I Think David Boreanaz is sexiest as Seeley Booth! He was cute as Angel in Buffy, got kind of jowly as Angel in the self-titled TV show, but when he got in shape for Bones, ooohhhh yummy!

I lost all but 5 lbs while breastfeeding - as soon as I started exercising to lose that remaining 5 lbs my supply completely tanked! I made it 10 months though before we started to supplement.
My UO is i hate when people say or other people imply that since were pregnant "we're eating for 2!" We are suppose to have an additional 300 calories a day - that's it! Were not hainve 4000 calorie diets at this point! I know there will be times to splurge - i know i do it! But our goal is to maintain a healthy state for our unborn child - and when people say that i think it gives some people the wrong impression to eat everything!

My SIL has told me for years that pregnancy was not "good" to her body. I have heard from DH that she really liked deserts when she was pregnant. When she found out I was pregnant she was telling me how I "can eat whatever I want' and I "really should try the deserts" and when she was pregnant she went to an ice cream place at least once a day and sometimes twice for double scoops. lol I just sat there stunned thinking - oh, well, that's why you gained 75 lbs each pregnancy.
To give her credit though, she has lost every little ounce of any pregnancy weight. She may be more fit now than before she even got married 10 years ago.

Like others have said you can just use a little cooler. I had a Medela pump in style that came with a great one. Also, my last office put a tiny dorm size fridge in the mothers room for that purpose which was awesome. Maybe something to ask for?
Honestly, cleaning my pump in front of people or having my boss calling me and trying to get me to come to his office while I was pumping was way more akward than dealing with the milk. FYI he didn't know I was pumping but that is akward to explain.

My UO.. I despise baby clothes with cartoons, characters, sayings, cutesey animals/monkeys/elephants giraffes etc. ... 100% despise them. I'm Learning this is an expensive choice as it seems all/most clothes out here have some form of the above mentioned on them. I'm a very VERY simple gal in the way I dress but it seems my only out for my baby in terms of the above is dressing him in solids or baby gap/Gymboree/Carter's little man outfits Etc. -- which I'll splurge on any day before I give in to buying a monkey outfit.

For me it's the honey mustard. I actually hoard it. My DH will even bring me packs of it if he goes for lunch.

I totally agree. I am not into the cutsie sayings at all. It is especially hard to find baby boy stuff without cutsie things all over them. I did have some luck with striped and color block onsies and rompers at old navy for ds last sunmer.
I also do not allow my daughter to wear any advertisements like sponge bob or Disney etc... Clothing.
I'm okay with the frozen thing. It's a movie, catchy song etc. I 100% feel the same when it comes to the cartooned, Disney, Nickelodeon themed clothing/shoes. I refuse to put my girls in anything with characters. I don't know why I dislike it so much, I just do!
