Re: Longest Thread EVER! (aka Random Thoughts Thread )

  • I just brushed my hair and the amount of shedding that ensued is down right scary. I thought this wasn't supposed to happen until after the baby was born. I have think hair to begin with! I can't afford this kind of loss!

I'm getting tangled almost matts in the back of my hair!

  • Random question for the STMs in da house: does the worrying about money ever stop? Maybe it's because I'm in finance and deal with it all damn day, but this fear of not having enough money to raise baby is really getting to me lately. We are able to save at least $600-1k/mo but I still am in this mindset that I'm living paycheck to paycheck. Ugh. I think part of the problem is our wedding vendors finally cleared out our savings account last month. I mean, that was the plan and still have my entire deductible saved in my HSA, but I'm still like "oh god 4.5 months is sooooo soon".

Leave it to hormones to play up my irrational fears.

Plus, I watched Les Miserables on Sunday and now have nightmares of prostituting myself while my dirty child grows up with Helena Bonham Carter.

@thomas930 This happened to my SIL with her 3rd. She thought she had lots of time and about half way to the hospital they had to pull over because he was coming. She gave birth in the car on the side of the road! hehe, FWIW it can be cleaned :-D
My coworkers little girl was born in the parking lot of the hospital....literally that's what her birth certificate says. It's one of the reasons I may not be going to our family's Easter festivities. It quadruples my distance from our hospital.
Yea, with SIL they actually didn't know what to put on the birth certificate. In Denmark they have an option for home birth or hospital birth and that's it. However, BIL did get a certificate saying he was the delivering midwife at the birth, which he thought was really cool!

This is how you know you spend too much time on The Bump: 1) start referring to DH as DH in normal conversation or go to type DH on Facebook. 2) When signing onto Facebook from a PC you type www.thefacebook 3) you dream about bump people and in said dream you referr to them by their bump name. (This happened last night with @Aprilmay9 and @irisheyez7)
Too funny! I am TOTALLY guilty of both 1 and 2. I have yet to have a bump related dream but I am sure it is inevitable. I am honored to be "a bumpie of your dreams" HA! ;-)

Sorry to hear about your repeat bed rest. Thats no fun :-( I am glad the docs seem optimistic for you though. Just take it easy and enjoy your time off!

I had a dream last night that I gave birth in the car on the way to the hospital  @-)

Yeah, I'm slightly afraid that this could happen since its an hour drive to the hospital from my house and I went from 6cm to DS being born in 15 mins, that was my second labor. With my first I showed up at 8cm and didn't even believe that I was in true labor.

I told DH about the dream and his response was "hmm, do you think it would hurt the trade-in value much?" lol silly DH.
That thought crosses my mind every other day! My mom thought she was gonna have me on the side of the road, but she was somehow able to get to the hospital!
I told my hubby that we're packing bags for him, the baby, and myself and they will be kept in the car. This is just from watching an episode of A Baby Story where they got all the way to the hospital, then the husband had to drop mom off and go back home because they forgot the bags! The only thing I want to have to grab is my phone, phone charger, and purse.
Even though a side of the road, middle of the night birth scares the hell out of me, I actually really want to wake up in the middle of the night with contractions. I want it to be "dramatic". I just don't want to have a scheduled time to be induced or anything! Idk why, lol.
  • I wish we were going to AZ (in-laws) for Christmas. I don't want to deal with my family.

    Heading there in 20 hours!!
    Gonna tan this bump! ;)

Because it seems more natural...like "It's time!" LOL rather than just showing up at the hospital for an appointment. Honestly either way is good as far as I"m concerned, baby's coming!

Yes! I think it's because when I was growing up, I saw pregnancy how it was portrayed in movies and tv shows. And so far everything I thought was typical hasn't been happening! So I'm just like, let's be dramatic and freak out and have to run out of the door because BABY IS FREAKING COMING! Lol. I really just can't wait for him to be here, *no matter* how it happens!

  • I am SO MAKING THIS for Swerbaby2.0. https://persialou.blogspot.com/2013/05/herringbone-quilts-part-two.html?m=1 I'll make a boy one and a girl one, and then we'll have an extra for the house/outside no matter what. Win! Now I just need to finish the other 49497372 projects on my list.....
I love herringbone and chevron quilts!  I made one that the cat has since claimed.  I'm just going to clean it really well and voila!  Baby quilt.
  • I think DH hates me a little for being such a penny pincher somedays. But to be fair, it's kind of my job. So I let him have an allowance ;) I would MUCH rather keep striving for an emergency fund and down payment than get him that giant TV he is dying to buy.

If I am allowed any maternity leave, it will be unpaid so I'm trying to save 3 months of my take home income right now. I think the anxiety will lessen a bit after that.

Thanks for talking me down, ladies! :)
  • Every one in the house is asleep, even DH. I'm lovinggggg the quiet time.

I did it! It took 40 minutes, half a can of shaving cream and a lot of effort, but my lady bits have been groomed! LOL just wanted to share because I'm super proud of myself.

I've painted my toe nails, put on make up, done my hair and shaved everywhere. I swear to god if DH doesn't touch me extremely inappropriately soon I am going to lose my shit.

Plus side is he's bringing me home Chipotle!! Horrays!!

  • Why won't I learn that my pregnancy hair and hair dye are not friends? This is twice I've dyed my hair and it didn't come out right. I'm so peeved at myself.

On the plus side I did manage to shave my legs for the first time in like 2 weeks.
  • I get overwhelmingly excited when I go #2.

  • Confession: I totally just went and ordered takeout fish and chips. The real confession: I'm only eating it as a vehicle for the tartar sauce and ketchup. Freaking cravings.
I thought fish and chips were always a vehicle for the tartar sauce and ketchup!
