I disagree.. The man did not have a permit to carry. As a matter of fact I hardly hear of a person with a CWP being involved in anything like that. It's the people who illegally own a gun or stole them during a robbery ETC who are the bad guys. The people with a CWP are the people who will save your life if need be.

Thats definitely true, but unfortunately at this point in our country's history our constitution is still being interpreted as it was over a hundred years ago- when it took like five minutes to load a weapon. The law is the law and there is no use in arguing about that at this point. I do believe our country would be safer if there were no guns, but we would have a very violent process of getting rid of them. We would have to get them from criminals- all while law abiding citizens were unable to protect themselves. At this point- i think the cause is hopeless. Which is why i do not judge anyone who wants to exercise the rights given to them by law.

During one of my anxious meltdowns i did do research about canada and tried to see if i could get us jobs there.

If a playdate is in a public area, you will not know that I am carrying. I do not have a duty to inform you. If that bothers you, then take the responsibility on yourself to start asking everyone you meet if they are carrying a firearm.

Well, that's pretty false. But yes, most criminals get their guns illegally. Which speaks volumes to the desire of many that don't want guns readily available to all citizens. Because where do you think criminals steal the guns from?

i guess ill speak for myself then. But maybe if someones family is being harmed or in a shooting etc, i wont help you out if you hate my gun so much. I guess you are right, its not my job to help anyone. Just pray there is an officer around if your family is in danger.

That actually proves the point. Illinois, as a whole, has relatively good firearms laws (from my point of view). Chicago, on the other hand, has extremely extremely restrictive firearms laws, yet the crime rate in chicago is much higher than the rest of the state.

I'm sorry.., but, has anybody thought about what IF they were attacked and what IF someone nearby had a gun and used it to save YOUR life OR your KIDS? Wouldn't you be thankful that, that person had a carry and conceal? Wouldn't be thankful that they had a gun on them? Wouldn't be thankful for guns period?!? I'm pretty sure that would be a turning point for a lot of you.

And, the whole "banning guns" b.s. just really boils my blood. Cain killed Abel with a stone - it's not the machine used to kill, it's the Heart! Anyone could use anything to kill anybody but thank god guns exist and thank god I know how to use one.

The people who are scared about guns and how they affect a society really need to educate themselves. Guns SAVE more lives than they kill. It's not reported bc our US government is dirty and wants to ban guns with their heart and soul. A whole family could've been killed down the street from me but, guess what, the mom was an active shooter and used what she had to protect her family. She used her GUN! And it never made it past the local news.

No shame in my game. If having a weapon nearby on the nights my H isn't home makes me crazy then yes, I'm batshit crazy. Think what you want (since y'all obviously just KNOW that I keep it loaded and "yada yada" as you say) but I'm doing what I think is best for my family's safety. I don't enjoy living where I do and had I know it was going to be like this I would have never picked it but when you constantly have police cars in your complex because of all the crazies roaming around and raping women, then yeah you better fucking believe I will have some protection nearby.

Statistics do show that more people are killed than saved with guns. Do you know how many times in the past 30 years a mass murder was stopped by a citizen with a gun?

Sure, people can kill people with stones and not guns. But not nearly as many and not nearly as fast. If that shooter had had a rock instead of an automatic weapon when he shot up an elementary school do you think as many kids would have been killed? I think not.

Speaking of paranoia... The US government doesn't report appropriate statistics because they want to ban guns? Please.

Then the person I was responding to also shouldn't have made such a simplistic statement.

Obviously there are many factors that play into it. But Chicago's rate is higher than many other cities of similar size with less restrictive guns laws.

I'm thinking the ones who carry guns in their diaper bags...to play dates. Or the ones who don't want their kids in my care because I *don't* have a gun. Or the ones who are scared of an intruder so they lock themselves in their bedroom at night...while their child is exposed in the other room. Or the ones who think you can kill just as many people with a rock. Or the ones with conspiracy theories.

FWIW I don't see anything wrong with a gun in the house for protection assuming it's being stored appropriately and the owner is otherwise a responsible gun owner.

I even don't disagree with everyone who who carries with a permit. Only the ones who don't actually carry it on their person (ie diaper bag) and the ones who find it absolutely necessary to carry it to play dates and playgrounds.

I don't know how laws vary by state, but I do know that my permit is an advanced concealed carry, I have a purse that has a built in holster on back panel it's completely hidden, I'm allowed to carry it anywhere except a court room while in session, the only stipulation is that it may not under any circumstance be seen unless there are extenuating circumstances. I have a toddler and one on the way, he has never seen it and has absolutely no way to access it so it is completely safe, they can't look for something they don't know exists. I'm still very cautious, it's no more hindering than carrying a purse daily and were a circumstance to arise I would rather have it and there be no need for it than find myself in a situation where I needed it and did not have it. Mothers of small children who are thinking about a concealed carry I do suggest a small pistol that is easily hidden, children are curious. I have a snub nose .38 special it is primarily a self defense gun, that being said-small guns kick. I would suggest becoming very very accustomed to shooting a gun like that, I've seen some people who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. There's no use in having it if you can't shoot it.
