  • @LeaLupins‌ I don't know what typical protocol is, but when we bought our house we sent thank you notes but no gifts. Our realtor even gave us a gift as a thank you/housewarming. But ours didn't go above and beyond or anything. She just took us to a house we picked out and we chose it and bought it. It all went pretty smoothly which was fortunate for all involved. But no special action was taken on her part.

I think giving a gift would be appreciated by him/her though if you want to give one and feel he/she really deserves it. So do what makes you feel right about it.

Take a gander at the bumps on the women when you hit the jeans/capris on this page. I seriously LOL'd.

In some of the more sheer shirts you can straight up see the fake bump attached to them.. ahhh, low budget photography.

That's so funny. On the other hand, I love alot of these shirts. I'd definitely get a couple if they didn't take like a month to arrive!

Thank you! I think I will just do a thank you card and maybe a small gc if anything. I'm sure she appreciates her commission more than anything else, ha!

  • I totally hogged the Random Thread this morning. Here is something adorable to get back on track:

He looks like what I think Brom will look like since I have cray hair and his Daddy has jet black! EEE!
This makes me want a baby now!

Maybe you could present the issue as "I really appreciate that you want to buy things for Brom but can I ask you to check with me before making any more 'first' purchases because my family wants to buy him some things too." That way you aren't accusing her of doing it on purpose and you've laid down the law with her. Then if she does it again you have all rights to flip shit on her.
I agree with this.  You could also phrase it more along the lines of "check with me before making any more purchases because that item may have already been purchased for Brom."  That way it leaves out any mention of who is buying what, when they are buying it, and for what underlying reason (wants it to be the "first") they are buying it.  Just simply that you want to avoid duplicates of things.

  • I daydream so much every day about the way babies smell, how soft their hair is (if any) how their toes curl and their chubby legs kicks out, how they have no necks at first, how they'll be kinda cross eyed until they learn to focus, how their tiny lil' pink fingers wrap around your thumb....

I swear, it's a wonder I can drive anymore. I talk DH's ear off about every beautiful, amazeballs thing Brom is going to be like. Even him screaming his head off and turning red when he poops sounds adorable. I know, FTM, famous last words. But IDGAF. I've waited 9 years for this LittleDude and I'm going to squeal over every thing! I know y'all are with me on this :-D

So tell me, what scene do you replay in your head as you are falling asleep at night? I know I'm not alone in doing this!

I always imagine a tiny chubby little ball of squish with curly dark brown hair looking up and smiling at me with his little hat on! Just rocking him and looking at him with awe. It's the best!

I day dream about bigger babies. Who say hilaroous things and make me laugh and want me to teach them. Im not going to wish away tiny baby sweetness but the first time my toddler shows sass and personality is what im super psyched for. Love kids!!!!
This!  Don't get me wrong, DS was, and still is, an adorable baby, but he's gotten so much more cuddly lately and I'm loving it.  He'll actually sit with me for longer than 5 seconds and wants to lay with us in bed in the mornings now and just love on us and it's the best thing ever.  And his smile and laugh?  And really, you guys should see the way this kid grooves.  He loves to dance and it's about the best thing ever.
  • I had a total wave of the love fest yesterday after I had yo scold them for being difficult got the nurse to monitor.

I am in total love with them, and while I want them to cook longer, I am so excited for them to come out!

  • This is probably a really dumb question, but how in the heck do they determine which position my LO is in if they aren't planning on anymore ultrasounds?

He feels breech to me, due to the tickles and kicks I feel but I am not a good judge of position. I know there is time yet before he'll settle in but with considering a C section and all of that, how do they tell?
I asked my OB the same thing and basically it comes down to training according to her. She can just feel around and know since this is what she does for a living. She was like "oh yeah, here's the feet, here's the head, etc" at my last appointment.

And when you go into labor and start dilating, the nurses will be able to feel if there's a head, a butt or something else coming first.

This. Plus, if they can't figure it out they will do an ultrasound!

  • I asked my doc the same thing, @literachick ! In my practice, they do more U/S later on...I'll have one at 32 weeks, and again at 36 or so. He also said what PP mentioned, that they "just know", and can tell where things are just by feel. They kind of have a cool job :)

Incidentally, I have convinced myself that she turned around today. My belly button area is SO painful, and now all the pokes and movement are way up higher. I know she'll still move around till she moves out, but at least she's trying out the right position (or so I tell myself).

This is a legit questuion. I didn't have an u/s after the a/s for DS and got to the hospital in labor only to find out he was breech. My midwife actually asked me who checked me last (you see different drs and MWs at your appointments because you don't know who will end up being on call when it's go time). Um, she was the last one to check me the week before...I will definitely be over doing it in the "are you sure LO isn't breech?" questions in the last couple of weeks.

  • I have a similar photo from my first full day at home with DS and it is absolutely one of my favorites!
