Further along the line of clothing, I'm very annoyed that baby clothes for girls are, in general, associated with the color pink. Maybe I am biased because I hate the color pink myself, but come on. There are so many other wonderful colors out there. Why pink?
I very much struggle with clothes for girls. I am not into the girly girly frilly stuff AT ALL. Nor do I like the "text" on clothes like "Daddy's little Princess" or "Mommy's Angel"
I also hate the way they take an adult outfit and shrink it (like the GAP does).
It's hard to shop for girls and it doesn't change. I work in a high school with a strict dress code and the kids have a hard time finding people that even SELL appropriate clothes for them!

On the topic of kids dressing themselves, even tho I know this isn't a UO I needed to AW. DD for about a week wore this wig almost all day (pardon her eye, she had a stye at the time)
My UO this week is that I'm so tired of the US acting like it is the center of the entire world. I'm an American, living abroad, and I've gotten to the point when I hear American politicans or "opinion makers" or even other Americans wax on about how the US is the "best country in the entire world of all times" I just wanna hurl something at their head. Its a great country with great people ... but a little less arrogance sure would be nice. Every culture can learn from another culture but no one can learn if they are convinced they are the absolute best. thing. ever.nbsp;
This! I read the best article about this one time. It basically said people from others countries think about the USA just about as much as your think about Cambodians. Get over yourself, America.
Based on some of the posts I read on here....I think that some of you guys married some real assholes.
Good one! Hahaha and definitely makes sense!
I agree with this one too! I realize how lucky I am reading some of these stories!
My UO - I think people who just come to work to do their job and go home suck. You spend more time with people at the office than your own family, why not have a little fun?
This exactly. Put a little excitment into your day instead of moping around acting like you hate being here. Your mood effects others as well. Like you said, we spend a majority of our time with each other. Lighten up a little or else everyone else is going to hate being here/working with you. This is partially why I'd love to leave my job after LO is born. Smile people and quit being DEBBIE DOWNERS!!
Is this in response to the co-worker chitchat UO? Not wanting to small talk all day at work doesn't mean that the OP has a bad attitude at work or is a Debbie Downer. It means she wants people to do their job and stop floating from office to office to avoid work. My office has more than a few of those people and I am sure that the billable hours will sharply decrease when I go on maternity leave. just sayin'.

I agree with this totally. My MIL gave me a bunch of clothes with stuff like "Daddy's tough guy" and stuff like that. While I appreciate the gesture, I just don't like 'text' clothing, either. She also gave me a bunch of holiday onesies that basically equate to the classic 'teacher' christmas sweaters.
Leather shorts are stupid. I want to throat punch every girl I see walking around in the 90 degree weather with leather booty shorts. How's that swamp a$$ treating ya?
Unless you are on stage with Beyonce they just shouldn't happen.
I would also like to add boots in the summer for the same reason.
I don't think letting kids listen to music with "bad" words is such a terrible thing. It's much better than letting them listen to the sh!t Kidz Bop puts out. As long as you explain to them that some words can't be said, I don't see a problem with it.
If my 12 or 13 year old starts cursing in the house like I did at that age, I don't have a problem with it as long as its not AT me, and he knows his boundaries that he still can't say those words at school, etc.

It is interesting because swears or "bad" words are only bad because we assign a negative connotation to them. There is nothing inherently wrong with the word sh!t, but if someone says it, people react as though it was a racial slur. There are some words that are extremely hurtful and disrespectful, but others that I cannot understand why they are so taboo.
I'm so sick of chevron print ANYTHING! Dresses, skirts, baby nursery themes. It is OVERDONE people. It's a fad that needs to die. It's not unique or original or even that pretty and it's sooooo played out. Move on to the next trend please
I don't agree with this, I know kids are bound to hear these words. but typically songs with bad words in them have terrible lyrics like beating up people, or butts and hoes. Kids pick up on things and will sing along to every lyric....so those things will be coming out of their mouth.
We had walkmans when we were kids but no tapes of our own, so when we would go on road trips we would pick out tapes from my mom's collection. My sister picked ACDC and by the time we reached my grandma's house (8 hours away) she was singing at the top of her lungs Shook Me All Night Long.
Insert thumbs up here. Well it's like the "World Series". Or any sporting final for that matter. "There you have it folks. The WORLD champions!" Really? I'm pretty sure there are other countries in the world that play baseball. And I'm pretty sure they are pretty good at it.
I NEVER got this! I would always question growing up why we called it WORLD if it was only the US. I think the US is arrogant, and I think a majority of us do not understand in the slightest what it is like to live in other countries and not have the things that we take for granted....like a bathroom or sewer system.
However, I don't think the US does this all on their own. People all around the world are coming to the US to live the "American Dream" and get out of what they are living in. They will come here in whatever means they have to.
I agree that not everyone wants to live here. My DH is Australian and would absolutely NOT be here if it weren't for me...
BUT
We do have LOTS of people dying to come here - and I do love the USA and think it's a great place but I agree there are other amazing places (like Australia, Switzerland, etc). BUT lucky for these people our immigration policy is a MESS!!! So they pick the place it's easiest to get into and stay!!!

Mmm...not everyone wants to live in America believe it or not. And I disagree that it is the best country to live in. Switzerland is the best country to live in. Great healthcare. Amazing chocolate. Fantastic skiing. And beautiful summers.
ETA: Oh. And tartiflette.
Never said everyone wants to live here, but ok. And how come you can be patriotic about Switzerland but Americans are arrogant if they are patriotic? Hmm?

Bison (FCS) beats Big 12 Champs Kansas St (24-21)!!!
I'm sure I'll end up getting flamed for this but, I think it's creepy when a child is able to verbalize that he or she wants to breast feed, and then gets it. That's weird to me. If you're old enough to ask for it, you shouldnt be getting it. Flame away

Eh. I like my job, hate my boss. It's not that easy to just 'find a new job'. I'm cordial to him, but I'm certainly not going to act like everything is peachy and slap a smile on my face for his sake or anyone else's. Lol it seriously weirds me out. Remember that chick on the cover of Time magazine like a year or two ago? With her freakin 4 year old standing on a damn stool attached to her boob on the cover!? Creepsville.
I think I need to be clearer: thinking it is "creepy" is silly.
Im sure ill feel some heat for this one but I am tired of all of the "stetch mark" posts... Not sure if its really a UO or not but I am. If I read another person rejoycing that their method/ lotion is working because they are 26/ 30/ 32 weeks and dont have any stretch marks I am going to lose my mind. I should lurk them all when they are 38 weeks plus.. Lol

Interesting side note: I went to law school with one of the women interviewed and photographed for that article. I about DIED when I figured out who she was (she has a different last name now). Then I texted all of my friends from school and we collectively died together.
In other news, the way my daughter says "truck" sounds exactly like "f*uck", so on Monday we took her to the motorpool at H's work for a ceremony and she was screaming "big f*uck!!" at the top of her lungs when she saw all of the HMMWVs... great parenting moment.
Haha that's awesome!
In other news, I decided it would be funny to train my puppy to sit on command by saying "sh!t" instead.
I like the taste of flat Dr. Pepper (compared to "fresh" Dr. P)
I wish more people viewed sex as a precious, special act. Phrases like "I had a lot of fun in college" in regards to an insane amount of sexual partners just equals "I have no impulse control and I barely respect myself" to me.
I feel awful for the pets of vegan owners that feed said pet vegan food. (I am thinking of a particular friend.......I feel so bad for her dog) Feed that animal some meat!
I judge grown women (and men) that think breastfeeding is gross. If my four year old can understand that mommies make milk to feed babies (ok, so her understanding comes from our dog that just had puppies, but close enough) then adults should understand it.
I live in the south, so this only makes it an UO due to location....but I hate, hate sweet tea. I don't like tea in general, but when I say I don't like sweet tea, people stare at me like I have grown two heads. Tea is gross.

I am in complete agreement with you on this one. I am not originally from the south so I didn't know what sweet tea was until recently. I only like one type of iced tea and that is unsweetened green tea.
I hate Nirvana, and don't think Kurt Cobain was the genius that many people proclaim him to be.
Agree with you here too. It always baffled me that Teen Spirit earned the number 2 or 1 spot on best song or video of all time countdowns. I don't think they would have been nearly as popular if he was still alive.
ugh how annoying I responded to this like half hour ago and it never posted! anyways sure songs like "Payphone" are not lyrics about butts and hoes (although do we know that for sure, and that is why she isn't returning his phone call? ). but I still don't think that is age appropriate for a 3/4 year old there are still swears in it. Songs like "Need you now" by Lady A (which I think they are a very "goody goody" band my 5 year old nephew sings right along with the lyrics "it's a quarter after one and I'm a little drunk and I need you now." Call me crazy but I just don't think that is appropriate. but I guess that is my UO.
I worked a halloween event at the country club and all the kids were gathered around the DJ singing along with the songs. Hearing 20 children collectively sing Call Me Maybe was extremely disturbing.
I dislike it when people name their kids one thing, but just call them by their nn for the rest of their lives. For example, name kid Edward, call him Eddy forever. This is an example from a friend. If you liked Eddy better, why not just name him Eddy.
Because Eddy looks dumb on a business card or college diploma?
I actually don't like NNs as legal FNs. We are naming DD2 Eloise but will most likely call her Ellie 99% of the time. But I don't want Ellie on her birth certificate or resume.

Dave Grohl was the real talent in that band. When Foo Fighters first came out he wrote and recorded each instrument on the first album all by himself. Betcha Kurt couldn't have done that!

Totally agree.
May I ask why? Why does being old enough to ask for it mean they shouldn't be getting it? When DD was 1, she could ask for it. Does that really mean she's too old? Makes zero sense, and I think it's a silly concern to have.
I don't know where the line should be, but frankly it doesn't matter what I think. That's for each individual family to decide.

I don't mean you're one and you can sort of say milk or eat or food...or you know sign language. I mean when you have a full mouth of teeth and can eat solid food and say , "Mommy, I want milk please."
I knew a kid who would say "Titty mommy" and that was the sign he wanted to BF. I think he was 3.

Even though we have different opinions on curse words, I could not agree with THIS more. Yes, I rocked out to Smells Like Teen Spirit in my rebellious days, but I can't stand any other Nirvana song.
I do however enjoy the lullaby versions by Rock-a-bye Baby!

Amen. Even though I hate my legal name (Amanda), I am glad I have it as an option. Everyone at work calls me Mandi, it's on my business cards and my work email, but if I chose I could easily change back to Amanda, and maybe if I ever move to a "more professional" setting I will.

Interesting side note: I went to law school with one of the women interviewed and photographed for that article. I about DIED when I figured out who she was (she has a different last name now). Then I texted all of my friends from school and we collectively died together.
I think that's it!
That made me lol.
LOL! The way my DD says frog it sounds like that ... Every time we think she says the real thing... we always say ducky? She doesent say it anymore.
I am in complete agreement with you on this one. I am not originally from the south so I didn't know what sweet tea was until recently. I only like one type of iced tea and that is unsweetened green tea.
Agree with you here too. It always baffled me that Teen Spirit earned the number 2 or 1 spot on best song or video of all time countdowns. I don't think they would have been nearly as popular if he was still alive.
I worked a halloween event at the country club and all the kids were gathered around the DJ singing along with the songs. Hearing 20 children collectively sing Call Me Maybe was extremely disturbing.
