Love looking at everyone's nursery progress!! This is DS #1's nursery from 2 yrs ago. Will not be doing DS #2's nursery until after he's here due to remodeling, which I am bummed about-all well he'll be in the co-sleeper for a while anyway:)
BFP #1 May 2010! mc @11weeks blighted ovum, natural mc.
BFP #2 Sept 2010! mc @9 weeks, natural mc.
Diagnosed with Prothrombin Gene Mutation or Factor II (hetro)-baby asprin while ttc,
Found out the hard way that I am deathly allergic to aspirin- OB put me on Heparin injections.
BFP #3 July 2011 with DS (whom was diagnosed with bilateral trans-radial limb deficiency at 20 week A/S-with no answers why) born 4-12-12.
I had been holding off showing any nursery stuff hoping that maybe it would motivate me to get it done so I can have a complete picture...no dice. But I did snap this cute photo today of my littles watching a movie in the nursery (the t.v. was just in their temporarily with DD's old nightstand...both of these things will be moved out). I bought the rug and the new chair cover for this nursery, but the paint color is the same as it was for my other two. Not really doing bedding; my SIL is making crib skirts that are pink and green. I still have to buy a second crib (we have this one so far), finish painting the dresser (it is pink like the rug), and add a bunch of little decorative touches. Slowly but surely!!

@madelinechild That is pretty much what I had planned if we had a girl. I love it!
I guess I will update, though I don't have pictures. We have finished the painting. Thought we were going to do a stripe but decided against it. The crib is sanded and will be painted this weekend. We are searching for a dresser. I really do not want to spend 400+ on one so I was hoping to find a used one we could refinish but I am not having any luck. We may have to break down and buy a new one. I just can't wait to get it all set up!
@calidreamin3 I got the fitted sheet from target, but I found a DIY crib skirt on Pinterest and made that along with the blanket. It was a total pain in the butt, but it saved me 200 dollars.
So far we just have the rug, crib and dresser. We are waiting until the glider comes to decide on placement and put up decorations, but I finally feel like we are making progress.
@JESNYC I think we may have the same crib but my internal bars are white though (grey trim.) I don't have anything yet because it's all on my registries (and when/if no one buys something we can use the completion discount.) I like your dresser too but I don't think we'll have the right layout/space for one yet.
So I finally have something to share! We got our crib put together on Saturday and I got the bookshelf and desk/changing table painted on Sunday. The bookshelf is a dark red and the changing table is light/teal blue. I'm also going to add yellow, green, dark blue, and light blue polka dots to the bookshelf to match the bedding. I'll take a picture once we get them put back in the nursery. My parents bought us our bedding (and I am thankful!!!), but my mother is being stubborn and won't let me have any of it to set up yet until my shower in late April. I can't wait to get it all in there so that it all starts coming together more!
OKAY, we are still cleaning out the room and deciding what get's stored in the apartment (minimal space), in storage (if you live in NYC, try this: https://makespace.com/invite/4sc/) and what get's tossed or donated (nearly all of our possessions, blah blah blah apartment living, sigh.)
BUT -- I think I have finally finished putting together the things I want. We don't have a lot of wall space (one wall is bookshelves we're not getting rid of, another wall is all closets, another has two windows...) so I have to be creative with how many art prints I buy and their placement so it's not too cluttered, but this is what I'm hoping to make happen:
Would love to read your thoughts, bumpies. Hope you like it.
@ugabamafans Thank you! That is my plan too. Most of the furniture is on the registries (I'm all about the completion discounts) so it's gonna be challenging to wait but I can get the rug/curtains/closet space going. Someone already bought and sent the crib bedding and I own the lamp already. I'm definitely fine with "less is more" in a small space, but it sure is hard to narrow down!
We finally started working on the room over the weekend! DH spent all day Saturday painting the yellow room a pretty light blue. I also put together the toy cubby bin (which is now already full of hand me down toys from my sister). Here are a few pics:
I'm lovin this post! We are currently waiting to find a armoire/dresser for our little munchkin's clothes... We thankfully have all the painting done and now its just finishing handmade burp cloths, handmade boppy covers, and a few crib sheets! I would like to add tissue paper pom poms over the crib yet and when the little one arrives I want to add more photos and the name to the photo picture frame I made for it! Also we plan to have him/her sleep in our room for the first few months since the nursery is not attached to the bedroom so my amazing dad found this super cute antique cradle we plan to have right next to our bedside! I know I'm not totally ready yet but would June just hurry up and get here?!
Keep up the amazing work guys! Love all your photos and inspiration!!
-Blessings to you and your little munchkin...
I am so torn whether to leave the carpet in the nursery or to tear it out and refinish the wood. I live in an old house so all the original floors are wood. What did you ladies do and why? The carpet is in very good shape.
@MrsRahl I like the idea of having the hardwoods, but have to agree with those who said it sounds like a big project that may be more trouble than it's worth. If the carpets are still in good shape and it's more of a "nice to have" than a "need" you can always do it later.
FWIW we replaced the carpets in our LO's room (and the other 2 bedrooms, upstairs hallway and stairs) back in Feb. But we did it 1) earlier so we would have time to do all the "after" stuff ourselves - painting, decorating, etc. and 2) because the original carpets were in horrible shape and ugly as all hell. We did not have hardwoods underneath, though, so we simply replaced with fresh carpets - I'm guessing that is a LOT less of a job than what you are planning.

Like PPs have said, it's a big project to refinish the wood. Do you know what kind of shape are they in? Could you live with them as they are for a little while? Depending on the shape they're in, you would need to sand them thoroughly to get all of any previous finish of them, wash them thoroughly to get rid of any dust, stain them, and seal them. Are you prepared to do that in the two months before baby arrives? Would you hire the project out or would this be a DIY project?
I love hardwood. If you feel like you could handle the mess for a while, and make sure that, once you start the project, you get it done before baby, I say go for it. You probably don't want baby sleeping in the room while staining and sealing. But if you're not confident you could get it done, euh... maybe not.

I'm probably not the best person to ask as I was too lazy to even want to paint the nursery and chose DS's bedding on what would match our already taupe walls . Anyways, I personally would not want to tackle such a project during my pregnancy. I would keep the carpet.
We ripped out old gross carpet and refinished the wood floors. My husband did the work himself. Although it turned our beautifully it took a long time and the dust, and fumes from the stain and poly are things a pregnant lady shouldn't be breathing.
@mrsrahl, we have carpeting in the bedrooms and living areas now and I'm really tempted to get rid of it. Between the explosive BM's and puking that DS1 had (and it wasn't even really that bad), I'm scared of what the carpet will be like once DS2 grows out of those stages. Sure we could always rip it up then, but it could be pretty ratty looking until that happens.
If you think you can get it done quickly, I'd say go for it.
Got a rug for the nursery finally! Also hung some curtains :-)
Also finished a puff quilt for my little man :-)
ETA: since I put the rug down a few days ago, I think Camille (cat in the picture) thinks it's her rug. She spends most of her day rolling around on it and sleeping on it now. Silly girl...
