Crazies as in someone that responds to only debate threads and gets irrationally upset over things they cannot control?

Or just the people you disagree with?
I'm thinking the ones who carry guns in their diaper bags...to play dates. Or the ones who don't want their kids in my care because I *don't* have a gun. Or the ones who are scared of an intruder so they lock themselves in their bedroom at night...while their child is exposed in the other room. Or the ones who think you can kill just as many people with a rock. Or the ones with conspiracy theories. FWIW I don't see anything wrong with a gun in the house for protection assuming it's being stored appropriately and the owner is otherwise a responsible gun owner. I even don't disagree with everyone who who carries with a permit. Only the ones who don't actually carry it on their person (ie diaper bag) and the ones who find it absolutely necessary to carry it to play dates and playgrounds.
Well, I can agree with you on this. I don't really agree with carrying at all times just for the sake of it. I just have my reasons which I think are good reasons, regardless of what other people might think. Oh & fyi, I have never locked my door while my child was vulnerable in the other room. (I know you aren't saying I did, just pointing it out).

Oh that was a serious reference to someone else in this thread. I wasn't insinuating that you did. :-)

  • First off ...
CCW laws are different from state to state. In my state my gun doesn't have to be on my person. It can be in a purse or a diaper bag. Heck, it doesn't even have to be concealed. I might be that gal at your park open carrying with a new born on the other side. Who knows? Either way, before you tell me to "GTFO with that" you should learn about what you're talking about so you don't sound like a dang fool.

Secondly, thanks for the thoughts on the belly band! I hadn't thought about it needing the tension. I've never looked at one though.

Thirdly, thank you for pointing out that these liberal havens protected with "strict gun laws" are actually the most unsafe places in the country. Chicago. LA., etc.

Fourthly, it would only be "illegal" to carry in a hospital if so by state law or explicitly banned by signage on the entrance. You do have to be careful as most major medical centers may or
may not be on academic university property which would ban them on that consent. Again, where and where not guns are allowed varies by state.
  • Funny thing is everyone keeps talking about the n playground... DH was robbed at gun point in a park in a suburb about 3 years ago. Drugs make people do crazy things. If it weren't for this thread y ou would never know the "crazies" because I do not advertise if I am carrying or not.

Thanks for this. As i've already stated, my door had a push lock and would be no harder to open than a door that was just closed. its not like i left the front door open with a sign that says- "Hey take my kid but leave me alone." What silly thing i do for peace of mind and has absolutely no ill effect on my child, should not incite ridicule. You are hung up on a situation that doesn't even exist.

ETA: we are a family that closes bedroom doors at night so his door was closed as well. leaving him no more exposed than i was considering i would hear if someone were to break into my house and then therefore would have already gone into my childs room to protect him.

Aww ... you hurt my wittle feelings. I'm not gonna have any mommy friends because I like guns and can carry on an intelligent conversation using factual information instead of my feelings that I get from the night news. Life will be so awful.

Please honey ... I have plenty of mommy friends who shoot competitively with me. And afterwards we have tea and crumpets while we clean our guns and talk about baby.
  • We have a gun at home and I carry pepper spray and a pink tazer that and I quote "will make someone pass out and shit themselves" so.. Seems legit.

I'm such a klutz that I would shoot myself if I was in charge of the gun.

But totally support our right to carry them! Merica!

I am a freaking gun owner and huge gun safety advocate. I also used to shoot at least once a week. So no the nightly news is not where I am getting my information. The whole I am a gun owner that still doesn't think loaded weapons belong in diaper bags doesn't fit your little anti gun uneducated way of thinking huh?

okay well you are entitled to your own opinion. Even if its unfair.
do you consider the woman who carries her keys between her fingers as a potential defense mechanism absurd? or how about people who like to sleep with the tv on because it makes them feel safe? The pregnant mother who was raped and then lost her child who now puts chairs under her front door so she can sleep at night? All of these things are absurd because you dont do them too? Because i am able to sleep better by locking my bedroom door (not at all impairing me to get to my child) when my husband is out of town, should have absolutely no affect on you or anyone else. If anything you should feel compassion for the people that have to do these things to make themselves feel safe. (Im not talking about guns)

  • It's all about location. Some states, counties, neighborhoods, are more dangerous than others. I'm in a very safe location and would never feel the need to carry. Though I'm not opposed to it. Other locations might change my mind. We are all from various locations, that's important to remember.
  • There is no right or wrong here people.. And no one is going to change sides bc of a pregnancy thread. Remember? We're pregnant! The LAST thing we're going to do right now is agree with someone. You can pick apart what I had to say or what anyone else has to say all you want. But, I won't do the same. Please weed me out of the MOD applications... Bc YOU labeled ME as a crazy. And, Aren't we supposed to teach our children to NOT label people?

Do as I say and not as I do? Guess so!

Goodness you are missing the point entirely. What I find absurd is locking yourself in a room with your child in the other room, not that locking your door at night makes you feel safe. In none of those other instances are those women putting themselves before their child. I don't care if you think it doesn't hinder your ability to get to your kid. If you think running through an open door isn't any faster than having to stop and open one whether it is locked or not then you are mistaken. Even if it only slows you down slightly you cannot deny that it doesn't hinder you in some way and that it is still an obstacle between you and your child.
