Re: The Randomest Thread

  • So. We've acquired a drunk.

Backstory: the house across the street was recently renovated, its a beautiful old colonial and the builders converted it into apartments but tried to keep the character intact. So naturally my parents are curious about how it turned out, so my dad and aunt introduced themselves when they saw the new tenant outside today.

I guess when they got inside she immediatelt told them how trashed she was because "I'm depressed, its Easter." Then she started "falling over" into my dad, grabbing his crotch and trying to get him to touch her chest.

She followed them across the street and plopped herself on my front porch where the rest of my family was hanging out. She's talking SO LOUD and keeps saying pretty inappropriate things to everyone (which, whatever my family is pretty inappropriate but who talks like that in front of strangers??). They keep hinting at her to leave and my dad keeps trying to walk her home but she's not getting the message.

She's just lucky she hasn't woken my kid up or I'd throw her ass across the street myself.

  • This weekend was so stressful with all the family all over Olivia. We had my sister's baby shower yesterday and Easter celebrations at our house with both sets of grandparents today. Everyone kept passing her around and it just annoyed me.

To top it off, my sister just called me to tell me that my mom called her to say that O "had a rough day today." I am irrationally angry about this. Perhaps if everyone just let the kid be for two seconds she would have been happy.

I don't think I've ever been so glad to have a weekend be over.

I usually love hanging out with my family but I reached my limit today. If my grandma tries to tell me one more time how I should be taking care of my daughter I'm going to flip.

"Why are you letting her sleep so much during the day?"

"Is she asleep? Why don't you put her in her crib? She needs to be napping in her crib, not on you. She's going to grow up and be too needy"

"You're giving her medicine? Why are you giving her medicine?"

"You let her nurse too often. She's going to gain too much weight".

Right now I have a colicky 8 week old that needs to be held during the day. She's sleeping just fine at night in her bassinet, and for the past three days she has taken ZERO naps, so if she wants to take two naps in the four hours you've seen her today so be it. No, I'm not going to let her cry in her crib. She's fucking EIGHT WEEKS OLD.

I didn't even touch the weight comment. I just left the room.

@FarmBoysWife‌ good for you!! Guise. I had a breast pad malfunction while nursing. image
This happens to me all the time. Unless I'm leaving the house I've just given up on them since I'm already doing at least one load of laundry every day. They never stay in place, adhesive or no.

  • Breaking news!

DH came home, told Me mil and FIL got a hotel cause my Mom has a lot of animals and they wanted a night to just watch tv/relax and sleep in peace. They came back here after wandering around grabbed all their stuff and left with no word to any of us.

WELL. My brother just came home and said that they never told my mom or Karen. Never said a word.

That's real freaking nice of them. Great way of showing their appreciation for the free stay.
    Seconded this.
    Real mature of them.

  • @FarmBoysWife I'd have slapped her silly by now with any baby talk after having been warned. My MIL knows it pisses me off, and has learned not to do it. Glad your Ass-In-Laws find their hotel room comfortable enough to have those bugs crawl out their asses. ::creepy internet stranger hugs::

@bunnyfungo I think they'd understand you taking even a half day for your brand spankin' new baby, right? It sucks, but I'm sure you'll feel better being with your LO when she doesn't feel good. Sending good vibes your way for her swift return to bouncing kiddo happiness.

I think my Mia has been having her first nightmares the last couple of days. :( She'll be sleeping soundly, and all of a sudden she'll start whining, and her little face crumples in the most heartbreaking way, and she wakes up crying! She calms down a few seconds later once she realizes she's awake and Mommy is holding her, but OMG it makes me want to cry right along with her!

    Oops, Hit post to quickly.

DD is sleeping so quietly since her feed at 1 am I'm guilty of poking her ... two separate times... to make sure she was breathing. I'm slowly going crazy. Must. Sleep. Anyway.

Mia was has been sleeping since about 10. Normally she wakes up to eat and to be changed at about 1am. She didn't, and I got paranoid enough to wake her up for a diaper change, and bugged her until she was ready to eat. You're not alone, m'dear.

I'm about to pump and pray that she stays asleep until a reasonable hour of the morning. .___. Wish me luck.

  • @amdecker1016‌ DH manages a restaurant so it would be much harder for him to get off. He'd basically have to convince someone to switch shifts. We're hoping that he can get someone to cover half and then we would both only have to take a half day. It's just a pain. And I feel like a jerk asking for time off when I just got back from mat leave.

Don't feel like a jerk at all. I'm sure they would understand.

My Emma is the same. I can get one out if her every now and them but she smiles so consistently for him. I melt, but am also a little jealous.

  • I noticed yesterday lo's forehead looked yellowish, then today I mentioned to my mom her forehead dry skin seems weird. we are headed home now, she went to say goodbye and said she looks very yellow in the natural lights. I thought she changed colors but was thinking maybe I was new mom crazy and paranoid.

Called the doctor already going in tomorrow at 8:30.

Has anyone experienced an older baby having jaundice? She will be 6 weeks on wed. When I called the lady at the pedi said usually that would go away in the first few weeks and well lo never had it then.

Is she having plenty of dirty diapers? We dealt with jaundice early on. Hope everything is ok!

  • @wisconsincheese12 is it just the dry skin or is it her actual forehead? Could it be cradle cap? I think J is starting to get cradle cap; the top of his head down to his forehead looks kind of yellowish where the patches of drier skin are.

I thought that on her forehead that's why I didn't say anything at first, then my mom said she looked yellow. Then I got actually worried about it. She only has the yellow dry looking stuff right around her eye brows.

    I hope it's just nothing/normal.
Do the whites of her eyes look yellow?

  • B fell asleep in her swing an hour ago. I feel like a bad mom letting her sleep in it, but I'm sitting right next to her in the couch reading a book, and this is the first real nap she's taken in days.

  • @AriaAmante143‌ Don't feel bad! Sophie just woke up from a nap in her swing. It's not like you're using it as a babysitter. Sometimes it's the only place my fussy girl will sleep. I think the motion helps relieve some of her gas also.

I think you're right about the gas. She cried for a few minutes when I first put her in (I was starving and I can't hold her and eat at the same time), but she finally calmed down and went to sleep. Plus a break from holding her 24/7 is good for me too :)

I love the wunanub. But my MIL gave her a NUK on Saturday and now she only wants that one.
