Jackson, Jaxon or Jaxson??

Do you think the "s" in Jaxson is silly?

I love the name Jackson but we want our son to be nicknamed Jax and I think with that original spelling people will call him Jack or Jacks.

I don't really like the spelling of Jaxon but makes the most sense to have the nickname Jax.

What do you think? TIA!

  • i dated a guy named jaxun and he is one of the most wonderful people ive ever met.  id vote JAXUN.
  • I agree.  Jackson and just use Jax as the nickname anyways.
  • Jackson. I'm not a fan of "creative" spellings of regular names.

  • Jaxon sounds like a video game. Come blow up aliens with Jaxon! Also, he will hate you for the rest of his life when autocorrect changes the spelling of his name to Jason. Please, make things easy on the poor kid and go with Jackson.

  • Jackson.
  • Another vote for Jackson.  You can still call him Jax.  The other spellings are horrifying!

  • Jackson. Whether a person is saying Jacks or Jax, it will all sound the same, and who really cares how the nn is spelled since Jax or Jacks won't be on his diploma, job application, or business cards. However, your child will be forever spelling his name for people if you pick an odd spelling.

And maybe he'll prefer Jackypoo. Hard to spell that one with an 'x' in there. :P

It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
  • Jackson. Nickname can be whatever you want, it's your baby. :-)

  • I think Jackson but I'm afraid this is a very strong up & coming name so he might be one if four "jax" in his class. do you like jack? either way,, I'd say Jackson and nickname jax if you want!

  • I feel like Jaxon is extremely popular right now because of Sons of Anarchy. But honestly, go with your gut. Choose what you and your hubby like :)
  • My vote goes for Jackson too. :o)
  • Thanks for all your comments! I think Jackson it is and call him Jax for short.
  • LEMSA said:

Jackson. Then call him Jax. It's a nickname. Nicknames don't even have to make sense with the original name.

You could name him Pete and still have Jax as a nickname.

I agree! Jax is fine for Jackson. Jackson is our boy name choice, too, but we are going to call him Jack.

  • Jackson is miles better than Jaxon or Jaxson.

  • Definitely Jackson - even Sons of Anarchy spells it the right way:  Jackson 'Jax' Teller

  • Jackson. Jax for short spelling. I do this with my dog. His name is Jackson :)

    It's a BOY

  • My cousin just names his son Jaxson - I prefer Jackson, but to each is own.
  • I have one of those names with a regular spelling (like Jackson) and something unusual (like Jaxon). My parents chose the unusual spelling. I love it but I have literally only met two people who have asked me which way I spell it.
Then you spend your entire life telling people how to spell it. It gets old fast. Even if you give him Jax as a nickname, he could choose to change it or go by something else when he's older.
  • I don't understand the "s" in Jaxson.  The "x" makes the s sound, so it's redundant.  I personally hate any spelling except Jackson.  Just because there isn't an X in there doesn't mean his nickname can't be Jax.  Example, my real name is Karen but I go by Kari.  Obviously there isn't an "i" in Karen but it still makes sense (at least I think it does).

  • Jackson. But don't kid yourself that "Jaxon" is original. The whole Jackson/ Jaxon/ Jaacksun is pretty popular and there will probably be several in your kid's kindergarten class.
I was just reading today that Justin Beiber's little brother is named Jaxon. That says something, right there.

  • Jackson is how we are spelling it, Jax as the nickname :)

  • Jackson. I don't care for nontraditional spellings at all.

  • I like Jackson.

  • We decided not to find out the sex of
Our baby but if its a boy we are naming him Jaxson and calling him Jax. But in sons of anarchy, his name is Jackson and they call him Jax.. So it's really personal preference. Good luck choosing!
  • This content has been removed.
  • Yes, the S in Jaxson is not really need. I prefer Jackson. My cousin is named Jaxon, though.

  • Jackson is our choice if it's a boy and we are spelling it as Jackson looks weird the other way
  • Jackson. Don't be mean to your child by giving them a silly spelling.

Also, am I the only person who gets the song in their head whenever they hear the name? "We got married in a fever! Hotter than a pepper sprout..."
