@Peledreamsofrain Thanks for posting that info, I did not know that. Question though: If I and my H are both -RH can I assume there would be no need for a Rhogam shot?
There's no real need for the shot, no. But your physician will probably give you one anyway just to be safe. Weirder things have happened than people getting their blood type wrong.
If there is documented blood type in Dad it is a waste of time and resources to give Rhogam. I would totally side eye a MD who gave it anyway...

@KatKiss, since you are RH- and were just bleeding, you need the Rhogam shot. Definitely be seen tomorrow for this. Its best to get it within 72 hrs of the bleeding.
I highly doubt that a period like bleed for days is from the cervix. The recent spotting, sure I can see how that may be a possibility if she had intercourse recently. But in general, a Rh- mom who bleeds at any point in pregnancy should be getting Rhogam so that she doesn't senstitize and attack the fetus. If her partner is RH- aslo then this obviously isnt a concern. But she said she received RHogam before, so my guess is that she needs it again.
ETA: r.e. the u/s--I wasnt suggesting it to see a heartbeat. I was suggesting it to rule out an ectopic, which is an emergency and I would expect any ER doc worth their weight to be able to diagnose. I only mentioned the SCH bc that could be another possibility as to why she is bleeding.
And ER docs are trained to handle emergencies. An ectopic is just that.
Again I stand by my statements.
You must be new. I have seen plenty of extremely experienced providers have difficultly locating pregnancies outside of the uterus at such an early gestation. ER docs do not routinely do first trimester sonos and, even then, they tend to have a general radiologist interupt the findings.
wtf am I fear mongering?! You are the one who came at me with a list of reasons of why an "early" u/s is not needed. All I did was point out reasons why it could be. I am not exactly sure why that chaps your ass so much.
You keep saying she's having an ectopic pregnancy.
actually, I never once said that. Show me where I said it and I'll gladly stfu.
N14 called. They are asking that you please return to the board.

an early u/s is not needed at this point. At 5ish weeks there's nothing to see anyway. I have to agree that you're causing unnecessary fear at this point.
Sometimes less is more in this situation. OP is clearly heading to her doc tomorrow, I trust her OBGYN will explore all the possibilities.

Happy? Go back to Nov 14. Seems like they may have similar issues to Nov 13.
Yes, it is a concern. However my saying so doesn't mean that that is what is actually happening. Any fucking google search about first trimester bleeding will list it as being a possible explanation. Possible =/= definitive, and I never once implied it as such.
Why terrify people for no good reason? Was she complaining about one sided pelvic pain? No. So I don't see the point in terrifying her when clearly nobody here including her know what's going on. I'm sure she's smart enough to realize that any pain and/or excessive bleeding is a sign to head to the ER.
You know, as a loss mom, I have to watch myself and make sure I don't project my own fears and experiences on others. There are so many times that I come across a thread that reminds me in some way of my own situation and I feel the need to "educate". But, most of the time, I take a step back and realize that there's no sense in scaring the shit out of someone for no good reason.
OP. Best of luck tomorrow love. I'm sending you so may positive vibes, hoping for the very best outcome here. FX for unexplained bleeding and an otherwise healthy and thriving pregnancy.
I'm looking forward to reading an update. (((hugs)))
I just wanted to thank everyone for the kind words and support. You guys are great and hilarious and, whatever the outcome, I'm glad I have all of you at the end of the day.
So YES! I am pregnant-a little over 5 weeks. I got my Rhogam shot-thanks for the reminder ladies. They took my betas today and will again on Wednesday so I will let you know about those results. I'm also getting a vaginal ultrasound next week to see what's going on with the bleeding. Oh, and they definitely ruled out ectopic so we can put that one to bed!
