  it's so true though

  i never realized it until i went to college (rutgers) which is also where i learned that some people didn't live right off of the parkway....i was exit 153 but then we moved and now we're not near the parkway anymore (moved more west), but we're moving back

  I was born in Okinawa Japan army baby, lived in Texas briefly, but mostly I'm from all over CA from Redding to the Bay Area.nbsp; I'm currently in central CA, about an hour out of Sacramento... Stockton, CA. nbsp;The plan is to move to the coast before DS gets too far into school. DH and I LOVE the Monterey/Carmel coast and we want out of the valley.

  Funny. We're stuck in the Central Valley Sacramento for now but our retirement dream is to buy a little place in Pacific Grove.

  We got a 15 year mortgage on our house 3 years ago and (sometimes) are able to double up the payments... when it's paid off we are outta here!! The Monterey area is so beautiful! I almost landed a job at the aquarium some years back... kinda a blessing I didn't because we weren't ready to move yet, but some day maybe!

  I am not from Iowa originally but moved to Marshalltown about a year and a half ago. I can't complain about the cost of living but we have no family nearby (my family is on the east coast and the in-laws are in Colorado).
