Yay! That'll be a fun one..funny moment on this snow day, my sis was holding Joss in her lap and suddenly Joss wiped her hand across her nose-which has been runny today-and grabbed my sis hair. She about had a meltdown because there may have been snot in her hair. I just laughed at her and thought I've had worse on me from joss. Whiner
We had my work Christmas party on the weekend (we're always late).
It was supposed to be a party limo with booze, a pub crawl in Niagara Falls and then a Supertramp tribute band. BUT picking up the last of the guests the limo bus drove off the road and we were stuck in a barn for 3 hours!!!!!!!! We missed the show of course.
Oh well it was my first time partying since LO and I'll take it!
Ha ha @Nix55. I'm alive. It was nice seeing some of my old students and colleagues. The kids didn't give me a hard time but I think we're still in the honeymoon phase. It was amazing how easy it was to jump right back in! It definitely is more fun listening to that stupid friking FP remote sing about patty cake, but I got to teach systems of equations ( @majwv8 knows what I'm talking about ) so that was pretty cool too.
One older woman that I work with grabbed my stomach and asked if I was pregnant again when I was expecting the next one. I told her that it was just fat. I never liked her and now I hate her.
@phishgirl29, When I went back a colleague asked when I was due. My reply was, I had her 11 weeks ago. Ugh. Stupid arseholes! I'm glad you had a good first day back!
I haven't read about everything but we survived our travel day! Including a long mechanical delay and the rental car place telling me they are out of cars despite my reservation (it isn't just on Seinfeld). Then I made it into work late, grocery shopped, and got everything into my sisters house (including a super heavy suitcase, pack n play, and all the groceries) while wearing an overtired fussy baby on my back! But she's going down now and I'm free to help my sister out w her 1 mo old twins! Looking forward to cooking them meals every night and holding fussy newborns and doing dishes and all the things my sis did for me when N was itty!
Ok let me try that again. Yes, that is order of operations. Speaking of PEMDAS, has anyone seen this controversial equation? I had a group of PhDs from MIT at work (the guys who write our algorithms) up in arms fighting about this. Without further ado, what is:
6÷ 2(1+2)
1 That's my final answer. Now tell me if I'm stupid please.
Can I just say I am not looking forward to homework time in ?th grade. We have already decided that homework will be DH's territory. I had better grades, standardized test scores and study habits than him but he works in higher education and has a passion for it. We'll see how that works out...
My Facebook news feed has been taken over by everyone posting their "movies". I refuse to do it. I'm a little curious, but I don't want to add to the flood.
ever since i threatened to start sleep training my LO has slept wonderful! why didnt I threaten it earlier!? It sad for me though because he doesnt fall asleep nursing anymore . He eats and then wants to be put in his PnP to finish falling asleep. He did this all on his own without prompting, its def a bittersweet time for me. Now if only I could figure out how to get myself to fall asleep soon after he does so I can take advantage of an awesome nights sleep again
Ok, so I looked at mine. And, it started fun.. but then it was all ones from like the last 6 months. Mine was unimpressive also. Facebook... you disappoint me.
Hey everyone I'm an actuary so I do math for a living!
And I think the confusion from all the higher level mathematics people that argue it is because, past like simple math, you never use the division sign anymore. So when you see the equation typed out like you did it kinda depends on what your mind sees. If it looks most like 6 / 2(2+1) (imagine the that "/" is a horizontal line and the 6 is above all of it) then you think it's 1. If it looks more like 6/2 (2+1) (imagine the 6/2 is a fraction but the parentheses is neutral next to it) then you think it's 9. The thing is, to avoid these order of calculation confusions no one actually writes equations or formulas out like that anymore, using the division sign (I'm in mobile so I can't type it out). Because it's somewhat ambiguous. The correct way to write it would be to use actual fractions and that's how anyone using math should do it. They should get rid if the division sign. It's stupid.
Also, you should listen to me, because Numbers is my name . Ha. Ha.
And note that, despite my chosen career in a mathy field, I can't do arithmetic for anything. Give me excel or a calculator. So take what I say with a grain of salt
My little was so amazing today! I had to drive into the city (2 hrs each way) to shop for a new car seat. DH is working tons lately so M and I went alone. She did the drive there and back like a champ! Played with some toys about 1/2 the way in then quietly put herself to sleep for a nap. We met my brother and his girlfriend once we got there. She happily played with them while I tested out different models in the car then we all went out and had a great lunch. She and I shopped some more and then did the 2 hr drive home. She slept the whole way!! Then to top it all off, she, for the first time ever, let me lay her down drowsy and she fell asleep. No crying or anything! I'm so proud of that little girl! She's usually so fussy, especially when it comes to sleep. But today she just had it all figured out. Growing up so fast!!
It must be his teeth... It must be his teeth... It must be his teeth... 1:25 and we are on wake up #5 and feeding #2 (in addition to nursing to sleep.)
((Hugs)) @catalinapink I hope the message is better than what you expect. Please have faith that if adoption doesn't happen for you that the right family will get the right children. Your exclusion will be a blessing to another family. Everything does happen for a reason.

My reaction to this was "Aw, our LOs are growing up so fast!".

6÷ 2(1+2) = 6÷ 2(3)=6÷ 6= 1
6/2(1+2)= 6/2 * 3= 3*3= 9
And I'm correct because I'm Asian.

And that's my take
Any other math discussions? This is fun!
