Pardon my lack of knowledge but what does UO mean? Just so I know in the future. I did look at the abbreviation post prior to asking but it's not listed there
I don't get the obsession with Dopplers and hearing heartbeats. I didn't hear the heartbeat at my appt (he measures the waves or something visually?) and feel no need to do it recreationally.
If it's your thing that's cool but I really can't figure out what the big deal is.
Because it sucks balls going to your regular appointment and being told the heartbeat that you saw/heard last time is no longer beating. After a loss, a month in between visits is an eternity. Checking myself once a week or so helps keep me sane.

After a loss, that sound gives you hope. I don't try to find the heartbeat for recreational purposes, I need the reassurance I haven't lost another child.

Unpopular opinion but in my experience a lot of people post opinions that are actually common.

I've lost two babies and I don't get it either. I wouldn't want the stress of not being able to find it one day and feel like it would just make me question things and add stress that I don't need. I'm the type that likes to be blissfully unaware. But I'm also with an RE who would let me walk in any day of the week and do an u/s if I told him I was freaking and needed to make sure the baby was okay.
We have not heard the heartbeat at the dr. office yet. We go on Monday. If we decide that its so awesome we need to have one, we'll order one then.
DH says he thinks its creepy though.....lol. He is an odd one.
My UO. I hate air conditioning. Mind you, this summer I may feel differently.....but I am a cold person and I don't mind sweating or being hot. Give me all the sunshine and all the hotness !! Summertime, my car windows are down, not up with the AC on.

WHAT?!?? I would bold the air conditioning part but I'm mobile. I always say I would invent air conditioning if it hadn't already been invented!
I want a doppler, if only so my husband and his family can be part of it. His family lives in TX (we are in VA) and its his mom's first bio grandchild, so I would love for her to hear the HB. That, and hubby will miss a lot of appointments because of his job.
My UO is that the Navy has (at least around here) deplorable accountability when it comes to people's paychecks - people getting more than they should AND people not getting paid at all.
Edit: While this is fact, my UO is that the Navy's administration pretty much suck.
@runningmama14 Nah, no 110's here in PA where I am. Maybe 1 or 2 times per summer.....our issue here is the humidity. We'll have 90 some degrees with 90% humidity.....lol. Thats the closest I come to wanting to be in the AC.
My office room mates are teasing me that I actually won't be fighting them to turn the AC down this summer for the first time ever. lol
Give me a swimming pool or a nice shady tree. AC though....bleh!

My UO: I'm from Minnesota, the "state of hockey". While I may have been up late last night, it was not to watch the Wild win. Very UO this morning in MN.
@mander82 - We get the double whammy, triple degree days and 85%+ humidity for a good chunk of summer. Growing up, we didn't have ac, so I relish it on hot summer nights like that!

Where do you live? Sounds like our summers here in NC!
I live in Florida..all AC, all the time. Well, except like maybe 5 times a year when it goes to like 50's & you can open a window. These times are few & far between.
@missnacholover - Southern Kansas. So I get crappy weather and no close proximity to beaches. We had the AC on for a few days last week, then this crazy cold front came in and we turned it back to heat. DH actually considered lighting a fire the other night.
I'm in Texas and my AC has been on for a while now. If my office is under 75 I turn it back on.
My UO is that I have no desire to ever be a stay at home mom. I would let my husband stay at home before I did. I enjoy being out of the house and I am a huge fan of child care centers. We have several really great ones around here. I think socialization is important and having respect for all authority starts when kids are small.
I also have very little desire to breastfeed. I will be returning to work and even though my boss will let me do what I need to, I just really would rather skip the hassle. However, I will be giving it a shot and will try to breastfeed as long as possible just because that's what boobs are really for.
@krgriffin I agree on b/f and right now I'm leaning on not doing it at all. I don't want to pump when I go back to work- I know they'd let me- I just don't want to. And I don't want to be the only one who can feed my child- I want hubby to share in the opportunity and responsibility of that. Plus I'm modest and don't dig the idea of being at my in laws or a friends house and pulling my boob out to feed. I know I could just leave the room- but I'd rather just use formula. It will make momma happy and thus baby will be happier.
I do not like cats. I really don't like any animal. I will smile at them and casually pet them but no. I had a huge dog hump my leg when I was young and that traumatized me for life.
My #1 reason for BF is schilling out money on formula. I can't comprehend spending money on something my body makes for free.
This. Although I have no problem with those that can/will pay the money. Plus I work from home so it's much easier to pull out a boob than warm, mix and all that jazz.
I also got much more free with my boobs post baby. I mean I didn't whip it out in public but at the parents house, yup. Dad just left the room or looked at the tv. (Plus once baby is on, there isn't much to see.)

I like my dogs but I don't like other people's dogs.

MEEEEE TOOOOO!!!!! And I even have a fish! Are you SURE you aren't due on November 8th because we connect together so well!
@excitedpreggo12 -- I love an excuse for cake as much as the next person, but I can't imagine I'd be like "Let me buy a random stranger some baby stuff because I like parties & cake." Maybe I'm an unfriendly stranger
Here's my UO: I don't understand all the excitement about the TTGP board. Maybe I just haven't spent enough time there, but I don't see how it's 'above' any other board on TheBump, other than it's one of the more active boards.

No one says it's above any other board, it's just more active so more of us have come from there.
Re: air conditioning. I don't hate air conditioning, it gets so humid here it's a necessity, but PLEASE don't turn it lower than 72. I hate being cold but every office, store, etc has to crank up the a/c way too much. I usually wear jeans/pants during the summer and carry a hoodie around with me unless I know I will be outside all day.
I don't understand people that listen to their music with headphones while driving... Maybe I'm missing something but how do you hear what's going on around you?
As for the breastfeeding, I am going to give it a whirl I think. DH thinks baby will mess up my perfect nipples.....lol. I told him I could look into exclusive pumping. Who knows though...I can see me doing some of each. I will have to pump once I go back to work anyways, so I think it would be a good idea for me to practice before then, and to build up a stash for DH and babysitters to feed baby with. I really don't know if BF'ing messes up your nipples though......I have yet to research that one.

@Econosaurus - I have actually gotten into really heated arguments with navy wives over it, since they have never had issues. We haven't, but the chiefs and officers covered two guys' paychecks on DH's boat a while back because they weren't getting paid and were underway at the time. That, and no one on his boat ever seems to know what they're doing.
UO: I don't like wine (or most alcohol for that matter). I see a lot of posts on TB about home many KU women are desperately missing wine and I just roll my eyes.
