Sorry but it's hard to scroll through the UO with so many quote trees on mobile. Maybe we can continue the conversation here?

The question on whether or not the reg's should have a sticker to decipher who is a contributing member was a suggestion. Like I said before, I call BS on any poster that has "lurked" since December and no one knows you. If you haven't contributed to the board I find it hilarious that you think you should be able to post your birth story. Oh, and you've got to love the "I'm a FTM and have nothing to contribute to the board" BS excuse too. Just stop.

What are your thoughts ladies?

I probably wouldn't change my siggy, because I honestly just don't care that much. If I don't recognize the name, I'm not responding. I may open on mobile b/c it doesn't show me the posters name. But, honestly, if the regs are so annoyed they need to quit responding at all. If randos don't get the response they want, they'll just go away.

If y'all want a special siggy, go a head. I just probably won't participate.

I wonder too about the people who claim to have been lurking for 8 months. You never saw ANY opportunity to chime in?? Really?? And I'm with you @CaliforniaDream87, the FTM thing doesn't automatically mean you have nothing to contribute. I'm a FTM and have been able to post a whole bunch. Obviously not from childbirth experience, but that doesn't mean I have nothing to say.

I guess I'm wondering how would it be determined who is a regular?

I mean, I don't think the stickers are necessary. Us regulars, who have been here and contributed, knows other contributing members. I agree that sometimes it's hard on mobile but I think we can figure it out.

I think it would be difficult to decide who gets one. I have been on the board since December and have replied to posts but only created a couple. I doubt anyone recognizes me but I'm sure there are others in my situation.

oh I thought the point of your post was to decide on the siggy thing. I don't have a problem finding the regulars. the point of being a regular is that you know the screen names.

I think anybody should feel like they can announce their birth stories on here, if they hadn't contributed to the board and you feel it's hilarious for them to share then just don't respond. My opinion. If the regs want a sticker to show they are contributing members, go ahead.

I'm with the above concerns. What determines regular? And I bump mobile just as much as not so I'd still be playing the guessing game. If I don't know them I just don't respond anymore. At this point it's just an annoyance really.

I'm not a reg on this board but I consider myself an occasional poster and I have posted since the beginning. I recognize who the regs are - I don't think you need a badge.

I do think the newbies coming out of the woodwork this late is a little odd. But on my other BMB (June 11) the board changed a lot after our babies were born so maybe that will happen here too, who knows.

I'm a ftm and even though I have no actual childbirth experience, I always try to contribute/offer t&p, and participate. Lurking for 8 months just makes no sense to me.

Who would decide who gets one? I joined in December when I got my BFP and I have been contributing since. I feel like I am an active daily poster and have gotten to know who the regulars are and the lurkers/drive-bys. What I wonder is if the other regulars view me as a regular as well. I would hope so.

I dont need one to prove anything. I know who the regulars are and I just dont reply to the drive bys, especially the birth posts, of the randoms. I also agree that the "Ive been here since December but just dont have anything to contribute" is crap. FTM or not, you have never had ANYTHING to say, ever? I have to agree with @Elauren88 and just plan to ignore them.

This is clearly a UO, but I don't have a problem with lurkers. The first time I was pregnant I rarely contributed on my BMB, but I became much more active after I had the DS because I felt like I had more experiences to share. These boards are as much of a resource for someone who has a burning question at one point during their pregnancy as they are for those who enjoy socializing and getting to know other moms to be through posting. Just as in life some people are always the talkers and others like to sit back and listen.

Nobody has to pay attention to/care about the birth stories of women they don't feel connected with, but I wouldn't discourage anyone who wants to share their story regardless of how many previous posts they've had. We all had our first few posts at some point and a birth story may be the first post for someone who becomes a regular poster post-partum.

I'm also a FTM, but I can honestly say its not difficult at all for me to contribute to most of these posts. Pulling out the "I don't post because I'm a FTM" card really grinds my gears.

In this instance, that would be what the "birth stories" board is for. I could personally not care less how your baby shoots out of you unless I know you. I don't know you, I'm not going to read or respond to your story. Post where you want, but if you want people to care, I'd probably post where board etiquette dictates, and not to a knit group of strangers that I've been creeping on for 8 months. JMO.

I agree with Elauren's point and California's. I did like having the badges before they were taken away. I was a bronze poster before the change, which made me feel like I had contributed to the board. And I'm a FTM. It is a little annoying to not easily see who's a newbie, but I don't think the newbie drive bys will stop either way. I just plan to ignore.

See, now if you would have actually read the beginning of this thread, you would have seen that I don't care about adding a sticker, or a badge to our siggys. I even stated that I wouldn't add it to mine even if they made one (it was, like, the first comment...not sure how you missed it).

My memory sucks. I recognize most of the super active regulars. Its the semi active regulars who I am still learning about who would be awesome if they had some way to set them apart as a person who plans on continuing to participate in the group and therefore worth the time.

I don't care about post count, I care about intent. So anyone who has any interest in being a contributing member could have said siggy line or sticker or whatever the heck it is. Whether they have two posts or two thousand.

But ftr, contributing means posting. Adding your two cents. NOT "oh, I've been lurking since december! Its not faiiirr"
