I don't think I would be able to wait to know! I'd probably be rolling up in the ER, begging for an u/s. FX for you, @katzkiss!
THERE IS NOTHING TO SEE ON AN ULTRASOUND AT THIS POINT IN PREGNANCY.
Yes, that required yelling. Fuck. Stop with the shitty advice newbs.
We really don't know what "at this point" is, as she could be 5 weeks, 6 weeks, or even further along. I don't think she should go to the ER if she is not bleeding heavily or experiencing incredible pain, I was just saying if I was in her shoes I would probably have a hard time not wanting answers, ASAP. I think following up with her OB on Monday is a great idea, and I hope she gets some good answers from him/her!
So you are going to run up insurance costs with unnecessary appointments?
You might as well head in for IF testing and treatment now since you have no patience. Actually don't have a child if you are that damn impatient.
And yes, if you have TriCare that doesn't mean it doesn't cost money. You doing it costs everyone money because your insurance is funded through tax dollars.
Nope, there is a difference between wanting answers ASAP and actually getting them. As I said above, I think waiting until Monday is a good idea.
But you have got to be kidding me. TriCare costs money? And here all this time, I thought it was free! Wait til I tell my husband...
@WhoCanItBeNow I was with you until your comment about her not having a child and her insurance. I'm impatient as hell. I have two children and we do just fine for the most part. I've been working on my patience for years. I think it's over the line to say that she shouldn't have children based on the comments she's made in this thread.
I'm impatient too. I don't like the "hehe, I'm so funny, I would run up bills even though I know I don't need it" because it does cost everyone money.
I also don't find it cute or funny that some on this board pee on 10 sticks a day.
I will retract that point. I stand firm on her the insurance part, because it is true. Even if she doesn't pay a monthly premium, it still costs everyone money.
I wouldn't run to the ER. I learned with my first miscarriage that they don't do anything for you there that you can't do for yourself at home.
DH and I do have a premium, and it is actually more than the premium with my place of employment. The copays are much more reasonable, but I do know that is thanks in part to taxpayers. I'd definitely trade high copays for DH to never deploy again!
TriCare does cost money. Not to you, but to the general public who pays taxes. Our taxes go to pay your insurance. Seriously. That's the point she is making.

I read that comment as sarcasm too. I guess it wasn't as clear to everyone else!
@whocanitbenow I completely agree with you on the whole unnecessary ER visits and urgent care crap. I see it all first hand in the hospital as an RN and it drives me crazy. But, that being said, saying she shouldn't have kids because of her lack of patience was way uncalled for. Just because someone is so eager and impatient to find out what's going on with their threatened pregnancy, doesn't mean she will be an unfit mother. Not cool. ETA just saw your post above about retracting your comment

I'm not one to jump into these posts but I do have to say you guys commandeering this thread to argue is pretty shitty, she posted to get advice not to see you guys argue over something she already has decided on. That being said I really hope things work out for you @Katzkiss. Sending good vibes and lots of positive thoughts your way. Take care of yourself and listen to your body this weekend.
Ummm...unacceptable poasing, TriCare Insurance and the tossing around of medical diagnoses aside......congrats to the OP. I highly doubt your pee sticks would be that dark if you were in the midst of a miscarriage. Please keep us posted and the best of luck to you.
I had this happened to me a few months into trying. I tested and the test line turned positive pretty fast soon after I peed on it. It was very dark like yours. I tested right after again with another stick from the same dollar store brand, and the same thing happened. Figured it was a bad batch because the test line was so dark and as soon as the pee hit it, it turned positive. Did yours turned positive quick? I think it may just be a bad batch.
OP, do you know your blood type? Are you rhesus negative? If you are negative and unsure of how far along you are it would be important that you get yourself to a doctor or hospital to get a rhogam shot.
FX for you. I'm sorry there are so many unknowns right now. Hopefully you'll get some answers soon.
No help or advice from me, but wanted to say Good Luck, and I hope it all works out. Hopefully this cramping/bleeding goes away and you get a big thumbs up at the dr. on Monday. FX for you!!

Good point. I had to go in ASAP for a rhogam shot when I started miscarrying (before they could even confirm it was a miscarriage). I can't remember how long of a window you have before your body will start developing antibodies...I think they recommend 48 hours after bleeding starts?
But all this won't matter unless your O neg, just thought I'd give you the info @katzkiss. Hopefully the dr on call thought to ask you but we've already established that she's a dipshit. And if it's not a miscarriage a rhogam shot won't effect the pregnancy.

It's not just O -, it's any - type.
Oh, did not know that! Thanks for clarifying, I just thought it was for O neg people.
OP, I'm late to the party here but just wanted to chime in. I'm a hospital prenatal RN, not an MD, so I obviously can't diagnose anything. But just based on what you're saying here... I'd lean with the theory that your "period" might not have been a period at all, but some kind of early first trimester bleeding that's now recurring. PPs are right that pregnancy can cause a positive OPK, but ovulation cannot give you a positive pregnancy test. Unless you have a bad batch of cheapies (maybe try another brand?), it sounds like, at this point, you're pregnant. But further along than 5dpo, since implantation just doesn't happen that fast. Were you temping before all this? (I'm mobile and can't see siggies, sorry!) If so, what was your previous O date?
In any case, waiting till Monday sounds best, as there's nothing the ER can really do for you at this point. I'd wait unless you're having excessive bleeding, signs of infection, or severe pain. (If you do develop any of those things, seriously, go to the ER.) Heavy bleeding and cramping this early could be a sign of impending miscarriage, but then again it might not. It sucks, but there's not much you can do other than wait it out.
I would guess your doc will want to test your serum hcg level on Monday to see where that's at. (It might give some clues as to how far along you are, although there's a wide range of normal values and it's not going to pinpoint dates by any means.) They may also want to schedule a second test to see if your hcg levels are going up or down.
FX for you, I hope you get some answers and that everything turns out okay. Good luck!
Thanks for all the great information. Unfortunately, I wasn't temping until this month. The bleeding stopped last night so, all in all, it wasn't a lot. But I'm still slightly crampy and when I took a test this morning, it was a little lighter than yesterday's. So I'm still in limbo here!

@mayaruth81....The reason i gave that advice was because i had irregular bleeding once and they made me come in for an ultrasound to make sure everything looked normal. My doctor would be the first person i would call in this situation.

A blood test would be fine, but an U/S this early isn't going to show anything.

Rhesus negative = any negative blood type.
Rhogam is given with 72 hours of the bleeding. If the bleeding now ended 4 days ago, it is too late for Rhogam.
I am Rh- . I had the shot at the end of my pregnancy. I'm not sure if I should run to the ER for a shot. The bleeding stopped last night and I feel fine. No weakness or dizziness.
The Rhogam shot is indeed for any pregnant woman with a negative RH.
People who have a + have an extra protein in their blood that people with a - do not have. If a - RH woman carries a + RH baby, their body will pretty much say "Wtf is that protein? Better build an immunity in case it's a disease". Then the next + baby the woman has is attacked in the womb as if it was a virus.
The Rhogam shot blocks the woman's immune system from freaking the fuck out at the protein so she can carry + babies successfully each time.
@Peledreamsofrain Thanks for posting that info, I did not know that. Question though: If I and my H are both -RH can I assume there would be no need for a Rhogam shot?

There's no real need for the shot, no. But your physician will probably give you one anyway just to be safe. Weirder things have happened than people getting their blood type wrong.
