I started having symptoms while pregnant. I think the pregnancy brought them out. Or I just had it long enough I don't know. Blood in urine isn't exactly a symptom of chlamydia but it could be. I started having blood in my urine when I got pregnant. And I still do. That's why I don't know if the treatment worked.
Ok, so now you could have a UTI. Not chlamydia.
So you still should have waited for your doctor's results instead of consulting a bunch of internet strangers.
I've been tested for UTI so it's not that. I have to wait until Tuesday. I just wanted to see if anyone had experience meanwhile I wait.
Something tells me that OP hasn't been seeing a doctor on a regular/normal basis during pregnancy.
I see this BS all the time at work, and it angers me more than anything. By the grace of god these babies end up alright. This post if a perfect example of why Chlamydia is the most common STD, because people don't take responsibility for their health which is dumb because it is preventable and the fact that she was trying to get pregnant makes me shake my head even more.
You all are such nasty bitchy women! This poor girl came on here hoping for advice on her unfortunate situation and all you have done is make her feel like a big dumb std infested animal. We are all about to be mothers and should be working to set an example for our children....in utero or otherwise. Isn't this forum a place where women can come for support and to ask those tough questions without judgement??? What's wrong with you people???
I think I covered most of the white knighting requirements right???? :P

You didn't tell us you feel sorry for our husbands and children! I expected better from you, @clo1982
I don't usually comment on these threads especially give nursing advice. I do know that STD testing is done as part of the routine testing done in the first trimester and should have been caught then instead of having it for 3 years. It is the most common STD and most women don't have symptoms, but I would think if you have had the infection for 3 years, there would be symptoms at some point. These are questions that you should be asking your OB or midwife. Here is some info about Chlamydia.
Something isn't adding up. I would have a serious conversation with your significant other.
It was caught during my first trimester. But I hadn't been tested before that. I know that was stupid of me. I just never thought I would have this. I got treated but not sure if it went away. I am waiting for my results. I have asked my obgyn
I'm trying hard not to judge but I see this scenario frequently, but I hope you have learned a lesson here…especially since you are having a baby; these things should have been addressed prior to getting pregnant. That would have saved you having to worry about your LO and post things like this.
"Dear Lord, I would have loved to
have held my babies on my lap and tell them

ExBF may or may not already have an STD, but sleeps around anyway and at some point gets an STD.
ExBF and Prego have more sex.
Prego contracts STD from ExBF. She does not have annual GYN exams, and has no symptoms... thus does not realize she has an STD.
Prego finds out ExBF is cheating and they break up (~3 years ago)
Prego does not see a GYN for STD testing.
Prego finds a new guy- her FI (fiance... which is what he is when you're engaged). Prego and FI have sex.
Prego may or may not have passed STD she didn't know she had to FI.
Fast forward 3 years since the cheating ExBF: Prego gets pregnant, and sees a doctor for the first time in her adult life.
Doctor runs regular tests and finds STD. This is the first time Prego learns of her STD.
Doctor gives Prego meds for herself and FI. Doctor does not schedule additional testing to confirm the meds work. FI is never tested.
Prego and FI take meds, but Prego still has symptoms and asks to be retested for STD.
Doctor retests Prego, but does not do a pelvic exam or offer any additional testing even though it's possible that Prego has PID or some other complication from an untreated STD. It is also possible that FI had the STD, but treatment didn't work on him and Prego was re-infected.... so many possibilities here.
Prego is waiting for results and posting on internet forums looking for people with similar experiences.
Is..... that what is happening here? I feel like I need a color-coded timeline. @-)
@Farmboyswife we can just quote my post every new page and add to the timeline as it gets more complicated?
I know I'm late to the party here...but how do you know that your BF is cheating on you and neglect to get STD tested until you are pregnant and you essentially have no other choice but to be tested by law? And you were planning to have a baby, but didn't bother to get STD tested before TTC even though you knew your ex-BF was cheating on you?
I couldn't imagine how your FI is okay with that. MH and I have been friends since we were in our early teens but didn't have sex until we were in our 20s. We both got STD tested even though we had clean histories (no cheating exes). Am I hopelessly old-fashioned?
<-- Grew up during the "AIDS epidemic" and is cautious as a result.
This!! Before MH even got near me I got tested and asked him to get tested. I thought that was just common sense
I am right here with you ladies. Maybe it is just me (or that I have taken a basic sex ed class unlike OP) but I actually got myself tested after every relationship ended and before each new relationship. And that is not even taking into consideration that most of these relationships I practiced safe sex in.

I have learned my lesson. This is my everyday stress. I hate myself so much for putting my baby in this position. I pray daily that everything comes out ok. I wish I could do more but all I can do is wait. I wish I could do more

only if you color code it and give us a flow chart when we reach page 6.

All of the medical information she shared made sense.
For example, some practices DO treat partners without testing them. There ISN'T a specific test for PID (ESR and a white count aren't specific tests for anything. ESR in particular is so nonspecific it's practically a joke). Chlamydia CAN be "silent" for years. Scabies aren't an STD.
Oh, and anyone who has ever had an abnormal pap needs to STFU about people with STDs being "dirty" and "gross" because cervical cancer is caused by HPV which IS sexually transmitted. Ideally the entire world would STFU about STDs being dirty gross and shameful, but I set my bar low.
Gawd I have a headache right now. This thread was so not what I needed........

I find this really hard to believe. Not even the "without testing"--but to treat someone who isn't your patient? It just seems like a huge risk that most practices wouldn't touch.
I wouldn't, for just that reason, but I've heard of it happening.

One of my many jobs in college was at a free community health clinic and it was the norm there. The bigger risk was considered to be the untested partners (many of whom probably have never darkened the door of a MDs office) continuing to spread the disease. Lesser of two evils.
@pepperedmoth i would 100% agree that all the symptoms "make sense" but the idea that someone could have this for 3 years, not have any symptoms, not have infertility issues, not see a doctor, neither SO have any symptoms, neither SO see a doctor, get tested in the first tri, not get it taken care of, and have a doctor who doesn't seam to think its a big deal?
To many extenuating circumstances. Granted, they all could be true, but the fact that every thing has gone "wrong" so to speak is what gives her ridicule.
Also.. Who said scabies was an std?
She just said you can have it silent for YEARS. That's why's people get PID because MOST women DON'T get symptoms. There have been woman have had PID and have had successful pregnancies, even having chlamydia for YEARS and got pregnant. So yes it is possible. I got tested and I took care of it? But I don't know if treatment worked or not, I'm waiting on the results. I've heard of treatment not working that's why I wanted to make sure. Yes my doctor think it isn't a big deal because Supposebly chlamydia is easily cured. Some doctors won't be all cautious and overprotective. If you want to respond, atleast get your facts straight, and read better yet re read everything
I see why she got ridiculed and I'm not gonna judge the people who did. Y'all are my homies; I'm loyal. ;-) I just don't think she was lying. I have heard many, MANY crazier stories than this. Urology, what can I say?
The STD shaming did bother me. BUT like I said I have a massive headache. I should probably go lie down........
