These nurseries look great!!!! We are going with a nautical theme for our DD's nursery.. We painted today....accented one wall with some bubbles to match our under the sea bedding. We just need to put up the chair rail/molding on the remaining three walls to separate the aqua color from the white. This snowy day finally gave us the push we needed to get this started. Phew.
Ours is nautical too! Have had it painted for about 3 months and necessary furniture put together for almost two...now adding the fun stuff! Hubby and I are both big into the ocean and sailing, and really anything having to do with water! Cannot wait to post a pic of the finished product!!
Ladies who are painting their nurseries gray, can you suggest paint colors?!? Our nursery is also going to serve as a guest room so I decided on gray (it's a really large room with an alcove) but will do gender/theme accents in the alcove where I'll put the crib and changing table.
@DemoDoll, did you find that beautiful frame online or get it at a shop someplace? My theme is shabby-chic French and that frame is something I'm looking for.
@nycgirlkat ours is silver tradition by Behr. It's a very light gray. We painted about 8 months ago when we thought we were selling our house, now it'll be the baby's room
@nycgirlkat I got it at Bed Bath and Beyond. I can't remember if it was a frame or a mirror. I'm leaving it empty like shown and putting an L in it for her name. Oh and it came in white but we painted it pink.
We just bought a house and haven't decided where the baby will be after we are done nursing (during that time she will be in my room). We just re did my older daughters room which she might wind up sharing with the baby so ill post that! The dresser in there is actually the changing table an we have yet to hang up the original literary Alice in wonderland prints on the wall above her bed.
@meg.eliz1 - that's what I want to do with my cool frame/mirror thing that's similar to yours and @Demodoll!! Did you paint yours or did it come that color? I did a button letter for our wedding in 2012 as reception decor! I attached them with string but I could always use glue for the baby's! How did you do yours? Did you print out the outline? I love your E! It turned out great!!
I'm going to AW out my guest room since we had to take everything out of the nursery and put it upstairs. (New nursery is old guest room.) I've done nothing to the nursery yet because I had to wait until the guest room was settled for holiday guests, but I've worked hard on our guest room so wanted to show it off. I can't wait to tackle the nursery!
It was just an empty space with bookcases and DH's desk. Now it's still a very random space with lots of mismatched furniture acquired from various parts of the house, but I actually like spending time up there now! It's a lot more sunny looking during the day; we have two sky lights as well as the window, but I took these in the pm so it's all reading way more orange than it is in real life. Still need to reattach the headboard to the bed, and get some decor. I'm so bad about getting stuff to hang on the walls! The screens go in front of the open balcony when guests are here to give them privacy, and the white desk I just moved up from my bedroom so BIL would have a place to work while he visited. My bike is waiting until DH cleans out the garage, where it will make it's permanent home. But we're getting there!
So far I only have a color scheme picked out which will be light pinks, beige, white, and gold. I'm having bedding made since we will have a round crib. I've attached the fabrics that our bedding will be and the mobile I've picked out!! I'm obsessed with nursery decorating now that I've started!!
God love my hubby. He put together basically everything in the nursery other than the paint color which I slapped on the walls two years ago. He even picked out the curtains and installed the sticker tree decal... I am so grateful :-)
@P&B715 - are you doing a theme of colors from that onsie? I think one wall that dark blue with a stripe around the room of red with 3 white walls would look cool!!
You ladies have inspired me to get going with the nursery! I've had the crib sitting in a box since the beginning of December! No placement has been finalized.. just put the crib and dresser in the room to have them out of the hallway. I have a couple questions for you since I can't make up my mind.
Color scheme is pale pinks, greens, blues, cremes, and a burgundy thrown in! I'm going to do a light blue on the wall/walls... 1) Would you do all four walls or just that focal wall and leave the already painted tan walls as is? 2) Would you paint the dresser since it's an antique white and the crib is very white? Curtains will probably be an antique white or cream since the ones I want are $300 from babybedding.com! Glider in the corner by the bed. 3) Is it weird the bed isn't centered on the wall? If I hang her name in big letters, do I center those to the crib or the wall?
I'm a visual person so I included pictures so you can see what I'm talking about. TIA!
ETA: 4) is it bad to have the crib right under the take-in vent for the air/heat? The other vent (where the air/heat enters the room) is on the floor by the window.
Assistance please: we are painting one wall a dark blue, like the blue pictured below. We are also going to do a stripe of it on all other walls. Bedding is a neutrals and I want accent of colors, would you ever paint other walls all white??? Or any other suggestions?
I would do a thin stripe of white, and or red on either side of the navy stripe, or do a thick, then thin band on navy.
havent started on it yet. the furniture(crib, dresser, chair) will be here sometime in february! (yay!) and i do plan on DIYing most of her wall decor. i am still searching for a rug to match her bedding(which is a yellow and grey chevron pattern, accented with polka dots) i am just so anxious for her furniture to be paid off and delivered then it will be easier to start the fun process of decorating!
We just started working on it yesterday. The room was a workout room and requires some fixing up. All we have is a dress so far. The MIL will be getting us the crib and a chair (rocker/glider) will be here in March. Otherwise the room is a huge mess right now.
Sooo, as someone with no abilities whatsoever...HOW are you guys doing the stripes and even more impressive the chevrons??? I though tape on the wall, but there is no way mine would be straight, even with a level.

you can go to the Home Depot and get a laser level and it suctions to the wall. It has a bubble level in it and then shows a laser line across the wall so you can tape off or trace that line.

If I wanted to do chevron or anything fancier than just a stripe, I would do wallpaper. But we aren't getting fancy... even though I would LOVE to do wallpaper.
I just need to get my glider, the mattress, changing pad, and a mirror. My husband loves it but said, "It isn't very masculine." I said it is very neutral and Finnegan can get a more masculine room when he is like 5! Also, his name not being centered to the wall is messing with my obsessive issues, but it needs to be centered to the crib. P.s- Sorry the pictures are upside down. I noticed if I Instagram the pictures they show up the right direction, but if I just leave them they were they were taken they show up upside down. However, if you click the pictures, they show up right.
I second Frog Tape. It's so much better than the blue painters tape. Gentle so it won't peel a layer of paint but the sucker really keeps the paint from bleeding.
Carpet is finally being installed tomorrow morning. Then hopefully we will get stuff done and I will have new puctures to post!! I have all next week off so I will have lots to do including refinishing an old dresser.
Finally carpet in! We can finally get stuff done. I have the week off so i will be refinishing the dresser and getting everything organized. Need to come up with some good craft ideas for wall decor. Oh and I'm working on the mobile now.

@lcr23 Bed, Bath, and Beyond. If you search "Sweet Jojo" you should be able to find it. It came with a ton of them, and I love that they aren't permanent.

Very cute! I've pinned a couple birch tree nursery images on my Pinterest but where did you get yours?
