I know this is way off topic but I keep meaning to post it and forget. I mispronounce some of tb usernames. I know I am saying them wrong but I keep doing it. The two that stand out are @jancandance and @nykkolhooks
...I pronounce them jan "candace" and "nickel" hooks...
Oh, also when @foxiloxi was BLang23 I pronounced it "bullang"...
Here's another confession but it's also a brag. My baby has never worn a bib and i don't use burp cloths. She doesn't drool at all yet and never spits up. She's a very neat eater.
(Ducks from the pp that was saying she hates drool!)
I'm waiting for the drool to start though. I know it's coming.
DD was the same way. I also just had to turn her vertical to burp her. She came out with a strong neck. I didn't understand what bibs were for.
DS is quite the drool and spit-up monster, though!
@rissnruss for the "other" kids, might I suggest a subscription to National Geographic Kids? It's $15, but I'm sure if you call you can get a discount (print media and all). I'm gonna get it for like 6 kids so I'm gonna try to swindle a group discount

Lol I always thought people prob pronounced in like bling but with an a.
I confess that I have no intention of trying BLW and every intention if giving cereal and purees. LO is EBF and I want to make sure she gets enough iron after 6 months, so iron fortified oatmeal cereal in the morning just makes sense to me. I'm also going this route because I don't feel like trying to shop for and prepare a well balanced diet all the time. I will add that I intend on giving her finger foods as well as purees, but I still plan to spoon feed her jarred baby food for the most part.

I get the concern about iron, but solids before 1 are just for fun, so I think that's why a lot of people choose blw. There is no real "need" for the solids other than fun and experimentation. That said, I am going to start with a few purées probably but then go to blw. We have a few weeks to think about it, anyway...
I HATE shutterfly. I try not to talk about it generally bc i know just about every single mom i know uses them but I really dislike their quality. I throw away or give away their coupons when i get them.
I'm a photo snob so im very picky tho.
I've been using shutterfly recently because its easy to do online with LO, I agree the quality is crap, any recommendations?

Babies are born with an iron store that lasts them about 6 months...so they do need high iron foods right away when they start solids...
@western diva there is differing opinions on that. It lasts around 6 mo but it doesn't mean they are depleted right at 6 mo... Also, I said I agree with the concern about iron.

I still have 1.5 months to finish my research and make a plan for feeding solids, but M's pedi told us switch from the vitamin D drops we're using to one with iron to make sure he's getting enough. I'm assuming that is for the reason of not having to worry about iron intake through feeding.
My pedi also mentioned an iron supplement. She said meats instead of rice cereal would be a good alternative to avoid the empty calories, too, and add iron. I still have to do more research myself.
