Is anyone doing a name vinyl decal instead of wooden letters?
With my sons room I did the wooden letters which was a pain trying to get to hang straight but then I did some vinyl sayings that I cut out with my cricut and I used painters tape to make the straight line and I think that was much easier then wood letters
I'm so close to finishing the bedding, just need to put a couple more ties on the bumper. I also picked out the paint colors today but I'm waiting for it to go on sale. And her poor room has become extra toy storage for my son but it's all starting to come together.
Question about us going with this decal. Would you have the initial be the initial of the first or last name? I'm thinking about going with the last name but I've seen it both ways. Here are examples of one using the initial of the last name.
@Fsumom Thanks! I love it too its the BEST chair ever! And you would never know it as it looks just like the Pottery Barn chair (which with ottoman will run you $1,600) I got it at Walmart Online for 3x less! :-) Highly recommend this unless you are really tall. I'm 5'1 and it fits me perfectly! :-) It is a glider and the ottoman glides too its amazing! The only trouble is it would not fit through our bedroom door bc of the wide back, so hubby had to take the door off to get it in. Not that big of a deal except I made him take it upstairs to the nursery however when LO arrives I might want it in our bedroom for a while so the poor guy has to do it all over again lol. I'm glad he puts up w me!! Lol
Ok not much progress because we were waiting to hardwoods to be installed, but that was finally done yesterday!! All we have left to do now is paint and install a ceiling fan! I can then finally put together the furniture that's been sitting in boxes for months now!
These nurseries are so lovely! I have bedding and a mobile, but other than that just paint & floor samples. Decided to go with bamboo or hardwood flooring to cut back on potential allergies or off gassing - tough decision to make because the room is so small I think we could get a top quality remnant.
Hopefully seeing everyone's rooms develop will remind me to make decisions!
Anyone care to share what shades of grey they've used? We're wanting to go with a light grey for the nursery, preferably with no blue undertones because our lighting makes rooms seem sterile when there's too much blue undertone.
Our master bedroom is Bunny Grey by Benjamin Moore. It's a very light grey and it's super calming. Everyone comments that it's so soothing or relaxing when they come into our bedroom. I love it! I considered using it for baby's room, decided on a different motif.

I love seeing everyone's pictures, and can't wait til I can "play" on this thread, too! At this point, the closest we've gotten in that we have ALMOST finished cleaning out the "junk" room...aka office/spare room/play room/storage room (hehehe) and are having some friends come over on Saturday to help paint it. Once it dries, we are moving our younger DD (6 yrs old) into that room, and THEN we can finally BEGIN on the nursery! Yikes! I had put decals on the walls and they've been there for almost 6 years...and even though they are supposed to come right off, they didn't! So, we have to patch and sand the walls, then skim coat, THEN prime and paint. And THEN...(drum roll please, LOL) we can put the furniture in and decorate. It makes me tired even thinking about it! Thank goodness for Pinterest and Etsy and really good, creative girlfriends who are gonna carry out my "vision", or else this momma-on-bedrest wouldn't get anything done. Bedding has been ordered and several prints/wall decor have been purchased and received. Theme is vintage football, so we can incorporate some of my hubby's super cool gear from when he played D1 college football...but I didn't want a "college (UK) themed" nursery, so we compromised on vintage football with a UK twist Walls are gonna be gray, crib/dresser is black (same as from DD years ago), glider/ottoman are dark tweed, prints on wall are printed on aged-looking linen paper with black frames...curtains will be white...Since I don't have much to show at this point, I'll attach the fabric selections that are gonna make up the bedding! Hopefully in a few weeks I'll have some "finished" pics to share, too!
* for those of you doing vinyl decals! Try spraying a little windex or glass gleaner on your wall before placing the vinyl (and place the decal on the wet wall). use a credit card to scrape it dry. It allows you to move it around freely and easily, and also helps prevent air bubbles before sticking it completely. I work with vinyl a lot at work and we use this trick all the time. It makes the vinyl waaaaaay more forgiving.
Project build-a-room is well underway. This weekend DH and my dad will be putting up insulation and once the weather dries up drywall will go in along with carpet. I should be able to paint by mid to late April.
Thanks to not having a physical room yet, neither of us feel the pressure to have picked a theme, or color, or even have an idea of what we might be interested in. It's driving me crazy. I'm going to have to go back through this thread and steal some inspiration from you lovely ladies.
We got our crib built last weekend, so now all of our furniture is in place! Just needs wall decor now. I'm waiting on some color samples to order a vinyl wall decal. Gonna try to go to Joanne's this weekend to pick out some fabric to make a slip cover for our glider. And then I might hit up some thrift stores to look for a cute wall mirror or something for her room too.
I'm starting to get really excited seeing it all put together. It makes it seem more real to walk past her room and think that we'll actually have a brand new little person to put in it in just a few short months.
I can't remember if I posted these. Floor was done last week. The valance my mom just ordered. Can't wait to start getting things in it now. Step dad has to finish making shelves for the closet. Super excited.
@flyingryann Wow that looks awesome! You have some serious decorating skillz! Also, if you don't mind me asking- how old is your house? I noticed the picture rail and wood door. I'm a big fan of old houses.
We have a cute white crib, dark wood changing table, and the items in the picture. I couldn't believe I found curtains that match the pattern on the top of the dresser! Baby blue and pink for our little girl's room.
I'm almost done with all the bedding, just need to attach the ties for the bumper. I also picked out the paint colors today but I'm waiting for paint to go on sale at the hardware store. Her room has also become the extra toy for my son but it's slowly coming together.
MrsP419 It's from The Land of Nod. It was a little spendy, but we've been given a dresser and our crib was under $300 (DaVinci Jenny Lind 3-in-1 Convertible Crib), so I felt like I could splurge a little! Land of Nod has a ton of fun baby stuff, and their bedding is all 15% off right now.
I need help - I can't figure out what color curtains to get. The wall color is light-medium grey and definitely has a light purple tint to it. Crib furniture is mostly white with some chocolate trim and here is the bedding (this is not our room). Any ideas?
