chlamydia experience?

Re: chlamydia experience?

  • My doctor said that even if I did have that, she would choose to treat after my baby was due because the treatment was strong.
You can pass an infection on (the cause of PID) but not PID itself which is just a symptom from that infection.

Eitherway it sounds like you should follow your OB, we aren't going to be able to help with most questions like that and its what your DR is good for.  Keep a note book on your questions to take in with your next appointment and get on the google and read the CDC site and read.  Heck maybe by the time you are done researching all this it'll propel you into some desire for  medical type studies

Ok that is a relief. I'm just waiting for my results now. I will I'm going to see her next week.
  • I don't know much about infections in pregnancy. In non-pregnant women, yes, but not pregnant ones!

If your doctor is saying everything is OK, that's great! She should be able to tell if something that drastic is wrong. I know you said that she didn't seem worried. In my experience OBs tend to worry TOO MUCH, not too little. If this was going to hurt your baby, she would be all OVER that. When you see her again I'd confess all these concerns. I bet you'd be reassured.

It seems to me that this whole affair has freaked you the shit out (understandably) and you're almost looking for things to worry about. Deeeeep breaths. Trust the professionals. Try to hold on until you can call on Monday.

When you DO call or have an appointment, be pushy about needing your questions answered. Make her (your OB) spend the time with you to explain things. Random internet strangers are SO not the right people to ask! Really!

  • I agree with PP. You can pass the infection on, but PID develops over a longer period of time. When you see your OB next, confirm your test results. If they are clear you (and baby) are good. Even with no further infection, if you do have PID it isn't going to just go away on its own, but that doesn't mean you are still infected or infectious.

I'd also talk to your OB about your concerns with a vaginal birth. Chlamydia is one of the diseases that can result in blindness if mom isn't known to be positive and baby is born vaginally. Normally babies eyes are treated a birth with an antibiotic medication to prevent this (all babies are recommended to get this treatment since so many women don't have any symptoms). Get reassurance that the eye ointment is enough to prevent eye problems with baby. If you aren't satisfied with that, ask about the possibility of a c-section (baby would still receive the eye ointment).

I'm getting my results on Monday. I'm so anxious. I am seriously thinking about c section, just worried about it. Is it safe? I'm going to look into that with my OB.

  • Oh and I'm never posting on here again! Other sites were much more helpful and actually RESPECTFUL. Half of you ladies here are seriously here just for drama and are so rude. Never again, I'm deleting this account. No point
  • I will know on Monday. I know it's not I just wanted some advice. But thanks for the luck

    Only took you two days.
Yeah? Thanks. And remember it's not good to talk down on people because you NEVER know what can happen. Oh and fuck you

  • Please, if you get retreated again for chlamydia (both you and your FI), both of you need to be retested.  I know your dr. says "it works" but there is also the what if one of you isn't being faithful.

Just don't be naive and do it for yourself, your baby, and your relationship.
