So if someone had to ask what my least favorite part of the pregnancy was last time I may say the 3 hr glucose test just bc it made me so ill. I decided this time around I would be very healthy and eat no carbs the day of the 1 hr. Well looks like it didn't matter bc I still failed the 1 hr and way worse than last time. I know this is good to know in case it is GD and obviously I just want my baby to be healthy but it's still stressful. Anybody else fail their 1 hr?
Also not trying to freak ppl out about the 3 hr, I just have really low blood pressure and get super light headed so this test was brutal for me.

On another note... Is anyone super emotional about failing? I know it's nothing I've done but every time I think about it, I cry?! Sigh...
A lot of people who fail the one hour pass the 3 hour. I'm not sure what it is. But basically you have a better chance- more like 50/50 than pass/fail so that helps. Good luck to you.
My dr had results the same day. They sent 3hr paperwork in the mail the same day I failed the 1 hr.
Yep def got the emotional thing going on. Had to hold back tears when they told me and completely lost it when I called my husband. I know it's silly but it's not a good feeling. I'm def going to see if my dh will keep me company for part of the time at least too. I need a distraction.
You have to track your blood glucose levels and pay attention to what you eat. If you need meds, you'll get some. If you need insulin, you'll get some. Your numbers will be tracked closely and your docs will monitor you carefully. Many doctors are very good at treating gestational diabetes these days, and they will be keeping an eye on you and your LO from here on out. Honestly, I think I am more confident in my prenatal care because I have gestational diabetes and they watch everything so closely.
I know it can seem overwhelming at first, and like it's a lot to take on and manage, but I promise that it's not that bad. You'll be just fine. Just work closely with your medical team and everything will be a-ok.
I dont think it's worth freaking out over, but I'm a little sick of people totally downplaying it and acting like it's no worse than a hang nail, too.
Also the gd diet is NOT low carb. It's a controlled number of carbs spread out throughout the day and paired with protein. Going low carb can cause your body to go into ketosis and that's not good for your baby, either.
Ugh that sucks. I'm already nervous bc I'm doing an ob this time instead if a midwife (just more convenient location wise) and I feel like I'm going to hit resistance with a few things anyways. I don't need something for them to hold over my head as a reason to do these interventions. Let's hope we pass the 3 hr!!
I can attest to the comment about carb intake. I feel like I eat carbs all damn day long. If anything, I probably have more carbs now that I'm GD. The difference is with the how & when.
@sascott520 did u choose to skip the 3 hr or did they just tell u to? I'm just curious at what # they sat don't even bother since mine was pretty high too.
I rescheduled mine for this Friday so I can find out sooner. Fingers crossed!
That number isn't crazy high. Hopefully you can control it with diet.
