Random question- one of H's cousins had a baby a few months earlier than us, and she just sent us a little box of clothes her baby grew out of. We aren't really close to this cousin, and rarely see her (and she's not our favorite person in the world.) Should I send a thank you note? I would just send an email, but our relationship is such that I don't even have that! It just seems kind of weird to send a TY, "thanks for the unsolicited used items..." But I do want to acknowledge that we got it, and are grateful? (But none of the stuff is things we really need at this point.)
@lalaith50, I'd send a note just because she IS a more distant connection. I am more casual about people really close to me.
ETA: I don't think it matters used or not. We've received lots and lots of used things and I've written notes for all of them (except the one person who, while writing this, I realized I forgot! Eek! Well, NOW I will....)
Ugh Jackson must be the most efficient breastfeeder ever. Or something is wrong. He only eats for maybe 6 minutes and only on one side so I'm worried he isn't getting enough, but the past day or so he's spit up after several feedings. I try to burp him for ~5 minutes after he's done and a couple different times in the middle especially if I hear him gulping air.
We are practically living in L&D triage with all of the tests. No induction as of yet, the doctor is going to try and rotate LO since he is sunny side up and seeming to be holding up progress! I have the first LO who migrates north for his due date
Alright, this is really stupid, so I wanted to ask you guys before I mention it to my doc in about an hour from now. When I'm sleeping on my side, my legs go numb. It takes at least five to ten minutes of sitting up in bed to get some feeling back in them. I would sleep on my back to cancel that out, but when I'm reclined even slightly more than 45* (sometimes less than that) I'm almost instantaneously out of breath, and have almost passed out a couple times. I know I'm close to the end and it could totally be normal, but I'm still just worried enough to bring it up. Something to mention to the doc, or am I an overthinking FTM here?
It's great when J goes 3 hours between feeds. But when he wakes up he is disproportionately hungry. Normally he fusses, but after 3 hours he goes straight to screaming. And when I first laid him on the boppy to get him in position, he didn't wait for me, he scooted himself to the boob. Crazy baby.
I really feel like I've missed a lot since my twins arrived! I'm just getting back into bumping Adding to the randomness, my pp bf boobs are crazy! I've always been small chested, and DH is loving my porn star boobs. Poor guy is going to have a hard time making it to 6 weeks pp. If I hadn't had a vaginal and a c-section, I'd probably give in sooner
I keep reading all of the birth stories and I am amazed at how everyone knows all the little details. For example...At such and such a time I was X dialated with CX lasting Y and every Z minutes....then at exactly AB:CD I went in to....
Are these just guesses or do you ladies actually remember what time everything happened?
I understand that afterward they will give me a actual time of birth, weight and length but I am amazed at the detail level to the birth stories.
I feel like this will be my first mom mistake, I won't remember any of the small details.
@WoodShopGirl I remembered approximate times. Not as detailed as some, but I suppose mine were educated guesses. I don't think it REALLY matters, though
@WoodShopGirl i had my phone notepad and wrote things down like what time they broke my water when i got an epi. When things started to intensify my mom took over so i would remember everything.
And then my sister was taking photos and took picture of the clock like when they brought me to the OR or when other things happened.
1) I think Jackson was trying to comfort nurse and got a second letdown lol he wasn't happy
2) I just had to reschedule his 2 month appointment because I'll be back to work and can't stand the thought of being away from him after he gets his shots. STMs how long are they miserable after shots? I'm off the day of and having his appointment in the morning but have to work the next day at 8am
@bunnyfungo, toddler plus newborn is hard no matter how many of them you have. I'm lucky because at least one of the twins is pretty relaxed. I also taught DS1 how to help give them pacifiers so that really helps sometimes too.
@mrsdahamm, DS1 never had an issue with his shots. Sometimes they will be a little more sleepy. Of course every kid is different. You can ask your doctor about giving them Tylenol before or after, but I don't think we ever did. Best thing we did was to nurse immediately following the shots and he barely cried.
I had it confirmed today by a LC that Owen has a tongue-tie, which I suspected. That explains why his sister is a full 18 oz bigger than he is! He only took in 0.7 oz during a weighed feed. Looks like I'm going to be pumping to supplement him until we can get it clipped. Maybe now he will go more than 2 hours between feedings.

Weird question... has anyone else's appetite tanked after giving birth? I feel like I have to force myself to eat.
RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
Me: 28 DH: 27

So frustrating.

My eyes are brown. h's are hazel with like a blue green tone. My dad has blue eyes so she won the eye color lottery haha. It could go any way!
