  • I have bought DD 2 Christmas dresses, both in size 6 mo, which is the size she is wearing now, so I am seriously considering buying another dress in 9 months, just in case.

    I am hoping that hubby takes this new job offer, so we can move far far away from his family. :)

    I really wish we lived hours from my mil...she just does things without thinking about how she may be stepping on anyone's toes. I feel like constantly shouting that you are the grandma, I'm the mom.

    I like my moms' group pretty well, but it's annoying the cr*p out of me that there's this undercurrent of intense jealousy going on about babies' sizes. People like to humble-brag about how big their babies are and what a pain in the a$$ it is, and they are very obviously jealous when someone else's baby is bigger.

    I'm particularly sour about this because my baby is generally the biggest one (he's wearing 12-18 month clothes at 4 months--maybe he's Paul Bunyan or something), and NOTHING I can say will make these people anything but resentful of the fact (I compliment their babies on their size--they act like I'm being insincere. I reference my own big baby--they think I'm bragging. I compliment their babies on something else--I'm implicitly acknowledging that my baby is bigger, which is a no-no. I don't say anything--they think I'm a snob).

    Who cares how big a baby is?? I love that my baby is big because it's just one of the things that makes him him, but he was never a tiny, easy-to-carry bean size like most of them, which I bet has its own perks. Anyway, it's weird. It's like competition in reverse over who is the thinnest.

    @amberdt03

    I did see a post on bumpjackie's time line (is that what it's called here too? idk-) anyway...about some guy in the BF board messaging them.

    Weird- But I am curious what the hell was he asking? mind sharing?

     And I don't think everyone's baby is that cute.

    @jancandance One of my dearest friends just had a baby in September and I feel so incredibly horrible for saying it, but she's just not cute.  I'm sure she will be, her parents are adorable, but her?  Um, not so much.
    I think every baby is really cute! I've never been able to not look at a baby and not think they were adorable! I am a sucker for babies though- I love them all!
    I haven't gotten past the first page, but I'll admit I thought my baby was an ugly little alien for the first six weeks.  MOTY here, right?  Now I think he's cute, but I can't tell if he's really like Gerber baby cute or not because I'm obviously not impartial and few people will tell you that your kid is ugly to your face.  I'll remain blissfully unaware of my baby's possible not cuteness.
    I won't lie, I thought my baby looked like quagmire for the first couple days of his life, his face was just gigantic compared to the rest of his body. I think he's super cute now but I do wonder if that's my 'mommy eyes' or not.

    For what it's worth I've always thought the baby in your avatar (which I'm assuming is your baby) is really adorable.
    Thanks!!  Here's a pic of him where, at the time, I thought he looked like an alien (and sometimes Truman Capote and other times Churchill).  Now I look at the pics and think he was kinda cute.  (I think I just miss him being so small because he clearly was an alien baby.)

    My husband was the complete opposite of me.  He was shocked (and a little hurt) when I told him I thought LO looked like a little alien.  At the time, he thought LO was so adorable and now he looks back at the pics and laughs about how not cute he was.

    I bought a Galaxy Tab 3.
    I don't really need a new tablet...but I justified it because my Nook Color (that's 3 years old) will no longer hold a charge.

    My husband thinks it's "our" tablet...bish please.  I bought for me. haha

    Lol. My husband couldn't stand sharing an iPad with me so one day he just bought me my own.

    Me too. Our Christmas pics are tomorrow and I had to buy her a 6 month dress and Christmas pjs. Pretty sure I'll have to fork out another 40$ in 9 months for Christmas.

    I have a baby on the smaller side and this past week both MH and I kept going on and on about how much she's been eating and how heavy she feels. Well fast forward to her 4 month appointment and our 'heavy' girl weighed 12.5 pounds.

    I give all you moms with the bigger babies huge props because apparently I have the arm strength of a T Rex and 12.5 pounds feels heavy to me. I'm ashamed.
    FWIW I have what is probably an 18-lb baby by now and I STILL have wimpy T-Rex arms. :) I have trouble lifting him. Don't be ashamed!
  • @yakut and @rzurbr

    I groan and say, "You're such a big baby!" every time I pick up my 15lb LO.  He used to be in the 97th percentile for length and weight but now he's dropped to 50th so I don't know what I'm groaning about anymore, but I still do.

    My confession is that for no reason whatsoever I prefer to have my mom babysit LO, my MIL is a perfectly good person but I'm just not as comfortable when she watches her.

    That's exactly how I am too.
  • I have another one - I don't understand why we have a POTD thread and a random pip thread every day. Is the random one limited to NBR subjects?

    I have NO ISSUE if you want to drop the PoTD thread :) I've officially been doing it since August 21...

    We are driving to Charlotte for a regional tournament for soccer. I fully intend on being wasted one of these nights. Yes it is a trip for my child but I don't care.

    I played in competitive soccer leagues for my entire childhood. Now I know why the parents were always so fun! I cant wait for M to start playing soccer!
    She plays on Georgia ODP. She's a beast!

  • I side eye all the moms who talk about their baby hitting milestones early or whatever. And about how great and perfect their 4 month old is. Seriously talk to me about what they can do once they are older. I'm not impressed. I don't believe any of it. And I don't think everyone's baby is that cute.

    ::kisses @jancandance on the mouth::

    I don't rush my kids to hit milestones, they'll do it on their own.

    I'm currently letting dd sit on my kitchen counter eating chocolate chip cookies DH made. She lives on fruits and veggies, so I'm getting her sugared up in hopes of an early nap time.
