  • I have a strong dislike for Denzel Washington.  I think he's a total creep and scumbag.  DH has tried on many occasions to prove to me that he's actually quite nice and even philanthropic, but I can't get past the image I have of him.  I guess it actually means he's a very good actor because he's convinced me that he IS the characters he plays, but I can't shake it.

And on the flip side, I love Ice T... and he was a pimp who rapped about horrible things.  I think I'm a little misguided.

  • I hate Will Ferrell. He could be delightful IRL, but I can't stand his movies. Especially "Elf" and "Anchorman".

    **runs to duck for cover**

I do too; my husband keeps saying that it's grounds for divorce.

  • I don't get the whole glider phenomenon. I have a rocker I was guilted into taking (heirloom) and I hate that even more.

I'm glad it brings comfort to you and you LO, I just don't see the need for a fuss/added cost.

I could get behind a big comfy armchair, but the cost vs use for a nursery chair was not worth it. (To me)
  • Well I know this is going to be incredibly unpopular, and likely very naive on my part...but I think the parking spaces for expectant mothers and mothers with children are ridiculous.

Being pregnant is not a handicap.  I understand that as pregnancy wears on we become more uncomfortable, but the vast majority of us do not need special privileges.  We are not special snowflakes just because we are carrying a child.  Of course special circumstances in individual pregnancies may deem a reliably close parking spot necessary, but if it is truly that bad perhaps you should ask your doctor for a temporary handicap parking tag so that you may park in ANY designated close space in any parking lot.  Really most of us would do better with taking a few extra steps every day.

As for the spots designated for mothers with children...really?  I mean, I understand it is more convenient to be closer to the store entrance, but again having children is not a handicap.  You (the collective you) are not more important and speshul than someone who has chosen to be child free.  Your LO will not melt if he gets a raindrop on his head, or has to be out in the summer heat for an extra 30 seconds.

Really what it boils down to is a marketing ploy.  It's not exactly enforcable...don't know why my panties get in such a twist about it.  Also, FTM here, and I reserve the right to change my mind on the second point.  Mostly kidding.

That's all I really have to say about that.

I don't like tattoos on women and I dislike about 95% I've ever seen on men too.  Not like, "oh you have a tattoo, we can't be friends," I just don't think they are attractive.
I agree, I just don't like tattoos. They're just not my thing. I can't think of one thing I want to tattoo on my body that I'll look at in 30, 40, 50 years and be happy to still see it tattooed there. Plus, I can only imagine what a tattoo would look like on a wrinkly body in 50 years!

  • Kate070 said:Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that a lot of these expectant mother/mothers with small children spots are actually slightly wider than regular parking spots.  This is so women don't have to struggle to squeeze out of their cars with a giant bump or get LOs out of car seats with no space when parking is tight.
Maybe it's a regional thing.  The ones we had all over Winston-Salem, NC were just normal spots with SS signs on them.  That place had something in the water that made everyone jump on the baby train.  But not me!  I resisted!  Until a month after we moved....ha.

I haven't noticed nearly as many parking spots like this where I live now.  Just at baby specific stores like BRU.

  • Okay, here goes nothing...I can't stand country music! Maybe I can't relate because I grew up on the beach but it's so annoying how they all sing about pick up trucks, beer, tractors etc. I will make an exception for traditional country because I do enjoy that genre.
I'm not a fan, either. I don't hate it, I just prefer other genres. Unfortunately, my LO appears to be a fan since she starts going crazy whenever anything country is played. Why can't she like Depeche Mode or something?!

::shrug:: If you find them so offensive, don't use them. As a person with bad balance who is on blood thinners, the less icey parking lot I have to cross, the better. I'm bruised enough already, I'll happily take the closest spot I can get. I'm hardly waving signs and starting petitions to get more of these spots, but I think they are thoughtful when stores have them.
Oh, I don't.  I mean, I did before on occasion when a parking lot was pretty full except for those open spots.  ;)   Of course, like I said, there are a lot fewer where I live now, so it's a moot point, but I wouldn't use them anyway.

I think my point is that EVERYONE would prefer to not have to cross an icy parking lot.  What about someone with bad balance on blood thinners that isn't pregnant?  If your balance is truly that bad I'm sure you could talk to your physician about getting a permit so that isn't an issue when you are in a parking lot that doesn't have the expectant mother parking.  Plus, the actual handicap spots are typically closer to the store entrance anyhow.  Know what I mean?

Belly button rings are tacky and gross.  The fact that 1.  People still have them and 2. Pregnant people wear them even when they're forming a bizarre lump on their bump under their shirt really skeeves me out.  It's not 1994 anymore people.  Let it go.

I miss my belly button ring. I took it out 10years ago, because I just couldn't wear it to work, but I wish I still had it!

I love me some Bachelor/Bachelorette. It's my guilty pleasure. But I watched this weeks episode thinking "Why are all these girls pretending like they're enjoying this so much?" Three things that are not fun date ideas IMO: Snow, running, getting naked with dogs. No no no. Not to mention getting in a hot tub and making out on a first date, or nude photo shoots, even without the dogs. (Little known fact about myself: I may be obsessed with my dog, but I am not an "animal lover" by any means.) Who the F comes up with these dates???

I will say, that neon 5K did actually look cool, and I do like to run, but I would not appreciate "Surprise, we're running a 5K" on a first date.

If this is unpopular, I don't want to be popular. I'm on the bach/bachelorette bandwagon.

ETA: I do agree w/ all of the above though. But there's not an episode I watch that I don't say "this is ridicilous" but continue to tune in each week, each season, etc.

I have mixed emotions about this. I hate my tattoo, it's totally stupid and unattractive. I also think all of my H's tattoos are stupid aside from one.

That being said, one of my good friends is covered in tattoos and I think they look great on her. She's actually a model for a tattoo mag. I'm not sure if it's just because they're all meaningful to her or she just pulls them of well, but I like hers.

  • Tattoos and any type of body modification don't bother me but I personally wouldn't get a tattoo. They look fine on other people.

  • And you know it isn't as easy to get handicap placards as one might think.  In Massachusetts families with autistic children are eligible for them because some autistic kids are runners and are at a much higher risk for getting hit by a car.  My son is one of those kids.  I have to football hold him in parking lots, even on the icy ones...even while I'm pregnant.  We have been waiting over a year for our placard. It isn't coming probably, who knows.  But I always park with him in the "expectant mom" spot.  Always.
Agreed. Last summer I could barely walk due to my back issues. I was only granted a temporary permit for 3 months. Because, after 3 months, I was completely better. :/

Yes this, too. I separated my pubic symphysis when I had DS. I had to use a walker to walk, yet I still couldn't get one. Try doing anything with a walker and an infant carrier, not happening. Even when DH was with us, he had to help us both.

I have my belly button pierced, but I don't leave the ring in there.  I don't want the hole to close though so I poke it back through every once in a while.  But I agree, it looks weird to wear it while pregnant.

I loved Anchorman!  You people who hate it are crazy :-p
  • I think the expectant mother spots might be unnecessary, but I don't really see anything wrong with them. In my area the only places that have them are Kohl's and Babies R Us or other stores specifically geared toward moms/babies. I appreciate them simply for the fact that if someone is going to have a difficult time getting themselves or their young child out of the car, I don't want them to be parked next to me and possibly hit my car with their door.
