How are you announcing your pregnancy to your husband/so?

So I'm remaining positive that a BFP will come soon and I was thinking of ways to announce to my husband that I am pregnant.

What are you guys planning on doing?

I'm trying to think of something to include our dog. Or buying shoes or a onesie (but I buy baby stuff all the time so that wouldn't be out of the norm).

I'm too impatient to keep secrets or anything. I planned something for when we were ttc #1 and then just freaked and told him I was on the way to the hospital for a blood test cuz I got a positive. Lol so I won't plan anything for baby #2

I'm probably going to come out of the bathroom and show him the pee stick. I'll probably be in too much shock to say anything.

I do want to do something cute to announce to my parents, though. Probably give them a onesie with "World's Best Grandparents" something like that.

I'm always dressing our two DSs in " big brother" " little brother" shirts. So I'm going to put them both in big brother shirts and see how long it takes him to notice.
If I manage to hold it in that long.. with both previous pregnancies I ran out of the bathroom screaming there's two lines on ALL OF THEM and waving my armful of pee sticks around.
I'll have to test when he isn't home.

I sense the whole production will be rather boring.

Like, we'll probably look at the pee stick together. Or I'll look, and run out and tell him.

But last cycle I tested, he actually wanted to come in and look.. so.. whatever floats his boat

It will go something like that, no big surprises to surprise him with.

I won't be able to keep it a secret for long, so will likely just tell him between the tears - he will know what is up. I would like to try to catch his reaction on video to be part of a keepsake for our future child, but I have a feeling I will be too excited to remember to do that without being obvious. Good luck!

Part of me wants to have sex with him and roll over and say, "So, you know how you've been so excited to have sex with me when I'm pregnant...well..."

He sent me on a sort of treasure hunt to propose, so I may very closely mimic that.

He also wants a minion doll for Christmas so if I get a BFP before then, I'll get him one and tell him he'll have his own little minion on X date.

Or, what's more likely to happen is that I'll be so excited that I'll just tell him and shove the pee stick in his face. It really all depends on when it happens and if I can sneak out and buy something.

I don't have anything too fancy planned. I'd love to catch it on video, but a camera out if the case on the counter would be a big giveaway. I did buy a mug for my mom that says "only the best moms get promoted to grandma" and a onesie for my sister that says. "I love my aunt".

We both get ready for work at the same time, so normally when I'm POAS he's in there brushing his teeth. I typically leave the stick on the back of the toilet and he tells me what it says while I'm showering.

I imagine there will be a fair amount of high fiving and maybe some "take that, ovaries!" But I'm not planning on some flashy announcement.

I had a custom onesie printed for when I got my BFP last December and gave it to my hubby as a Christmas gift - it was super cute, but unfortunately that ended in ectopic surgery/loss so the onesie now sits hidden away deep in my closet so I don't have to see the painful reminder. I can't bring myself to try something cute again, if I do get another BFP, it'll be more a 'stumble out of the bathroom in mingled excitement and terror and blurt it out the best I can through the bawling' scenario.

I got him a mug that says Daddy-to-Be on it. I decided to tell him over hot chocolate. DH loves hot chocolate (especially with Baileys in it). So I am going to put the hot chocolate in his mug and see how long it takes him to notice. We just got a video camera on black friday so hopefully I can set it up to capture it all. Hopefully that will all occur this month. FX!

The first time I'll just tell him the pee stick had two lines. Then he'll fall back asleep and forget that I ever said anything.

A few days later when I whine about being in pain from not being able to take one of my meds he'll look at me like I'm crazy and I'll tell him again.

Or at least that's how it usually goes.

This is going to be hard! My husband doesn't have access to a phone all day (he's in the police academy so they're super strict) and he leaves at 6 AM while I don't get up until 8. I got a onesie from Gap Baby that says "i love my daddy" and will have that wrapped up and a huge meal for him when he gets home and we can finally talk!

My husband doesn't pick up on subtle hints (hence the constantly dirty house) so I will just have to show him a digital test that spells it out for him. I've tried going the "can you see this line" way and that ended in hurt feelings.

It went a little something like this:

I walk downstairs all in shock. Ask him what he's doing, he gives me some long winded answer that I wasn't listening to. He asks me what I'm doing, I say nothing and continue standing there. Then he's all "why are you being weird?" And then I'm all "I just peed on a stick and there's a line" and I try to turn on the light. He goes, "if you have to use a light there's no line". WTF? So I POAS again this morning, BAM, line. Told ya, hubs.

This. I figure I will just tell DH and show him the test. I've thought way more about how we would tell our parents! I would love to get a grandparents frame and put an US pic in it and wrap it up as a gift for them.

I wanted to do something creative with our first BFP. But I was just too excited and ran out of the bathroom with the pee stick in my hand. I was jumping up and down and shoving the stick in his face... he was like dude I can't even read it.

I hope I can be a bit more creative with #2.

Why do I keep opening this thread?! I've been really good at trying to not make hypothetical plans because when I get into fantasizing about this it makes not having it so much worse and my period will be due just days before Christmas and I don't want to be a wreck. All that being said, IF this is it, I will probably test on a Monday while H is at work and then run to Target and get one of those tiny stockings and put it on the tree (yes, I am a cliché) with the test in it. I will also get one of those make it yourself mugs at Starbucks and do a World's Best Dad mug for him. I also hate to do this because with my loss record it's probably something I'll end up having to hide. Or I can say it's from the dogs. I'm hoping that now that my insane plan is out there I will be able to let it go.

With #1 I put the pee stick in a ziplock, wrapped in a onesie that said "I

Daddy" and told him while he was moving furniture upstairs at my mom's, right before 4th of July weekend. I cried, he was surprisingly calm, then we went downstairs and told my mom because I suck at keeping secrets from her. Then we told his family that night. It was great. For the next one, I would love to be able to tell the family on Christmas Eve but that will be a longshot. And I really like the idea of putting my ds in a big brother shirt and seeing how long it takes DH to notice.

My initial plan was to cook him a nice dinner or take him to our favorite restaurant (its always private) and give him a scrapbook that I planned to make. He has since decided to be a bigger part of the testing and would like to find out when I do. I still plan to get him a little onesie to pull out and give him, but I will pee on the stick, set on the back of the toilet, walk out and then after the time is up, we will walk back in hand-in-hand and look at the test together.

I forsee hugs and tears and kisses and lots of jumping up and down! Lol.

Buying a onesie that says "Congratulations! You're going to be a Dad!," customizing a fortune cookie (DH randomly did this for me once while we were dating), or baking a cake that says "Thanks for knocking me up." Apparently, I've given it a lot of thought. I'll probably be too excited to do any of those things though & will just wave the pee stick in his face. I don't think he even knows what a pee stick looks like.

I'll have to be pretty blunt with my mom because she's hilariously bad at guessing things. My sister tried to announce her pregnancy by giving her a birthstone for her ring (she wears all of the family's stones). My mom didn't get it at all, and was like "I don't know anyone who has this birthstone". Lol mom.

Our son is, for some reason, obsessed with John Deere. I have no idea why because he only sees them at Lowe's (our tractor is a Ford lol). Anyway I have a friend who works at a place that makes tshirts and I'm going to have her make one for our son that says "Someday I'm going to drive a Deere but since I'm still too little, I guess I'll settle for being a big brother instead" or something along those lines. I haven't quite figured out the wording yet.
