At newter - I completely understand. I suffered with a bad eating disorder for 6 years. Any talk of "diet" is a huge trigger for me. When I failed my hour and I was so tempted to go back to bad behaviors. It's so hard to keep under control. I have my 3 hr. Here's to hoping I pass. But if I don't ill survive this too. Giant hugs. I get it.
My apt with the diabetes clinic is tmrw morning. While still sad and somewhat concerned I am really looking forward to finding out what this all means for me and getting this under control! Wish me luck!!
I passed my 3 hour! My numbers never even got over 100 - that's what I get for eating too close to the 1 hour I suppose, even though my doctor said it wasn't a problem!
My doctors office said my number at the 2 hour mark was right at the cut off (cut off being 155 and my number was 155) so she said reading the results the way they are, I technically passed but that she wants to add an A1c to determine whether to say I passed or failed....so now I'm waiting to get those results today...
It depends. Some offices use a glucometer and some draw blood and send it off. Drawing blood and sending it off is a lot more accurate but you won't know anything until the next day at least, probably.

I had the 1hr test done in the office, but I need to go to the hospital lab for the 3 hr....if that is any indication- I'm not sure.
But I was only over my 1 hr by 9 points...so I am hopeful. I just get anxious because they say there are no other indicators of GD so in reality everything could seem just fine and I could have it....that's worrisome.
Well finally got a chance to talk with my dr about my 3 hr results and how they were a pass but very borderline. They want me to meet with a diabetic counselor and monitor my sugars for 1 week and my dr said I was so borderline she would consider me to have gestational diabetes. I'm bummed but glad they aren't just writing this off as no biggie. I was hoping there would be something in between you have GD or you're in the clear, but apparently not
Sorry you got the dx, I'm glad they're taking it seriously, though. Hopefully the monitoring will turn out to be nbd and you won't have to make many adjustments to keep your numbers down!

Took my 3 hour and passed, which makes me sooo happy. They said my levels were so high on my first one that I may have had to go on insulin, so I am happy they think I have it under control. To be fair, I put off the 3 hour for several weeks. It was a combination of working nights and not being able to go and also attempting to watch what I eat, in hopes of bringing my levels down. My levels were good and I lost 3 lbs in the process, so I am happy!
Nothing you could've done leading up to it could've prevented the test coming back positive. That 100g glucose pretty much overrides anything you've been eating or not eating. You either have it or you don't, and I'm glad you don't!

Bombed the 3-hour test horribly. ( Not looking forward to this, since trying to reduce my carb intake made me dizzy and sick earlier this week. Have to wait until Monday to talk to my doc, though, since I was sleeping the test off when they left me a voicemail and now she's gone for the night. x.x

I passed my 3 hour today, but just wanted to send a big hug to all you ladies who have to work with this for the rest of your pregnancy! You are awesome mamas for making so many sacrifices for your little ones. Hearts!
Failed my 1 hour.:( Cut off was 135 and I was 140. My doctor told me to have a candy bar or a Coke everyday 3 days prior to 3 hour. Is that normal? I can't remember the last time I had a candy bar!!!
Booo! I was told I'd get the 1 hour fail call by Wednesday and didn't get it until Thursday. Fortunately I didn't get my hopes up! Hopefully you'll pass the three hour!

There's like a 15 point margin of error either way on the finger prick tests. When you're testing all the time it's nbd because you can still see the trends, but for something like the gtt the blood draws are MUCH more accurate. But I agree the waiting sucks.

Waiting sucks... I watched streaming stuff on Netflix and was on facebook a lot. Hoping you pass and you get your results soon!

Just found out I failed by eight points. Going in now for my three hour. I figure why wait? I just woke up and didn't have breakfast yet. See you on the other side!

Did anyone else just feel like they wanna curl up and die while waiting? I have an hour to go, and I just wanna curl up into a ball. And eat a salad. Oh, and my baby is vibrating. Pretty sure this is the most sugar baby will have in utero and beyond until they're old enough to trick-or-treat.

Welp, add me to the list of 1 hour fails. Boo hiss. Not freaking out, but not looking forward to the 3 hr test Friday (not that anyone looks forward to it...)
I had mine last week- found out that I passed but was borderline so I am now trying to avoid processed (white) carbs and lots of sugar.....
@biggerinreallife I felt OK during the test but ended up feeling pretty sick for the remainder of the day. So get some rest if you can! Good luck!
Definitely be careful if u were borderline. I passed borderline too and had to point it out to my dr that I was insanely close to failing. Now I'm diagnosed with GD even though I passed and am definitely having to watch my meals very closely to stay under my blood sugar # targets.
You mean your dr. didn't notice you were close to failing? My doc told me I was borderline on the 1hr draw (of the 3hr test). Were you borderline on more than one? Just one? Now I'm nervous....

Yeah I don't know what my drs were doing. If u were borderline on one and passed the others your fine I'm sure. I was borderline on the 2 hr draw and bombed the 1 hr draw (both in the 3 hr test) so I barely passed bc u can have 1 number out but not 2. I wasn't trying to freak u out and of your dr already talked to u about it I'm sure you're good. I was just shocked I had to bring up I was concerned for them to go "oh yeah. You need to start monitoring your bloodsugar"
