Re: FFFC

  • I am a SAHM. DH works (mostly from home, but still). He has been totally great about helping with LO since i have been in a lot of pain from the csection and everything.

Im finally feeling better and can get out of bed without pain...but ive been letting DH still handle most of the nighttime duties. He hasnt complained and hasnt asked me to take over, so im taking advantage of his niceness and willingness to do the work.

I feel like a bad mom and wife when i think about taking advantage, but then the nighttime comes and i still dont get up.

But I keep searching craigslist and such for good work from home opportunities. I was only going back to work for my own sanity because my paycheck pretty much pays for the boys childcare, so now I'm wondering why I'm going back at all...

I'm leaving my job the end of February. Vegas isn't for our family. We are moving. I haven't told my work yet. I will tell them middle/end of January. It will give them a month to replace me. I felt bad initially but not now.

Dislike! But I totally get it.
We have put offers in on sooo many houses that before Nola was born we just stopped looking :( damn investors just screw it up for everyone else.

I pitched a fit by the changing table yesterday when DS went for the trifecta literally 10 min after his bath. Pooped out of his diaper, spit up all over the place and peed all over me, his clothes and the wall. It didn't help that I had been peed on three times that day to that point.

I cried big ugly tears last night when, at 11 pm, DS wouldn't get the eff off my boob. He wasn't eating, just kind of sucking in his sleep (not even latched) but the second I moved him he screamed like I doused him in acid.

  • @mavgirl_73 where are you going to go? I couldn't live in Vegas either.

My FFFC: I was rinsing DS's hair and he started screaming and got a huge mouth full of soapy water. I felt like such an asshole.

Oh yeah, the first time I gave DS a bath by myself I was Googleing "effects of soapy water when swallowed by a one month old" he didn't like the taste but no harm no foul.

I am trying my hardest to justify staying home...I never thought I would want to be a SAHM but damn it I want to stay with my baby not take care of other peoples. It makes me sad because I used to love my job but now I would do anything to stay home...

Meh who knows. Maybe north back to Lake Tahoe, maybe across the country, we are gypsies. Wish we could do CA but the taxes are a bummer :/

  • I never want to go to work again. I want to be a SAHM so bad, but it's not an option for at least another year.

I feel really guilty because our dog may have to sit in her crate while dh is at work tonight. It's 8 degrees outside and I have no clue how to handle doggy potty breaks and the baby at the same time. It's too cold to take the baby outside, but obviously I can't leave her inside to take the dog out.. Idk what to do except leave the dog in the crate while he's gone.

DH informed me last night that he is going to have some late nights coming up and I'm going to have to deal with both kids for dinner and bedtime. Instant panic attack/bawling on the phone. I'm not cut out to SAH.
I've done the same thing...too bad I'm a SAHM already.

How long would you be outside and how far would you be from the baby? I guess it depends on where you live/where you would take the dog to go potty. If I were just going in the yard or deck, I would feel comfortable leaving the baby in the PNP during that. However, if you had to walk around the neighborhood or leave an apartment then I agree it's probably better keeping the dog in the crate.

I'd wear the baby in a carrier under a big coat and do at least one potty break.

I live on the 2nd floor of an apartment complex and I have to walk over to a grassy area to get her to potty. I'm always outside for 5-10 min. If it weren't so cold it wouldn't be as big a deal to bundle her up but it's just so cold.

I've left both kids inside to go out and shovel. I was out there for the time you are stating. Grant it, I could easily look through the window or open the door to check on them. Your dog doesn't deserve to be locked in a crate all day in its own stink though. You're dog is your responsibility too.

You can't leave a newborn alone for that long (I'm pretty sure she could get in trouble legally for it).

OP - can you ask a neighbor to run the dog out for a quick pee?

  • I have changed diapers without washing my hands immediately afterwards.
    OOOOh shame on you ;)

Baby is not a good burper so after 3 sessions of 10 mins of me patting him on his back at 1am I just laid him next to me on his back and wiped the spit up as it came up....

Sometimes I just use a baby wipe to get by until I can wash my hands. Even with that, I feel like I wash my hands all the time.

  • As much planning and research as I did, I feel completely unprepared for postpartum life. We aren't even a week old, and it is way to cold for me to get her out of the house to buy nursing bras, etc.
Confession, I feel weird asking DH to pick out a bra for me, but no problem going bra-less in nursing tanks.

Ah don't feel weird! That's what men are for! My H picked out 3 bras for me. He did great! He got one with no wire leopard print. One with wire and comfy. And a a black nursing tank. You'd be surprised how good men can be. I say go ahead let him go to target and get you a nursing tank and wireless bra. I'm sure you'll be surprised and happy with what he comes home with! I also invested in a hands free bra for pumping. That thing was awesome! Too bad I didn't use it very long cause I never produced much. Maybe send your H to target and use FaceTime (webcam) to look at what he picks out.

I'm still trying to figure out how someone could get in trouble legally for leaving a newborn alone for 5-10 minutes. :/ So like if I need to heat the car up before we leave the house I have to take my baby to the freezing car? I don't think so.

  • How is taking your dog to pee worse than showering?

Some people won't shower when they're alone... I will as long as Ariella is asleep and will leave the door open so I can hear her...

She's not running into her driveway to start the car. I've also left DS inside while I run outside but I could listen for him. She is talking about leaving an infant in an apartment and leaving the property (unable to hear if baby starts crying) for up to ten minutes. I don't know the law exactly but I'd imagine you might be able to get in trouble for leaving a child unattended.

Also showering doesn't count because you can hear if baby starts crying and get out if needed.
