  • I feel like Al Bundy, sitting on the couch with my hand down the front of my pants all the time so I can feel for kicks.
This thought has most certainly crossed my mind.

Hey guys!? Is pinkish tinted pee a bad thing? I all of a sudden had to go so bad and then it looked like a pink/peach color... Very weird. Am I dying? Lol

    Could be something you ate?

The only thing that can really turn you urine that color is beets. And a lot of them! (I mean every day for weeeeeeeeks) I'd say UTI. You can get them without burning. Time for a doc appointment!

  • Dumb question... When I got UTIs pre-pregnancy, I just took care of it on my own (cranberry juice basically) and they cleared up in a few days. Why is it so important to contact your doctor with a UTI during pregnancy? Can the infection get to the baby, or..?

I'm just guessing, but, maybe because our immune systems are compromised we can't fight them as well. If a UTI goes untreated, it can lead to a bunch of other problems (kidney infection, high fevers) which are really bad for baby. Just a guess, though. (I have an autoimmune disease, so, I can't let UTI's go untreated because of a lowered immune system.)

  • So my Hidden Valley Ranch Dip packets finished today. I'm very sad as this is my current daily craving--ranch dip and veggies. We don't have normal (USA) tasting Ranch here unless someone sends it to me :(

This ^^  and UTI's infections can also cause an irritable uterus, which causes contractions.

This is me except instead of hungry it's having to pee. The second I get cozy and relaxed I have to get up to go to the bathroom AGAIN.
  • Who was it that makes crochet newborn stuff? I have a friend wanting a newborn football hat. I forgot who it was that made them and had an etsy shop for it.

  • Why did nobody mention that having sex while preg would be SO DIFFICULT?  I don't know how you are all doing it... It's fun for 5 minutes and then it's just so much work that it becomes unfun.  Blahhhh, poor DH.

@kendracoleslaw I used to have problems with utis. Sometimes they will go away on their own but other times they will improve enough that your symptoms go away but it still festers and BOOM come back with a vengeance. You can also end up with a kidney infection. I knock on wood haven't had issues with them during pregnancy thankfully so far.

Also I did a ton of work painting the baby's room yesterday and I am paying for it today. My back. I could die and can hardly walk/get out of bed. Needs another coat though. I am super motivated to do things lately but my body just can't keep up.

I don't usually take baths, but I'm addicted to them now. It's amazing what it will do to your back!

    Edit: stupid auto correct

  • I have this cousin who goes clubbing with her daughter every weekend. I think it's SOOOOOO tacky and disgusting. She's my first cousin and she was a teen mom so her daughter is like 21/22 and she is ALWAYS at the club with her. I get so utterly annoyed when I log on to Instagram and she's posting pics of her and her daughter at the club!!!! Go ahead and judge me. I don't care
  • I love how everyone thinks you turn into this total food monster when you're pregnant. I mean, yes, I have super intense cravings and aversions, but I can't eat large VOLUMES of food.

We went out for a friend's birthday to a fancy bistro and I ended up getting a salmon burger which was lovely, but everyone was so confused as to why I only ate half of it. Especially after only having a muffin all day. I didn't know how to explain "squished organs = less room to eat" without it sounding gross :-/

are crib wedge cushions actually necessary or are they yet another gimmick?

I think they're used for babies with reflux issues.

  • I need some suggestions. Help me please! I'm going to a "meet the baby" open house today hosted by a friend's mom. My friend is in town from across the country, and had a baby in November. My question is, is it customary to bring a gift to this sort of thing? If so, what can I bring that won't be too difficult to fit into a suitcase to fly home with? Also, I have next to no money for the next few weeks. I don't want to show up empty handed, but I need ideas!

I'd go with something small like a little figurine or something to go in the baby's nursery (assuming he/she has one). When my cousin had her baby last year I got a personalized cross that read something along the lines of "bless this child" and it had his name and birthday on it. That's the kinda gift giver I am if it isn't a baby shower.

so it's a kind of "wait and see" sort of thing?

    I would say so.

  • I wonder how long I can get away with wearing moccasins in an attempt to avoid polishing my toe nails. This is another reason why I wish we had winter here; who wears open toe shoes out in the winter?

@michaelad3 what about a book? I always give books, maybe it's the teacher in me, but they're timeless :)

I think a book is a great idea. And since @michaelad3 is on a right budget she can probably find one in good condition from a flea market.
  • @kendracoleslaw A long lasting, untreated UTI can cause premature labor. Though it obviously doesn't matter if it goes away (on its own or with antibiotics). I had one early on too and didn't know it, just found out at an OB visit and took a week's worth of prescription antibiotics and that was it.

This is the main reason why I haven't gone to get a pedicure, even though my feet need it desperately and I would love a leg massage. I'm always in boots so what's the point?

Pedicures are the only beauty ritual I've actually done semi-regularly throughout my pregnancy.  I've given up being embarrassed by my leg stubble--I'm sure they've seen much worse.  I'm currently debating going next week once the weather isn't horrendous.  I'm thinking a really fun hot pink or coral would brighten up my mood :)
  • @embear22 All that being said, it won't hurt to try and flush it out with pure cranberry juice :-)

  • @J&NL going and getting a pedicure I have no problem doing but they are so over priced here that I just do them myself and get a salon one for special occasions. Polishing my toes is so uncomfortable right now.

@Stace0616 I'm jealous that you get regular pedicures. I'm definitely getting one the week the baby is due so his momma has pretty feet when he gets here lol
  • Had 351 unread posts in this thread, I think it would save my sanity if I just jump back in at this point!

Thanks for all of the sex talk lately, I have the best dreams lately and last night's was amazing...even though I felt like a filthy whore when I woke up. The husband was thrilled when I woke him with the promise of sexy time this morning :)

  • Why did I put acrylic on my nails?!?!!!!! I want them short again!!!
  • @deidremarie - to be fair, when I say "regular" I mean like every other month lol!  I am 99% sure the last time I had one was right before we went home for Thanksgiving.  It's embarrassing how large this strip of unpainted nail is getting.  We should totally get blue pedicures pre-hospital to welcome our boys into the world ;)
