This isn't a UO here but it is at work. I don't think panty house should be required in the year 2014. Especially in Florida where it will be hot as balls in about a month.
Oh gawd. Who is weaing pantyhose at your job? I hope they are 85 or older, or that you are a nurse from the 1960s.
Some employers require them. Mine for example. And no, colored tights are not allowed as an alternative.
Y'all don't like truck nuts (said in deep southern accent)
:::spits tabaccy:::
J/k... we don't get any truck nuts around Atlanta. I'm sure if you venture into the more... Confederate parts of Georgia there are plenty of trucks with scrotums.
If I had to wear pantyhose I'd just wear pants every day. Are pants allowed?
We still have to wear hose under pants. I mean, they can be knee highs or thigh highs, but they still have to be hose. But I've always preferred skirt suits anyway.
Eyes on the prize, though. Tomorrow is my last day.
"The author said he wants the books and their Sunday School-style lessons
to excite children to explore the Bible and learn more about God.
Ironically, Berenstain said his own search for God began as child."
Yeah...... Not for us.
I have not watched one berenstain bears show that talked about God or religion.
I've never seen anything Bible-y or preachy in Berenstain Bears.

The books aren't churchy at all. At least the old school ones from when I was a kid. The Berenstain Bears and Too Much Junk Food? I love that sh**!
They play Berenstein bears on Sprout. I have never seen/heard any religiousy references in the tv show at all. I really like the cartoons. They have the same topics as other developmentally appropriate shows.
There is a book series as well and I haven't read those since I was a kid but I am guessing that is where the biblical/religious references are.
My mom was not involved in school and never went to P/T conferences "because why do I need to hear over and over how great you are." /sad anecdote
UO: It's been a long time since I was a Girl Scout but I ended up quitting because it was stupid. I didn't learn anything except cookies are damn good. I don't know if I'd put DD in scouts (I have many years to decide though).
So what you are saying is that you guys are all sippin the Kool-Aid.
Alice in Wonderland is about drugs. HEADS UP.,
Well, if that's your logic then most cartoons are based on bible study because it's mainly just about someone doing something they shouldn't and realizing it, and doing it right next time. Learning lessons and whatnot.

If every level taught what needed to be taught then no prep would be required. I am not going to teach what is coming up in the next school year. Then you'll be bitching about my kid being bored and daydreaming in class.
I reinforce the teacher's rules at home. I make sure the work is done. I follow the teacher's plan for the week, etc. But I didn't go to school and finish in elementary education. You did. I didn't come up with the lesson plan. You did. So I am will support what is being done at school in any way that I can but I don't see where I need to be the lead in this.
I wasn't saying the parents need to teach the kids everything. I just meant support is good - exactly what you described: reinforcing rules, making sure work is done.
My UO opinion is that religious based shows are awesome. I encourage my kids to watch.
<-----not saying anything about what anyone else chooses, just what's best for my family. I don't get all the hate for religious stuff. If you don't believe, you don't believe....but there are some of us on here that are religious.
I don't think you should teach your kids ahead of time but if you don't reinforce what they learned the previous year over the summer you should probably be punched.
This (probably popular) opinion brought to you by a teacher's wife who is tired of listening to her husband bitch about this.

Its in the dress code but I've noticed a few people wearing dresses without them. I'm too new to know how serious it's taken.
What's so offensive about bare legs? We see them all the time.

To be honest, I always thought the Berenstain Bears were a family of Jewish Bears. So ya, no, no strong catholic (or any other religion) undertones.
Nope, not Jewish. They are Christian bears. There's a specific line of Berenstain Bears religious books:The Berenstain Bears: God Loves You, The Berenstain Bears Say Their Prayers and a Berenstain Bears Bible.
I have more of a problem with the portrayal of traditional gender roles. I have one book about cleaning where it's pretty much Mamas job to clean the house. Dad bear whines like one of the friggin kids about doing chores. At the end, they realize they should "help" Mama bear. Nope nope nope.

That's fine, I just don't dig laceyjeans perception that religion/bible is the reinforcement for right and wrong.

Which is exactly what I meant. The stories that I have watched (I read that maybe there are newer ones that I haven't seen) have nothing to do with religion, just about learning lesson, which I find most cartoons do, so what make Berenstain Bears religious?
If I had to wear pantyhose I'd just wear pants every day. Are pants allowed?
Yes but I get sick of pants. I wanna wear dresses and skirts.
I got a maxi that I don't have to wear anything with. I'll be getting a lot of those

Um, their own description?
Yes, but assuming you didn't know about this description (I did not) and you watched the show, it wouldn't stand out as being religious. It's not really any different than most cartoons that I have seen.

Congrats on your last day-- but do you mind me asking how the eff they would know what you were wearing under your pants??? I am boggled.

Not sure if UO or not, but you should think about what you wear when out with your kid. We ate at Chili's the other night, and a man (dad?) was eating with a kid about 4 yrs old. I don't know what the front of the shirt said, but on the back it said "fucking cunt". I think it's a odd choice when out with a kid.
Re: UO?
They are a necessary evil.
I have lots of opinions about legwear today.
