Regarding working moms vs SAHM's I think it can be a very subjective conversation: How difficult is your job? How difficult is your baby? How much do you put into your child's learning and development each day? At the end of it I think it's disheartening that we are trying to compete and say one is harder than the other. We are all important and play important roles to our family whatever we are doing! I had a high stress job before staying at home. Outside sales for what could be considered a "luxury service". If I didn't perform I didn't make any money. I honestly feel, for me, staying at home is more difficult bc I have a high need baby and stress about whether I'm giving him enough each day. I also care FAR more about my current boss than my old. I could get a new job, but if I eff my kid up, that is permanent. Him being the best little version of himself is what's most important. In my case, I'm not sure I can offer him everything he needs at home, so I'm choosing to work abd for him to go to daycare. Again, it is different for everyone and as women we should recognize and support all the difficulties instead of play the "I have it harder than you" game.

Wow, as if working moms don't have enough guilt. I guess I'm a terrible mom because I could easily stay at home but I'm going back after my maternity leave. Why should I give up all my goals and everything I worked so hard for just because I had a baby? This little girl is the centre of our world and will continue to be when I go back to work. The most important thing is that everyone is happy. @Mrswilson you are very ignorant and obviously live a very sheltered life

Late to the party. I had to make a choice. I chose to work now. We have a WONDERFUL daycare/school. I am raising my child and when she is 13 I will quit work and I will continue to raise my child. I will be involved in every part of her life. These are my earning years and I can work now to provide for her later. This was a hard decision but it was the right decision for my family.

I just want to point out that moms who work feel that same exact pressure to make their kids the best possible versions of themselves on top of having a real boss. I don't think you actually meant otherwise but reading that rubbed me the wrong way a little.

That being said I do agree with your sentiment, I think both gigs are freaking hard and I'm pretty sure I'd end many days in tears if I was a sahm.

@tiffletons518 Braum's. But I'm not sure if that's just a Texas thing? They are crispy and crinkly and delicious. But my second favorite are McDonald's, WHEN THEY ARE DONE CORRECTLY. If they are soggy, my day is ruined.

It may take a few before one works for you. Like other people have said, communication is key. And also making sure you both are comfortable in the sessions, this coming from someone who used to get grounded by her mother for what she did or didn't say in the sessions.

Sorry you had to go through that.. My only counseling experience was premarital and she was great but we didn't really get into the deeper issues because that wasn't part of the program. I'm calling around today to find someplace we can go. He said he is willing.

Rally's is delicious. Their fries are seriously the best. I really wish we hadn't given up fast food

Depends on the aquarium or zoo to me. I've been to awesome zoos and aquariums and really rinky-dink ones, so it would depend on the quality of the two being compared.

I saw that documentary too. It was heartbreaking. I wish I knew more about seaworld before. We went there on our honeymoon (romantic eh?)

@cl8badb I've only gotten this far in the thread (which looks like it's going to be a doozy, and I'm way late to the party), but I wanted to drop in and say that I'm having the same concerns although I'm in a slightly different situation.

I work, but my husband is currently a SAHD. Just last night I was thinking how nice it would be if LO could go to DC even just a few days a week because of the interaction he'd get with other kids as well as other adults who work with/entertain/teach kids day in and day out. I keep thinking about the art projects, different toys, different books, etc., that LO is missing out on by being at home.

Obviously there are a lot of positives to LO being at home with his dad all day, but I do wish we could have the best of both worlds because neither way - SAH or DC - is perfect.

@TheTamedShrew I feel bad for all animals in captivity, though (hangs head) I love going to the zoo and the aquarium. BUT Blackfish rocked my world when I saw it. I just felt for that whale so much. Great documentary! Totally worth watching I'd say!!!

If I eat a pop tart, it's got to have crispy edges. I eat the edges first, then make my way to the middle.

I eat my Reeses the same, eat all the chocolate off, then save the peanut butter for last.

Same with Snickers, chocolate comes off first...I've got to sort my m&ms by color, I eat the ugly colored ones first, or if I sort them and I have UN even numbered M&ms I eat all the UN evened ones first.

I don't have a UO today... Maybe that's my uo.
