I sometimes pee in pools, lakes, or the ocean. (*cue evil laughter)
But especially in the shower (gasp)

Edited to add lakes, ocean, and shower.
Edited again to say that I had edited.

Completely agree. Between here and BNB, I'm around too much. Parenting looks like a blast but I don't have the extra time in my day without sacrificing my job.

  • I'm having petty, jealous thoughts over my friend's very recent engagement.  She's been like a sister to me for the past decade and she is C's dearest friend.  But on the other side of the coin, she's really close to this rabid bitch I have incredibly high animosity towards for a wide variety of reasons.

When I squeed "Who's the maid of honor????" she avoided answering the question so now I'm worried C and I will be bridesmaids and this crazy witch will be the MOH.  I want C to be the MOH.

We've been fantasizing about the fun events we'd hold for our friend for ages.  But that may never come to fruition because we'll have to defer to Crazy Witch.  And now I have a case of the sads.

To make it even crazier, her fiancé might spirit her away somewhere far like Montana or Wyoming depending on where his job takes him and we'll only have her for a few more months.

    :((
  • This is a super lame one. I pick up contract work English editing scientific papers of mainly ESL scientists who submit to American journals (so that their poor grammar doesn't affect the acceptance of their work). Confession: I SUCK at grammar. I have always done poorly in English/grammar - so I always feel like I'm cheating somehow, since I can barely write English correctly myself. Like, the scientists who are paying for editing deserve better or something. (I am totally going over this statement to make sure it's grammatically correct, which it probably isn't - because I suck at grammar and can't tell!!!)

(I have editors over me that check my work and I had to do a 'test' before hired. So, they must think I do a decent enough job - not well enough to get the bonus for >80% corrections though :( )

This. Also. Urine is sterile. I don't get why people freak out. I cannot justify wasting 1.6 gallons of water just to pee when lack of access to clean water kills children at a rate equal to a 747 jet crashing every 4 hours....
    --------end quote--------

I think it is just because my parents freaked the fuck out if I peed in the water anywhere and told me how disgusting that was.

Plus a swim club my daycare went to had water that changed color to bright blue when urine hit it...guess it scarred me.

  • I refuse to swim in lakes or ponds. The amount of dead people pulled out of them each year is enough to terrify me. I had a friend die trying to swim between two Islands in a lake. They never found his body. That solidified my decision.
I'll swim in the ocean though.

I don't pee in pools but I will in the ocean. Usually because I'm surfing and there are no bathrooms close by.

Christmas tree is still up.  It's been so cold, it hasn't bothered me.  Now that it's warming up, I think it's time to get it down.

Maybe this weekend....  I think June is the latest my family ever left the tree up.  I'll try not to break the family record.
I secretly wish my tree was still up. I'd love to decorate it for Easter, 4th of July, etc. Sadly we had a real tree this past Christmas so it had to go by Jan 10th. The year before, our great Dane thought it would be funny to pee on our tree on Christmas morning. He never did such a thing before and this was just shocking to us. That tree was thrown out that afternoon. Boo.

My FFFC: My brothers wife and I have a deal that we will be pregnant together and have due dates a month or so apart. I know that it could happen but her cycles are so wonky (she has told me) that it might not. Anyhow, I think she is pregnant now because her and my brother have changed some things that have thrown some clues that they are (they did the same when she was pregnant with my nephew) and I'm secretly hoping that this cycle will be our cycle. Ahh.

Don't swim in lakes! Fish pee there! And ducks poop there.

    Nasty animals.

Don't swim in the ocean, it's full of shark jizz!!! Known fact: Swimming in the ocean will get you KTFU with some inter-species shit.
    Duh. Mermaids!
Would it be easier to birth a mermaid than a human? Hmmm.

AFM, I am mildly obsessed with following the lives of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. I know not everyone likes her, but I think she is just beautiful and has great style, and they seem to really have a good and stable relationship. They are certainly better role models than 90% of celebrities and politicians from the US.
I'm just puking over this whole thing.

Role models?  She never held a real job (Jigsaw for six months and working for her parents don't count) and her only claim to fame now is pretty hair plus a nice wardrobe.  Oh, and her husband!!  Yes, please, daughter - grow up to be that.

EDIT: Sorry - I just loathe the blind love people have for her.  She needs to DO something before I'll respect her for the role she's in.  I believe she has the potential, but she better do something soon other than run around in pretty clothes with perfect hair.  The media talks about her shoes!  Ugh.  So shallow when there are real women out there doing awesome awesome things with their brains.
I don't disagree with you, but I would like to point out that she is now a mother and does a lot of charity work (and even a little diplomacy).  Do I think "princess" is a job to aspire to - No.  But I also think there are worse people to admire.  It isn't her choice that the media would rather focus on what she wore to a charity gala than the fact that she's the patron of the foundation focusing on support for British armed forces, young people, and conservation.
I agree with this- I know there are plenty of women out there who are doing wonderful, intelligent things and they are great role models too who don't get the same media treatment as celebrities. As far as how to conduct yourself in public, I think Kate does an excellent job and she has a lot more duties that I'm unaware of, I'm sure. In every public appearance she makes, whether it's charity or not, she carries herself in a gracious, friendly, classy manner. I admire that.

  • Alrighty, this is a doosy *gets on flame retardant suit*

My father in law is in bad health, and part of me is relieved to see him decline. I know it's horrible to say, but he's an awful awful human being, and has done nothing but make his family miserable.

I know my DH will be devistated, and I don't want to see him hurt, but FIL just being gone will save me a lot of fights with him and his family over the access FIL has to our future children. I'll be damned if my kids learn to verbally abuse family members for funsies.

Also, I won't have to listen to him telling groups of people how fat and barren his own daughter is. That will be nice.
