I consider myself truly religious.
Geighs? GOOD.
Scmusmorshun? GOOD.
Sex before marriage? GOOOOOOD.
Honest question though, what religion supports those things? Well, abortion and premarital sex anyway. The gays are starting get love lots of places.
Unitarian Universalist churches are accepting of all those things. It's a super liberal church. It's not really a religion though. It's more of a community for people who look at the world in all sorts of ways and not one view is considered "correct".
For transitioning at daycare, DD's teachers usually start sending her up to the next class for a little each day do she can spend time with those kids and teachers. We generally try to have her do what they do at daycare, nap and snacks on the same schedule, but that's about it. I'm always amazed at how much she's capable of when it comes to things like drinking out of a cup, cleaning up, etc -guess I baby her too much!
For bigger kids - my mom taught school for many years and would get so frustrated when it was obvious parents never even looked in the backpack for notes and homework (1st grade and kindergarten). I think it's so important for parents to be engaged and show an interest in school if only to show kids that it is important.
I don't think there is any reason to try to out-teach the teacher but if your kid has an interest in something, you should encourage that and let them learn and not stifle them. I'm thinking like, just because your kid is an early reader you shouldn't be all "no you can't have any of those books, it'll put you ahead of your class."
If I had to wear pantyhose I'd just wear pants every day. Are pants allowed?
We still have to wear hose under pants. I mean, they can be knee highs or thigh highs, but they still have to be hose. But I've always preferred skirt suits anyway.
Eyes on the prize, though. Tomorrow is my last day.
Congrats on your last day-- but do you mind me asking how the eff they would know what you were wearing under your pants??? I am boggled.
If you're wearing heels, I would imagine the feet would need panty hose. Otherwise I don't know. This is crazy to me and it making me love my work's dress code.
Not sure if UO or not, but you should think about what you wear when out with your kid. We ate at Chili's the other night, and a man (dad?) was eating with a kid about 4 yrs old. I don't know what the front of the shirt said, but on the back it said "fucking cunt". I think it's a odd choice when out with a kid.
I would consider it an odd terrible choice...anywhere.
I think my UO is that I don't have a serious issue with stereotypical gender roles. While I can totally see that BB portray these, they don't bother or offend me. If it works for a family for Mama to cook and clean and Daddy to act like an idiot most of the time, and work to provide for his family, good for them. It's no sweat off my back.
They're not a real family, though. If they were, I would say whatever works for them is fine. But since it's a book series that's supposed to teach lessons and model behaviors for children, I'd rather pick a family that has a modern set of parents and models my values.

I'm baptized/confirmed Anglican but I attend Catholic Church with my husband.
I feel like religion is what YOU take out of it and how you interpret things. To me, church is a community. Some leaders (not my priest) preach things I don't agree with but I don't take those messages home with me.
I can never disassociate maxi dress with maxi pad. So when you say you wear a maxi, have lots of maxis, etc, you can guess what I'm picturing.
I've never referred to it as a "maxi pad" because I wasn't born in the 1950s. It's "a pad" just like there is one only pill that can be referred to as "the pill".
So what you are saying is that you guys are all sippin the Kool-Aid.
Alice in Wonderland is about drugs. HEADS UP.,
Well, if that's your logic then most cartoons are based on bible study because it's mainly just about someone doing something they shouldn't and realizing it, and doing it right next time. Learning lessons and whatnot.
You can learn to do right and wrong outside of religion. FYI
Which is exactly what I meant. The stories that I have watched (I read that maybe there are newer ones that I haven't seen) have nothing to do with religion, just about learning lesson, which I find most cartoons do, so what make Berenstain Bears religious?
Um, their own description?
Yes, but assuming you didn't know about this description (I did not) and you watched the show, it wouldn't stand out as being religious. It's not really any different than most cartoons that I have seen.
I don't even know what you are talking about now. I asked if they were religiousy. Someone said no. The end.
I think people should just ignore threads they don't want to read. And Mack and Sookie are too fucking kind to deserve a call out of any kind.
I don't think it's a call out at all. I love Sookie and Mack and wish they'd post more in other threads but sometimes I get the impression they only want to talk to each other.
The mookie love threads are fine with me, as are all the love threads. But yeah, I wish they would not last on the front page for as long as they do. Especially if I accidentally open it up and chase that fucking yellow flag for a week straight!

It drives me bonkers when people are making a right turn but turn into the left lane or when they are turning left and go into the right lane. TURN INTO YOUR CORRECT LANE!!!
My driving experience in Canada was such that everyone turned into their designated lanes so people turning right could turn at the same time as someone turning left and there were no accidents. Here in KS, you have to wait because you might get it hit. I don't like it. I don't like it one bit.
If one more person freaks out on my BMB about transitioning to WCM I'm going to scream. It's not a big deal!!! That seriously has come up every day for weeks!

So I'm guessing your kids around are 1 year old?
Isn't this the point of BMBs? Collective freak outs about transitions to whatever the fuck comes next?
Well yeah, I guess. It just doesn't seem to be a huge deal to me. A lot of my new mommy neuroses are wearing off. Which is why I suppose I've been hanging out here. :-)
@mrsbadkat I'm gonna disagree with you there. Watching other people freak out has mellowed me out parenting-wise. Pre-internet I would have invented a baby bubble by now

I would have been much more mellow if we had all started on Parenting. But cruising along with the nutbags we used to have from 1st tri - 9-12? Meltdown city.
C'est vrai. Although I'm hyper aware of car seat safety now which I wouldn't have been otherwise (thanks, @elmoali)
I remember freaking out at one point because I bought Johnson & Johnson bath products and people were saying it causes cancer. So I went out and bought Burt's Bees and then like two days later that still wasn't natural enough. They were saying some other brand was better :P

Edited : clarity
This is more of a FFC than an UO, but MIL bought me a big container of some Johnson and Johnson baby wash. I like it and use it on LOs occasionally. That's not the confession. The confession is that I hide it when my sister visits as I know she'll give me crap about the dangerous toxins in it. I am cowardly.
I can't get the ticker to work, but I have two sons:
When my kids were babies we didn't even have BMB. We just all happened to have kids around the same age. Shit went crazy over here when the kids went to K. Complaints about snacks galore!!
DH used to be like, "Only pampers are good enough for the precious little ass of DS," but after 14 months, I buy the CVS brand now (with coupons!), and he doesn't say a word. Small victories.
OMG panty house. I started posting in this thread at 7 am before my coffee. Please to forgive me.

I was trying to quote the WCM thing. WCM is to @Drea926's BMB as PTing is to our BMB.
