  • I want a healthy snack but didn't go grocery shopping so I'm SOL. Trying not to get into the jar of candy on my counter.

  • Just joining in b/c I'm having a pity-party for one. Instead of saying "hey... can we watch something else, or do something else b/c DH you are the best part of this day, and I really want to spend time with you," it came out as "meh....AHHHH YOUR SHOWS ARE DUMB, AND I HATE THEM, AND WHY DO WE ALWAYS WATCH STUPID TRUE TV SHOWS!" and other fighty words. Suprisingly, the mood was killed, and he's going to bed early, and I feel like a dumb hormonal lonely mess.

  • @letsgobowlingx, awwww, dad. Things like that sometimes make me wish our family weren't all in other states. But then I remember everything about our families.

  • @yellowbird219, do you have access to any counseling or therapy? I'm in a stable place, but I've kept a monthly appt. to work through all the things that pregnancy brings up. I also have anxiety and tend to imagine those worst-case-scenarios. It's a normal thing for folks who have experienced trauma: your brain looks at what it's been through and says, "How can I rehearse and prepare for the future?" But if it happens often for you, isn't something you can reroute, and has negative consequences, it's probably worth attending to.

A lot of what you describe is wrapped up in fear and a need to control in order to feel safe. I have really similar feelings. Acknowledging them is great, and it can help you feel to observe rather than participate when it happens.

DH and I are both kind of shocked we didn't get thrown out of our first childbirth class (although, we wouldn't have been the only candidates for removal...)

Sometimes, I think there is something wrong with both of us. But it's also pretty clear we were made for each other.
    Go on... >:]

There are two, five foot tall, pallets of girl scout cookies at my work. All different types. We're not allowed to open them. It's killing me to look at. Who's going to miss one box?
    I'll be there in 5 minutes with a U-haul.

Ss: My husband talks to everyone about this pregnancy. He's so proud. It's adorable. He apparently has a conversation about placentas today.
    I love your husband!

  • I'm in love with this new L&D book that was recently recommended to me - "Natural Hospital Birth" by Cynthia Gabriel. A must for any of you who (like me) are hoping for a natural birth but in a hospital. So informative!

  • @‌joules235 - no worries gal. It wasn't really baby related and was 9pm by the time they put me in a room so I wasn't going to bother you with it.

  • oh god only 62 more days of work left to go...... I am so over this place and cannot wait for the summer and the year off with my kiddos.

Also I have my GD test tomorrow and am feeling a bit nervous about it..... I really don't want to have to so the crazy three hour one like I had to when I was prego with DS. Cross your fingers bump buddies for a pass!

I keep seeing people pinning all these "20 things to do before baby" lists that are meant to capitalize on the remaining time as a couple (go to the movies, etc.), but all I can think about is all the stuff I want to do after the baby comes -- not because I'm excited about the kid, but because I'm excited to get it out of my body.

    Things I'm looking forward to:

    • sleeping on my stomach
    • sleeping in any position I want
    • burning this pregnancy pillow like a ritual sacrifice
    • wearing non-maternity clothes again
    • not having my vagina kicked
    • BOOZE
    • taking medicine if I need it
    • bending over
    • seeing my crotch
    • hugging my husband without a belly between us
    • breathing fully
    • smoked salmon, sushi, and the rich, raw cheeses from the European deli
    • more coffee
    • moving around more, and more easily
    • being detached from this moving organism and leaving it with my husband
I'm also excited about the overwhelming love and bonding and all. But also, BENDING AT THE WAIST!
When I was setting up the nursery I was struggling with trying to find a place for this one item. It was pissing me off. Then I suddenly realized, "hey, I wont be pregnant anymore! Having to bend a little to get the item wont actually be a big deal anymore!"

I'm stil trying to figure out how I'm going to work out my best friends bachelorette party and wedding in August. I am prolly going to wait to drink any alcohol until the Bach party so it should be real interesting!!

I didnt realize quite how much I have adapted my life for pregnancy.

Also how is booze so low on your list? Booze alone would make all of those things manageable!

@elsa1688 - I think it will be in the long run, but we knew that it would likely be hard for us to be serious. I think it'll be the same for the delivery itself. Really, the class is more for DH than it is for me.

I think it will be the same thing for my DF. He has a hard time taking anything seriously. Should be entertaining :)

Edit--moving this to the newbie questions thread--more relevant there.

  • @jaybee11 We had a neighbor feed and let ours out the morning I was still in labor and then early evenings after DD was born. DH went home both nights to care for him overnight. We were only 15 min from the hospital and we wanted DH to get a good night's sleep so I could rest during the day. It was just a bonus he could put the dog to bed and feed him in the morning.
  • @LilNunz1 I was too slow on the draw for you!  :)  I don't anticipate having any problem with DH heading home to rest and take care of things, but I have no idea whether he's going to want to leave.  I'm not a fan of hanging out at hospitals, but he may feel differently leaving his three girls there...just trying to plan ahead.  Thanks!

  • @jaybee11 Personal preference, really! I'm not sure how we would have made it if neither of us had gotten any rest. This time we will be doing the same thing since we have DD in addition to the dog.

Not sure if I've mentioned this here, but the floor beneath our toilet is failing and we'll need to replace it this weekend. I'm not sure what I am going to do all day as we only have the one bathroom/toilet and it will be out of commission all day. I'm really hoping we can do this whole fix for less than $200 as we had a $700 electric bill (for two months, normally it's a lot less than this).

. That's tough... Obviously, shower the night before... As for the actual bathroom... Any friends/family around? Good friends with any of the neighbors? Otherwise... Closest coffee shop or gas station?

  • I failed the one hour GD test. I'm really bummed. They wanted 129 or lower and I got a 134. Yay for the 3 hour :/

Not really. My parents are coming down to help (meaning my dad will help DH) so hopefully it'll take much less time than it would if DH and I did it ourselves. My mom and I will probably spend part of the day out and about, but sometimes things go really wrong.

Being a homeowner is sooo much fun.

I feel you. I hope it goes ok. Otherwise, I don't know what I'd do overnight other than stay with family or worse, get a hotel.

  • Damn it!! I just went grocery shopping and my pizza sauce jar fell out of the bag and broke all over the kitchen floor. I tried to clean it up as best I could but I can't bend over that long, so now I'm waiting for H to get home so he can clean the rest.

@ohyealovely‌ That was my exact number with DD and I passed the 3 hour by a huge margin.

Even after the 1hr results came back, the nurse flat out told me she thought there was no way I would fail the 3 hour after a 134 on the one hour (with no other signs of GD).

Hope this is the case for you! I take my 1 hr tomorrow. Blah.
That's good to hear. With my daughter I tested much lower. Like a 97 the first time and a 110 the second time. I wasn't even concerned about taking the test today and then I see the results. If I was going to fail couldn't I have at least really failed?! I mean, not that I want GD but come on!

I hope your test goes well tomorrow!
  • @wtfisup‌ - my doctor told me I could eat smoked salmon! I thought it was really weird when my pregnant friend was eating it but she said her doctor gave her the OK and another doctor she worked with ate it while pregnant. I just figured I wouldn't chance it but REALLY wanted it one day so checked with my doctor and she said it was fine. It was glorious!
