DD2 is Arden Kate, so I'm clearly a little baised! I will say I get the "say what?" reaction from people a lot. So I always end up saying..."Like Garden, without the G". Overall though, I get great feedback on her name.

Arden has been both a male and female name since the early 1900's. It was most popular for both sexes in the 1930's (with the name being used more for men).

I can't decide if I like Arden or not. It's ok. If I heard of someone IRL naming their baby this, I wouldn't have a strong reaction of like or dislike. I'm neutral, so I guess that's good.

Dh says the same thing to me about grandma names. I look at ss lists from the 1920/1930's to find names I like.

And I do like Arden, but I would never use it.

I'm not crazy about it but that is because back home there is an Arden Faire Mall, Arden Blvd and Arden-Garden Rd and Arden Hills Country Club which is a super popular wedding venue. So those are the things I think of when I see it since I have never known anyone IRL with Arden as a name.
