I've had 3 Mom's call me today about their students. The last one conference called their kid on the same line who sounded like he was going to die of embarrassment. I want to tell all the Mom's to quit fucking calling me and let your kids grow up.
If my Mom had called my Advisor while I was in college for anything other than to report my death, dismemberment or prolonged hospital stay I would have flipped out.
When I was a corporate recruiter we had a dad come down to our office to confront the recruiter who didn't hire his daughter, who was an adult btw. How embarrassing for her, what did he think was going to happen, the recruiter was going to be all like, well, your kids not qualified but since you came down here we will totally hire her, clearly she is a self-sufficient adult.
When I read the previous to my husband, he said that his friend, a prof at USC, failed a kid because that was the grade the kid earned. He called to set up an appointment to discuss it and then showed up with his mommy to cuss out the prof. This friend isn't known for his tact and explained the facts and the logic that he was a senior and far too old for his mommy to be doing this. I can't imagine trying to keep a straight face, M.
Re: FFFC: I can't believe I did that!
