Will the dx itself get you the boot, or just if you have to take meds?

Just if I need meds, so if I can't keep my fasting under 95 and my one hours under 130.

  • Here's hoping your diabetes will cooperate with your management methods!  It sounds like you're not way over now or anything, so that's a good start!
  • I passed my first 1-hr at 18w and then failed it yesterday. I go back to take my 3-hr on Wednesday. I'm not happy about this.

Our baby boy,Logan, was born still at 19w3d on 7/1/2011
Our 2nd baby boy, Mason, was born still at 20w3d on 1/31/2012

  • Halfway done with my 3 hr as we speak. I guess I will find out bf I leave if I passed or not. Fingers crossed. Luckily my husband just got here and is keeping me company. Makes the time go by a lot quicker to have someone to talk to.

  • Good luck today! I passed mine on Tuesday and had to wait 24 hrs to find out! That's lucky you will find out today.
  • I am currently at the lab for my 3 hour test. I don't remember being this hungry last time. Crossing my fingers that I don't have GD.

  • I failed my 1hr yesterday.  I got 144 and the cutoff was 135.  I asked the Dr. how common it is for a woman to fail the 1 hr and pass the 3hr and he said "it could happen."

    Not very encouraging.

Yesterday when I was telling my husband and friends about the test i was so laid back, "It's no big thing, even if I don't pass I'm sure I will pass the 3 hr..."  Now I want to cry.

  • I just found out I passed! It was literally as close to a fail as possible but it was a pass. My 1 hr number was 208 which is way high and my 2 hr was 155 which is as high as they allow but my other 2 were fine so phew. I guess I am still planning to work on my diet and try to walk every night bc it is clearly as close to GD as u can get. Not sure if that means anything but this whole thing has made me so much more conscious of what I am eating

  • Rrrrrachel Where was that comforting stat when I asked my damn Dr?

    Gah!

Also I just almost flew off the handle at my husband because his response to my worry was "Well making better food choices can't hurt."  Which in theory is perfectly nice and not untrue...but it made a firey rage rise up in my body and I wanted to stab him.  I know we don't talk about weight gain on this board- I never bring it up.  But I have gained less than 5lbs this pregnancy (which Dr. said is fine), i NEVER eat sweets (not even before i was pregnant- not into them) and I am pretty active.  Don't talk to me about my food choices unless you are my Dr.

  • I'm surprised I haven't gotten a call about my 3 hour results. I finished the test at noon yesterday and I know I failed.

  • Yeah that's super odd. Why couldn't they tell u right then? Don't they have the numbers right away?

No, they do blood draws so they still have to send those to the lab for the results. I only know because I took my glucometer with me and checked my own sugar every hour. Unless my glucometer wasn't working right then I definitely failed. I'm pretty sure I missed all 4 but my middle two were definitely over. I'm just waiting for the call so I can know whether or not I need to actually meet with the nutritionist again (since I've BTDT before) or if I can just get a script for strip refills and start monitoring myself). My fasting this morning was 93 which is normal but it's the highest I've seen yet ( outside of yesterday) so I'm mostly worried about my AM blood sugar. Those are the ones I had trouble with when I was pregnant with DS.

  • My fasting was 100 this morning! I was right at ten hours after bed time snack and I think that's too long for me. Plus I was up a lot last night with the toddler and I'm sure that doesn't help.

Yup, I was up a lot last night as well and I remember them telling me with DS that night wakings could increase it.

  • What's really mind blowing to me is that my sugar was 133 after the 1 hour. Most practices don't even send you for the 3 hour with that result! It makes me wonder it I would have in fact failed the 3 hour with DD too if I had been sent for it.

  • My first pregnancy my one hour was 139 (which was passing then but would be failing now), and this time I failed everything spectacularly. I had the convo with the nurse about whether I had it last time and just didn't get diagnosed. She said since my daughter was 9 days post dates and only 7 pounds something I almost definitely did not. So don't second guess yourself too much :)

  • Holy crap my midwife called (I missed it - listened to the voicemail) and said my "test looked GREAT!" Maybe my glucometer really is off!?! WTH? I feel weird celebrating. I have to wait to Monday now to hear the actual results though because their office is closed on Friday afternoons.

I think I'll still be holding my breath until I hear the results on Monday. But I figured the fact that she said "GREAT!" means it couldn't have even been borderline? Otherwise it would've just been a "just wanted to let you know you passed!" thing? I'm obviously reading so much into this.

  • Yay!! That's good news to hear! I wonder why they didn't say anything to me about mine being borderline. I guess I will wait to hear from my dr on that.

  • Ugh add me to the list :( I failed my 1 hour and am going to do the 3 hour on Monday.

I'm super freaked out because I passed out at my 1 hour, so I have no idea how the 3 hour will go. I'm going to ask them if I can do the test laying down, and if they can use a pediatric needle instead because my veins are so bad.

    Flipping sucks.
You can absolutely lay down. I almost passed out at my 3 hr with my son (I was ok this time) and they gave me a room and I literally just slept the whole time. They came in each hr and drew me while I was laying down. Def ask

  • Failed my 1-hr. GD test today.  This was the only test I was anxious about, and evidently it was with good reason 'cause I failed it by more than I was thinking I would, lol.  Probably have to go back for a 3-hr. though I need to call my OB in the morning (or maybe on Monday, since she doesn't work weekends) and see what she wants done.  Bleh.

  • 1/2 way done with my 3 hour I'm so tired and want to take a nap I wish they had somewhere for me to lay down.. I just hope I pass and can't wait to go home and eat and lay down
  • I failed my 1 hour.  Did the 2 hr last Thursday.  Waiting on results... fingers crossed.

  • I bombed the 1 hour test badly (35 points over) but the 3 hour I passed with flying colors.  So who knows... seems like it is a toss up after failing the 1 hour.  I feel your pain though... I had to sit with my head between my legs for the 1st hour and half because I thought I was going to pass out any second after drinking the 100 gram glucose for the 3 hour.  Good luck!
  • Found out today that I failed my 3 hr. :(( So now it's to the nutritionist etc. I work 10-11 hrs a day 30 min lunch if I'm lucky and no breaks. I don't even have time to go to the bathroom let alone worry about checking my sugars. I don't know what I am going to do. With my schedule at work, I am honestly not surprised this is happening. I will do whatever is best for my baby but I am very upset. Just had to vent.

  • Aww, prettyinpink, I'm sorry. I got my diagnosis almost a week ago, and so far it hasn't been so bad. I'm not dealing with the kind of work schedule you are, but hopefully you'll get the hang of it and it won't be as bad as you think.

  • Got the call that I passed my 3 hour! I was so convinced that I had GD, but so relieved that I don't.
  • I failed my one hour today. I had a score of 136. Frustrating in that I lost 30lbs before I got pregnant and was healthier than my first pregnancy. 3hour on Monday. Was planning on taking a half day and going to work (I teach middle school) at lunch after the rest. Now, seeing how many of you felt sick, now reconsidering. Advice?
